Wayfarer-Chapter 1059: The Cataclysmic Disaster
Chapter 1059: The Cataclysmic Disaster
Even the three Qing Grandmasters' combined strength was no match for the Superior. However, if they chose to flee with all their might, the Superior might not be able to stop them, either.
Upon learning that Xiao Nanfeng was unable to join the battle, their hearts sank. They didn't fear losing—their cultivation had been predicated on victory after victory, and they had absolute confidence that one day they would surpass the Superior. The reason for their despair was the growing size of the portal and the increasing gravitational pull of the black hole. They feared that their home planet wouldn't survive the Superior's latest attack.
If the planet were completely destroyed, their karmic ties would be severed and they would be free to venture into the depths of the universe without restraint. They could drag the fight out in this manner, already having done their best.
Why would the Taiqing Grandmaster risk all that by entering the black hole himself? The chance of success was slim, and the risk of death high. Even if they succeeded, they were giving up on the opportunity to take down the Superior—all they could do was to delay the planet's destruction for a short period of time.
Was it worth it?
The other two grandmasters fell into deep thought. After a moment, their eyes likewise flashed with determination. Almost simultaneously, they said, "We will join you."
"Very well!" The Taiqing Grandmaster nodded.
He turned to the Superior. "For the sake of all living beings and our home planet, even if we die today, we will make you pay a heavy price."
The Superior sneered, "Don't make yourselves sound so noble. Fighting to the death for your home planet is just a way to refine your cultivation. You're only doing this for yourselves—but you really are greedy, aren't you? For the sake of reaching the highest realm of heart cultivation, you're even willing to risk your lives. How laughable!"
The three Qing Grandmasters snorted even as they quickly communicated via mental transmissions, formulating a strategy and coordinating their actions.
After a short while, the Yuqing Grandmaster suddenly called out, "Heavenly Empresses, please assist us in defending against the Superior."
"Understood!" Madam Rouge, Liu Miaoyin, and the Divine Emperor replied.
The Yuqing and Shangqing Grandmasters focused on restraining the Superior and giving the Taiqing Grandmaster an opportunity to act. Meanwhile, Madam Rouge, Liu Miaoyin, and the Divine Emperor flew into the air. They weren't strong enough to properly contribute themselves, but they could still harass the Superior and give the two grandmasters some time to carry out their plan.
The five supreme cultivators assaulted the Superior, but she was so strong that she still had the upper hand despite the gross numerical disadvantage.
The Taiqing Grandmaster, meanwhile, leapt toward the portal leading into the black hole. The gravitational pull was so strong at the boundary that even he barely resisted it.
"Red moon, illuminate the cosmos!" the Taiqing Grandmaster shouted.
His red moon settled on his world tree's branches and began to emit radiant red light. It drew in vast quantities of cosmic energy and allowed him to stabilize his form—though not completely. While he was still being pulled toward the portal, it was happening at a slow enough pace that he had time to activate his techniques beforehand.
He quickly flicked his horsetail whisk, sending beams of red light into the portal. A faint wisp of red light was reflected back from within—despite the fact that even light shouldn't have been able to escape the gravitational pull of a black hole. This was a testament to the Taiqing Grandmaster's extraordinary strength.
The faint red light flickered in a highly unstable fashion. It revealed a blurry image of swirling vortices devouring everything in their path. Amidst the chaos, fifty faint beams of light could be seen.
The Taiqing Grandmaster's eyes lit up. "Those must be the starships maintaining the portal on the othe side!"
With another flick of his horsetail whisk, he sent a red orb into the black hole.
The red orb quickly weakened as it was absorbed by the black hole, but before it could be completely destroyed, it reached one of the starships. A burst of fiery light erupted and then vanished along with one of the beams of light.
"Well done!" the two other Qing Grandmasters shouted.
It was clear that one of the starships on the other side of the portal had just been destroyed.
Then, the portal flickered violently. The rate at which it expanded slowed.
The Taiqing Grandmaster then shot out another orb of red light straight at another starship within.
The Superior's expression turned cold. Although she was currently overwhelming her opponents, she couldn't deliver them a fatal blow. Moreover, with them holding her back, she couldn't destroy the planet right away.
At this rate, the Taiqing Grandmaster would destroy all the starships within the black hole before being sucked in himself, rendering her strategy useless.
The Superior narrowed her eyes. "If you're so eager to die, I'll grant your wish."
With that, she unleashed five palm strikes and pushed her opponents toward the Taiqing Grandmaster. Very quickly, they all felt the immense gravitational pull from the black hole drag them in.
Although the two grandmasters could have avoided the attack alongside Madam Rouge, Liu Miaoyin, and the Divine Emperor, doing so would surely have doomed the Taiqing Grandmaster.
The Yuqing Grandmaster shouted, "Empresses of Dazheng, protect our planet! Protect our moon!"
