Chapter 15: Chapter 14: If You Don’t Eat, My Son Still Needs To

Bella Acker returned to the room, not even taking off her coat, and flung herself onto the bed.

Damian Sinclair came in holding chicken soup and saw her backpack thrown on the carpet as she lay on the bed, not even moving at the sound of the door opening.

Damian walked over, placed the chicken soup on the nightstand, and said, "Why aren’t you eating anything?" As he spoke, he sat on the bed, stretched out his long arm, and pulled her up.

"Don’t touch me, I’m upset," Bella pouted and complained.

Damian wasn’t about to pay attention to her little mood swings; he gently lifted her onto his lap, reached out, and unzipped her coat, removing the thick garment bit by bit.

Bella pouted but didn’t struggle.

"With the heating turned up so high in this room, and you’re wearing such thick clothes, aren’t you worried about overheating yourself? Failed the audition?" Damian asked casually.

"You’re asking when you already know," Bella puffed up her cheeks, looked down, pinched her fingertips, and muttered softly.

Damian removed her thick clothes, scarf, and hat, leaving her only in a loose gray sweater. Then he picked up the chicken soup from the nightstand, scooped some to her lips, and said, "Even if you don’t eat, our son still needs to; if he gets too hungry, see how I’ll punish you."

"The doctor said the fetus doesn’t really need much nutrition in the first three months, you can’t fool me." Even as she said this, Bella obediently opened her mouth and drank the chicken soup Damian fed her.

After she finished most of the chicken soup, Damian said, "Tomorrow morning, I’ll go with you to the hospital for a comprehensive prenatal check-up."

"Aren’t you going to the office tomorrow morning?" Bella knew Damian was always busy every day, unlike her, who was quite idle.

"I’ll go in the afternoon." Damian pinched her rosy cheek, "The woman at the elevator earlier, was she a friend from the audition?"

"Weren’t you not looking at me?" Bella mumbled softly.

Damian stared at her without saying anything, his eyes dark and inscrutable.

Bella’s heart skipped a beat when she met his gaze. Although Damian did pamper her, it wasn’t to the point where she could criticize him.

He treated her like a cute, spoiled pet; she was the one who forgot the terms of their contract, falling for this high and mighty man. But she also understood that with his status, he would eventually marry a well-matched socialite. She would either remain his hidden lover forever or take a sum of money and leave quietly when the time came.

Thinking of this, Bella’s heart ached slightly. She bit her lip and, somewhat petulantly, said, "Yes. If... if you like her, I... I could introduce you two."

"Bella, what’s going on in your head all day?" Damian’s face darkened as he placed her back on the bed and headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

Bella fiddled with her fingers, looking anxiously at the closed bathroom door. She realized Damian was upset, and it seemed like she always managed to upset him. What if one day Damian got so angry that he never came to see her again? What would she do then? Just leave?

"Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!" The phone vibrated on the bed, startling Bella out of her thoughts. She found her phone in her coat pocket and checked the caller ID. It was an unknown number.

Confused, Bella pressed the green button to answer, "Hello, this is Bella Acker speaking."

"Hello, is this Ms. Bella Acker? I’m the executive producer of the TV series ’Brocade River and Mountain.’
