Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Chi Mo 15

With that thought, the director quickly made his way to the living room. After a few pleasantries and an announcement about the time and place for the next recording, the first shoot officially concluded.

Tan You went along with it and took a picture with everyone. She didn’t like having her photo taken, but she knew not to be a party pooper. ’Isn’t that just how life is? You don’t just go and ruin someone else’s good time.’

After returning to their bedroom, Zhou Wenwen quietly asked Tan You, "What were you talking to the cameraman about? You two looked so secretive."

Tan You had nothing to hide. "Brother Chuan is a great videographer, so I asked him to help me shoot a video. It’s for a personal project, unrelated to the show."

"He put me in touch with a stylist, and that’s what we were just discussing."

Zhou Wenwen asked curiously, "What are you going to film?"

Tan You replied, "It’s not finalized yet. I’ll send it to you once the video’s finished."

She wasn’t the type to show off, so she didn’t like to make grand announcements beforehand. She much preferred to let her actions speak for themselves.

Lin Meng leaned in. "Okay, don’t forget me, either! It’s a shame we all have work scheduled, otherwise I’d totally tag along to watch."

Tan You said, "Haven’t we had cameras following us around these past few days? It’s more or less the same."

Lin Meng whispered, "This is my first time being followed by so many cameras, and I’m still not quite used to it. Now that this segment is over, I feel like I can finally breathe a huge sigh of relief."

Gao Jing shared the sentiment. "I feel the same way. It really goes to show how hard it is to live your life in front of a camera."

「Early the next morning」

Tan You had just woken up when Brother Chuan pulled her aside. A woman in her mid-thirties stood beside him. The moment the woman laid eyes on Tan You, her own eyes lit up, and her gaze grew even more fervent after she took in Tan You’s figure.

"I thought the photo might be deceiving, but you’re even more beautiful in person! You aren’t very photogenic, young lady—you’re much prettier in real life than you are on camera."

Brother Chuan said, "I think so too. See, Auntie? I told you she wouldn’t disappoint."

"Disappointed? This is more than just not being disappointed—it’s a wonderful surprise! Momo, let’s step aside and talk." Teacher Xu took the lead, pulling Tan You aside to ask about her vision for the styling.

Tan You took out a photo of her dance costume. "I was thinking of doing a series of traditional-style looks... The styling itself should be on the simpler side..."

"The stark contrast between red and white... it’s a great concept. But shooting in the snow will be difficult, especially in this cold." After hearing Tan You out, Teacher Xu frowned. "It’s going to be brutal."

Tan You smiled. "That’s alright. I’ve gone over the routine many times. I’ll aim to nail it in two takes."

’Isn’t this what being an artist is all about? If it means creating something that can truly move people, she was willing to endure any hardship.’

There was a large common room in the guesthouse, which the guests had used for their heart-to-heart chats. Since everyone was about to leave, the room was now naturally vacant.

Teacher Xu suggested, "How about you dance through it once? I can watch your movements and design the styling based on them."

That was exactly what Tan You was thinking. "Sure."

There was an open space in the center of the large room, and the floor was pleasantly warm under her bare feet. Tan You did a few simple stretches, then began the dance she had mentally rehearsed over and over.

Even though she was only wearing a simple sweater in an ordinary room, one could sense a profound beauty just from watching her every movement.

This beauty wasn’t in her eyes, but in the elegant, ethereal quality of her dance. In fact, when Tan You danced, she never made eye contact with anyone, completely immersed in her own world.

Teacher Xu sat on the floor. "Such pride," she murmured.

"Really?" Brother Chuan asked doubtfully. "I think she’s quite easy to get along with. I’ve never found her to be proud at all."

"Of course you wouldn’t see it," Teacher Xu laughed. "She holds her art sacred. Not just anyone is allowed to trespass into that world, and she isn’t the type of person who performs to please others."

"I think you’re mistaken," Brother Chuan said, shaking his head. "I find her very approachable. She’s not at all like you describe."

"You still have a lot to learn," Teacher Xu said without even glancing at her nephew. After watching the entire dance, she already had a rough idea for the styling. "Momo, here’s my thought. Later on, we can do a makeup test..."

"I was wondering why Teacher Xu suddenly showed up. So this was the big surprise," the director said, pushing the door open. It was hard to say how long he’d been watching from the hallway.

Teacher Xu laughed too. "A big surprise indeed. Director, where on earth did you find such a gorgeous girl? With looks like hers, the big-name directors would go crazy if they saw her. She’s simply stunning."

The director chuckled. "It was pure coincidence. Little Chi, are you planning on shooting a video?"

"Yes. Social media is booming, isn’t it? I have my own short-video account, and the scenery here is just too beautiful not to capture." Tan You said, mixing truth with half-truths, slightly worried the director might object.

The director glanced at Brother Chuan. "I was wondering why you went to Little Chuan yesterday. Why didn’t you come to me? My skills are pretty good, you know."

Tan You waved her hands. "I could never afford you..."

"It’s on the house. I just saw you dance, and it was exceptional. I think it would look even better with some drone shots. Let’s do this: we’ll all stay an extra day. I think your video has the potential to go viral."

The director rubbed his hands together gleefully. People in the business could always spot who had the potential to make it big. He was convinced Chi Mo had what it took to become a huge star. If Tan You hit it big, he could surely benefit from it.

A director’s gotta eat, after all.

Since the director himself had volunteered, Tan You certainly wasn’t going to refuse. "But don’t you need to oversee the post-production editing?"

"That’s what the post-production team is for! Right now, this project is more important. Teacher Xu, let’s put our heads together. If we’re going to film this, let’s make it perfect!"

The director was now more invested in the project than Tan You herself. With him taking over all the complicated logistics, Tan You no longer had to worry. She could focus completely on practicing her dance. She was so absorbed, in fact, that she was completely oblivious to the other guests’ movements. That was just the kind of person she was—when she did something, she poured her entire being into it.

She could only focus on one thing at a time, and when she was immersed in her dancing, she was oblivious to the world around her.

When Zhou Wenwen and Lin Meng came out, rolling their suitcases, they saw several other guests standing outside the window of the large common room. They were all as still as statues, their eyes completely transfixed.

Zhou Wenwen walked over, curious. "What’s everyone looking at? You’re completely mesmerized."

Gao Jing seemed reluctant to even blink. "We’re watching Momo dance. You know how modest she is all the time? Turns out, she’s an incredible dancer. Can you just imagine how beautiful she’ll be once she’s in a traditional costume with full styling?"

Zhou Wenwen glanced at Xu Jike, who was standing on the edge of the group and practically drooling. "Keep staring and you’ll miss your flight."

Gao Jing snapped out of her daze. "Oh, right, right! If I had known how stunning it would be, I would’ve stayed to watch the shoot. Now I have to miss it because of my schedule."