He waved his hand, pushing the empresses away from the black hole as the Superior sent him and the Shangqing Grandmaster shooting toward the Taiqing Grandmaster.
The three women stabilized themselves. They had sustained significant injuries during the battle and chose to withdraw, focusing their energies on stabilizing their moon and planet.
By then, the Taiqing Grandmaster had already destroyed a number of starships, but it wasn't sufficient. Just as he was about to keep flicking his horsetail whisk, the Superior and the other two grandmasters arrived.
The Superior called out, "Why don't you attack from the other side of the portal instead? Go on!"
She shoved the other two grandmasters aside as she launched a palm strike at the Taiqing Grandmaster, whose eyes widened as he deflected the attack with his palm.
The other two grandmasters brandished their own weapons as they charged toward the Superior.
The Superior declared coldly, "Since the three of you are so coordinated, why not come at me together?"
Rather than defend against the other two grandmasters' attacks, she leapt through the portal into the black hole alongside the Taiqing Grandmaster.
The two other grandmasters' attacks were absorbed by the black hole and vanished from sight. They frowned at each other before chasing the Superior through the portal without any hesitation.
Soon, all four cultivators vanished from sight.
Meanwhile, Madam Rouge, Liu Miaoyin, and the Divine Emperor tensed up with unease.

The Divine Emperor frowned. "The black hole is simply too strong. No light can escape from it—who knows how the fight is going?"
"There's nothing we can do," Madam Rouge surmised.
Liu Miaoyin sighed. "Let's wait patiently."
The other two women nodded. All they could do now was protect their planet and the moon.
Madam Rouge's attendants, still safely ensconced within her world of the heart, were able to see what was going on outside. They immediately began to send news back to Yongding.
Back in Yongding, Xia Yu'er, Zhang Lingjun, and Lan Yaoguang were all fretting as the scenes of what was happening beyond the heavens were transmitted to them. Equally anxious were the officials of Dazheng.
Lan Yaoguang shook her head. "The Superior is far too strong. How are we supposed to stop her in such a state?"
Xia Yu'er frowned. "Even the three Qing Grandmasters are no match for her. What can we do?"
Zhang Lingjun furrowed her brows. "Officials, please inform the entire world to be prepared for an impending invasion. If Nanfeng emerges from secluded cultivation and issues any orders, they must be carried out immediately."
"Understood!" the Dazheng officials chorused.
There were many brilliant strategists among them, but no wisdom could overcome such an overwhelming disparity in power.
Their only hopes now lay with the three Qing Grandmasters and the Heavenly Emperor. Though they too were anxious about what was to come, there was little they could do beyond urging their subordinates to carry out the empresses' orders as quickly as possible.
As more and more cultivators learned of the situation outside, they gathered at Yongding to observe the fight. Scenes from the sky continued to stream in as a sense of urgency spread throughout the world.
After some time, the portal trembled again. Its rate of expansion slowed further.
Someone's eyes lit up with hope. "Another starship has been destroyed! The three Qing Grandmasters have destroyed another starship inside the black hole. Maybe they can turn the tide!"
Someone prayed, "If the three Qing Grandmasters can destroy the starships and the portal, they'll be able to stop the Superior even if they can't defeat her outright. They have to succeed!"
Everyone stared intently at the scenes being transmitted.
A day later, the portal stopped growing.
Someone exclaimed in excitement, "The three Qing Grandmasters have succeeded!"
Cheers erupted from the crowd.
Just then, a beam of white light emerged from the portal, and a figure stepped out.
Everyone's hearts sank in terror as they saw who it was. "It's the Superior!"
The Superior had returned. A trace of blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, indicating that she had sustained some injuries during the battle. However, her face was filled with triumphant arrogance.
At that moment, everyone felt a chill run down their spines. If the Superior had returned, did that mean the three Qing Grandmasters had been defeated?
The Superior turned to Madam Rouge, Liu Miaoyin, and the Divine Emperor, a mocking smile on her lips. "You must be disappointed."
Madam Rouge asked urgently, "Where are the three Qing Grandmasters?"
The Superior stepped forward, the golden tree behind her trembling as it absorbed vast quantities of cosmic energy to heal her injuries. "Isn't it obvious? Do I really need to explain myself? Haha!"
Her aura erupted like a golden ocean. Waves of overwhelming power crashed down on the gathered cultivators; her presence was as domineering as before.
Madam Rouge, Liu Miaoyin, and the Divine Emperor blanched. In Yongding, countless cultivators paled in fear.
Had the three Qing Grandmasters really been defeated? Had they perished within the black hole? Who could stop the Superior now? Everyone turned to Xiao Nanfeng's hall, but the doors to the hall remained tightly shut. What could they do now?
Just then, the Superior struck at Madam Rouge with a palm. "Now, it's your turn to die."
The palm strike conveyed immense force. Like a cataclysmic disaster, it shattered the void as a golden tsunami descended on Madam Rouge.
