Chapter 239: Chapter 239: Beautiful Blueprint

In the afternoon, Boss Pei treated us to a meal at a Western restaurant located near the summit.

It was situated at the intersection of several main roads, surrounded by a multitude of corporate buildings, with business professionals making up the majority of its patrons.

The three of us sat by the window. Looking out through the floor-to-ceiling glass on the sixth floor, we saw an amalgamation of traffic below and skyscrapers rising up in the distance, offering a visual experience that one rarely gets from within the confines of campus.

Jiang Xubai watched in awe, having dreamt of such a life and work atmosphere countless times. Even though it was still just the beginnings of a blueprint, the anticipation and desire inside him were already overwhelming to the point of being indescribable.

Shuyao observed this and felt all the more that Boss Pei was exceedingly shrewd.

To make someone wholeheartedly devoted, one must first dig deep into their soul.

Clearly, Pei Yan had figured out Jiang Xubai’s inner world down to the last detail.

After dinner, the trio made a side trip to the Technology Park.

Pei Yan had already started arranging office space rentals a few days ago. This time, bringing Jiang Xubai along served two purposes: to settle his heart, and to plan out the specifics of company registration on site.

Handling the entire set of business qualifications sounded straightforward, but to a student who had never dealt with such matters, it was utterly confusing.

Once everything was explained, the fire in Jiang Xubai’s eyes seemed to die down by two-thirds.

The remaining third compelled him to turn to Shuyao with a pleading look, hoping to receive some warm spiritual chicken soup from the empresaria.

No chicken soup was on offer, but there was a solution.

Shuyao beckoned Pei Yan with a mysterious wiggle of her finger.

Jiang Xubai pricked up his ears to listen. "Take some time to touch base with Assistant Jiang. Ask for a little help," the empresaria said.

Pei Yan shook his head, "The time isn’t right; I don’t want Old Pei to know about this so soon."

Shuyao added, "Just say it’s for a friend’s company, and you’re only consulting on the registration process. We’ll handle all the qualifications ourselves. Even if Uncle Pei overhears, it’s not much information."

Boss Pei fell silent for a moment, likely giving serious consideration to the empresaria’s suggestion.

Even though Jiang Xubai didn’t grasp the meaning behind their back-and-forth conversation, he soon heard Pei Yan sigh.

"Princess," he said, a trace of teasing flashing in his eyes, "you’re damn adorable when you’re after a bargain."

Jiang Xubai: "..."

That’s how it was when the three of us were together; always ready to throw a curveball just when you’re most engaged.

Actually, earlier, Zhang Xinxin had pestered to come out and play, and in some sense, I shouldn’t have refused.

Shuyao felt a slight embarrassment, glanced sideways, then turned to speak calmly, "It’s not a small bargain that I’m after."

Few could request help from the assistant to the chairman of a listed company. Based on current salary scales, Assistant Jiang’s annual salary was at least 400K, which put the daily rate past four digits. Taking up someone’s time for a few hours for their own personal business, they were indeed getting quite a deal.

Of course, the face value of Prince Zhi Zhen was far more than just four digits.

For the Crown Prince to embark on entrepreneurship was a significant event in life. Some resources need to be utilized if available.

Stubborn rejection and resistance wouldn’t only fail to bridge the father-son relationship but could cause them to drift further apart.

Shuyao couldn’t help but feel secretly pleased with her thoughtfully devised strategy, pulling up one corner of her mouth in a small, self-satisfied smile.

Her subtle gesture prompted Pei Yan to reach out and flick her.

She covered her sore forehead, complaining unhappily, "What was that for?"

Pei Yan, with a mischievous smirk, gazed at her with a look that revealed the playful thoughts in his mind.

Shuyao could never withstand such teasing.

Because Jiang Xubai was present, she tried hard to suppress the shame and anger on her face and coldly changed the subject, "What’s the plan after this, back to school?"

"Not going back." Pei Yan stood up using his hands for support on his knees and signaled to Jiang Xubai, "If you feel bad, just find someone to come over." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Knowing he was feeling bad, the boss did have some self-awareness.

Jiang Xubai silently took out his phone and dialed Zhang Xinxin’s number.

It was the first time they had gone to KTV in this kind of group.

Shuyao could tell, both gentlemen were in high spirits tonight.

After each downing three bottles of Carlsberg and becoming slightly tipsy, Jiang Xubai even pulled Pei Yan up to sing a duet of "Glory Days."

Zhang Xinxin clapped and cheered from below, picking up a fork from the dessert box to tap on the porcelain plate, hooting and jumping, truly a master at enlivening the atmosphere.

"Hey, I heard from Xiao Bai that you and your hubby are childhood sweethearts?" Zhang Xinxin took a break from her antics and suddenly leaned in.

Her bright and somewhat tipsy eyes carried a hint of enchantment.

Shuyao worried about how she would get three drunkards home tonight.

Before she could respond, Zhang Xinxin mournfully reflected on her own circumstances, "We both grew up bare-butt from childhood, but why is there such a big difference."

Shuyao asked, "You and Jiang Xu too?"

"Yeah, and it’s more than that." Zhang Xinxin, as if she had obtained some rare treasure, proudly declared, "We even have a childhood betrothal, both parents signed off on it."

A childhood betrothal sounded so far out of reach.

Even if her mother and godmother had some such intention many years ago, they still wanted the consent of the two parties involved and wished for things to take their natural course.

However, Jiang Xubai and Zhang Xinxin were different, with a written marriage agreement and parents’ signatures, it was all much more ceremonial.

Yet fate is often ironic, for all of Jiang Xubai’s indulgence and care for Zhang Xinxin came more from duty and parental decrees than from love.

Shuyao sat quietly in the corner, listening to Zhang Xinxin as she drank and shared her story.

Tonight, she really got to know and understand this senior sister up close for the first time.

Surface-level boisterous and spoiled, acting impetuously, but whenever she talked about the person she liked, her thoughts were as soft as they could be.

They say in love, whoever falls first loses.

Shuyao often wondered, if in this life Pei Yan had liked someone else, what kind of life she would have led.

It might have been mundane or dazzling, but it would have certainly lacked that bit of adventure and thus felt utterly tasteless.

The nightlife of young people, as if wishing they could slice time into several segments.

After ten, the four sat around a spicy hot pot on the street corner, discussing life, planning the future.

Zhang Xinxin, knowing that her Xiao Bai was joining Pei Yan Company, excitedly imagined a grand future vision.

Once the company grew, Xiao Bai would be a founding father, casually taking a position like a vice president was definitely no issue, by then she would be the wife of the vice president, driving her little million-dollar sports car in and out of upscale buildings—that scene, taking it back home to boast to the friends and family in the village, would make her parents so proud, the feeling of elation indescribable.

Naturally, aside from Zhang Xinxin, the rest of them seemed much more sober.

A table full of skewers, and when Jiang Xu was about to throw up, he casually said, "The registration is coming soon, Boss, you should give the company a name."

Shuyao was startled for a moment, then quickly came to her senses.

So busy with feasting day in, day out, they’d even forgotten such an important thing.

All three looked towards Pei Yan, waiting for him to make the decision.
