Wedding Night: I Became the Female Supporting Character and Married the Villain!-Chapter 326 - The Truth
326 The Truth
She already knew about Lin Sheng’s background, but she had to get close to her to truly understand her motives. So, she couldn’t confront Lin Sheng just yet.
“Lin Sheng, I bought some of your favorite small cakes. Can I come and give them to you now?” Shen Lan asked.
“I…” Lin Sheng hesitated and looked down at her outfit.
“In that case, I’ll come over. See you later, Shengsheng,” Shen Lan quickly hung up the phone without giving Lin Sheng a chance to respond. She knew that catching her off guard would give her a better chance to find out something.
Lin Sheng rushed home disgruntledly to tidy up and make sure Shen Lan wouldn’t find out anything.
The moment she changed clothes and removed her makeup, the doorbell rang.
“Lin Sheng, I missed you so much. It’s been days since I saw you,” Shen Lan exclaimed as she hugged Lin Sheng tightly and immediately scanned the entire room with her eyes.
The room seemed normal, but there was something unusual — a bamboo basket placed in the corner.
The basket seemed out of place in the room. Lin Sheng quickly took it out of sight.
Shen Lan noticed the oddity of the basket and couldn’t help but grow suspicious.
Meanwhile, the staff reviewing the surveillance footage faced a dilemma.
The venue had clear surveillance footage of a woman dressed as a beggar splashing sulfuric acid at Luo Ying when she wasn’t paying attention. However, the woman’s face was covered in black dust, making it impossible to identify her.
Lu Zhao furrowed his brow. Su Li was sweating nervously. They acknowledged that the screening process for extras had not been the most airtight. It was a low-budget shoot, and they had gathered extras as best they could.
They never expected it to turn into a disaster.
After stealing a glance at Lu Zhao’s worried expression, Su Li felt that his career as a director was over.
Lu Zhao patted Su Li’s shoulder reassuringly. “Someone is trying to hurt Luo Ying, and the production team has been compromised. Moreover, Xie Yun is injured now. Let’s suspend the shoot for now. You and the other crew members should prioritize your safety. I’ll keep paying your salaries. I’ll cover the expenses.”
Su Li let out a sigh of relief and looked gratefully at Lu Zhao.
Lu Zhao contacted the Luya Group’s Public Relations Department and asked them to make the incident known online. He knew that if the culprit failed once, they might make another attempt. Making it public would help keep Luo Ying and the production team safe and possibly provide valuable clues.
In the evening, a post quickly topped the hot search:
“Su Li’s crew faces another crisis. Male lead splashed with sulfuric acid.”
Xie Yun’s fans were outraged and worried, but some attentive fans noticed something unusual in the video.
“[Pay attention to the video. The woman seemed to have wanted to splash Luo Ying in the beginning.]”
“[Yeah, she aimed for Luo Ying, but Xie Yun protected her.]”
“[How many enemies does Sister Ying have? Why does she always seem to be targeted by someone?]”
“[Xie Yun is such a dashing knight.]”
“[Could this be Luo Ying’s new way of creating hype? This woman is capable of anything.]”
Luo Ying ignored the miscellaneous comments online. She had been visiting the hospital to check on Xie Yun’s condition for the past two days. After all, Xie Yun was injured because of her.
One day, while at the hospital, she received an urgent call from Shen Lan.
“Yingying, I think I know who threw the sulfuric acid at you that day.”
Luo Ying trembled, “Who is it?”
“It’s probably Lin Sheng,” Shen Lan replied anxiously.
Luo Ying furrowed her brow.
She had heard Shen Lan mention Lin Sheng before, but they had never met. Why would Lin Sheng come after her?
Feeling overwhelmed, Luo Ying asked Shen Lan to meet in person to explain everything in detail. Shen Lan showed Luo Ying Lin Sheng’s photo, and upon closer inspection, she did resemble the woman from the surveillance camera.
Luo Ying immediately called Lu Zhao to inform him about this development. However, before she could explain, another urgent matter arose: Xie Yun’s condition had worsened.
