Other chief picks and choose their warriors, relying on stories and hearsay, relying on blood relations and closeness and while Aeryon does have people who is close to him in high position, all of those people could convince the people below.

The people are happy, innovation then would slowly arise.

Innovation leads to convenience but also to strength.

A virtuous cycle is formed and if there is corrupt forces trying to corrupt his virtuous cycle, Aeryon could still control it.

The reason the people of the Great Steppe would die for the chief and the chief would avenge his tribesman is because the difference of culture and governance between the people of the grassland and the people of the empire around them

To say which one is advanced and which open is not, it might even seem that the method of governance of the Steppe is more primitive.

But it is easy and it rely on human emotion.

And people with hearts , warm blood in their chest would always feel attracted to the bravery and the humaneness of certain aspect of the tribe that they would not find in some of these empire governance.

The chief of the great steppe is not like the officials in the Yan empire.

The officials oppress the people, while they wine and dine in their residence, laughing and singing to the tune of brothel women and clowns, outside their residence, there is parents selling their child, hungry people eating people, and starving death fills the roads.

The chief of a tribe is usually related to everyone in the tribe. hence, most chief rarely oppress their own people.

For their own people is Their people. They are either of the same clan or related to the chief clan.

The only exception of these is war prisoners and war slave. The relationship like Aeryon and the elders and his tribe members is not an anomaly in the Great Steppe.

Only in the big tribe there is some oppression of the people but even then, it would reach the same kind of level like the officials of Yan dynasty oppressing the people.

There would not be the scene where the officials are dancing and singing in their residence while outside of the house, the common people are emaciated and starving to death.

Generosity and honesty is one of the greatest virtue of the people of the Steppe. When they fight they are the cruellest and the most brutal warriors.

When they dismount ad return home, they would treat their loved ones and even strangers to their home with great generosity and great hospitality.

The people of the Steppe if they did not like their chief, they could rebel if the chief is weak or run away if the chief is strong.

After all, the great Steppe is vast.

Would you use all of your strength to chase a lone rider all over the Steppe?

That is a waste of resources and might even make the person who is running become famous and protected by some other chief.

Hence, most chief could either fulfil one of those trait of a strong or wise leader standard of the common people of the Steppe.

But rarely they could unify these traits as one.

Those who is strong leader have strong military.

And strong military force requires food and discipline. Hence, the production of food is hoarded and supply toward the military side instead of the people side.

This ensures the tribe is strong but the people have to labour hard for this safety and strength. And sometimes oppression is inevitable in such a tribe.

In such tribe, it is hard to engage in other method of production.

And a wise leader who could give food and be benevolent is usually weak.

Why? Because resources are limited. You must choose which to prioritized.

There is of course, those who had crack the code and manage to be both, while not on the scale of Aeryon, they managed to at least balance both the people and the force.

But that is a rarity.

Hence, most chief are strong, but none are benevolent.

In the hardness of life in the Steppe, everyone has been used to it.

The division of the Steppe and the schemes of alienation by the empires around them breed a lot of strong warriors and strong chief but lacks that kind of leader who saves people from the fire.

Aeryon on the other hand is both.

Strict toward the people under his control, benevolent and gentle to the people below him.

But why does Aeryon is able to do this? Is it because he is favoured by the gods? Is it because he was lucky?

Is it because his kindness moved the heavens?

No, it is because he have the system.

Precisely because he has the system he could choose to not use cruelty. It is because he has the system he could use benevolent methods.

Sometimes, warlords and these tribal chief are forced by the situation.

Even for those warlords and chiefs that have kind intentions and noble aspirations, sometimes they are forced by the circumstances of the world.

The reason why people live more easily in the future and have a lot more conveniences is because the liberation of people and the soaring of production and the ability to seek more knowledge and to seek more wisdom which then leads to more innovation that increase production and technology and it multiplies and leads to breakthrough after breakthrough that made life easier.

Without improvement in production, resources could not be doubled. Without resources, then you have to work with what you got and that involves making a hard decision.

And that decision is sometimes cruel.

It is like being stuck between two rocks.

Aeryon could skip all of that because he has resources and this resources come from the system. And Aeryon did not want to let go of that advantage.,

"I choose to integrate" he mutters to himself. It is more like he is convincing himself. He wanted to choose to integrate.

Even if the system break because of it, he already had made preparations.

There is still the seeds from those plants

And he also have detailed plans.

Whether these system is still here or not, it would not change his ambition and it would not change the outcome.

The Steppe would still be his and nothing could change this

Aeryon sigh and then called upon his servant and tell the servant to say to his wife that he would not return to the tent tonight.

The servant immediately rush toward his personal tent

Aeryon could only imagine what Ayera would think.

"I hope she doesn’t think something is weird. Will she report this to her father too?" he thought to himself for a second before he chuckles at his own thoughts.

He also wanted to know what Ayera would do.

However, this time, Aeryon is not in the mood to plot against his wife.

Aeryon then walk toward his personal tent and order the guards to expand the perimeter

In other words, go and guard from a distance and not come close to him.

Of course, he could not say it like that so he had to made a valid reason for them to not pay too much attention to him.

If he dismisses these guards, Mayeux would lecture him tomorrow. After all, Aeryon position is not the same as it was before.

Mayeux once send a report to him saying he had caught a few assist before from the defeated tribe trying to plan to assassinate him

Fortunately, they were caught before they could enact their plans.

Aeryon conquering the tribes and threatening the tribes did not always come with good feelings.

Mayeux himself has blocked around ten assassination attempts before it could even reach Aeryon tent.

This is why Aeryon could no longer be so callous like before , leaving the tribe or leaving anywhere else without protection

No matter how strong he is, a fight is different than assassination. If not, there would not be so many famous generals, monarchs and great warriors in history that dies of assassination instead of a duel.

Before entering the tent, he also reminded the guards to not disturb him unless he calls for them

Aeryon close the curtain entrance and he did not light the lamp wick.
