Who Said A Necromancer Can't Be A Priest?-Chapter 103: Ruined Date

Back at the academy, things had changed a lot. The news of Aaran's feat had reached the higher-ups and the families of the nobles. Everyone wanted Aaran gone from there, yet they faced similar problems like Runedral.

They didn't care whether he was a necromancer or a virtue. The Medibi academy was a place to cultivate talent. Since Aaran was a special admission, they couldn't just throw him out.

If it had been any other academy, the families would have pulled their children out of there. But it was the Medibi academy. Taking students out of there was simply impossible, as no parent wanted to ruin their futures.

The administration also explained everything to the families, and on the surface, they accepted that decision. However, they were already hatching plans to get rid of Aaran.

They couldn't get their children out, they would just have to get Aaran out of the academy. Just like that, some families united to drive him out of Medibi.

The academy was highly competitive. They only had to ensure Aaran would end up in the lower half of the rankings and they'd accomplish their goal, and doing that won't be difficult.

If a student missed a single test, it would be impossible for them to qualify for the next year. The families aimed for this spot. Aaran's departure from Velrune was publicly announced. The families knew one would have to take a carriage to Medibi after arriving from the magic portal.

They were planning to hire some men to attack him and delay his arrival just enough for the tests to begin. Since the academy was hell bent on not bending the rules, they won't allow Aaran to attend even if he was late by one second.

That was their brilliant plan.

"But where is that damn carriage?" the leaders of the goons asked, hiding in the bushes.

"There it is!"

The leader looked at the carriage and frowned. He didn't expect to see the next emperor to ride such a rundown carriage. Still, it made sense for Aaran to choose a commoner's carriage if he didn't want to attract attention.

He is quite intelligent.

The leader smirked.

But not intelligent enough, or he wouldn't mess with the wrong people.

As a carriage got closer, the bandits jumped in front, forcing the coachman to halt. Before he could do anything, two bandits took hold of the coachman and dragged him away while the rest focused on Aaran.

"No dark mage should be left alive!"

The bandits yelled their rehearsed lines. They did it so that the coachman would think the attack was temple's doing and not the nobles. That was also the reason they would not hurt him. The coachman would become the unintended conspirator.

"Open the carriage and drag that bastard out," the leader yelled. "He shall die tonight!"

The bandits got in position and were about to open the gate when it was kicked open from inside. The sheer force of the kick sent three of them flying, while the rest were shocked to see the one sitting inside.

Spoiler: It wasn't Aaran.

"Who shall die tonight?" Seraphina asked, conjuring a fireball. "Were you perhaps talking about yourselves?"

Hours ago in Velrune.

Just before Seraphina was about to teleport to the Magic Tower, she was summoned to the academy. It wasn't surprising, considering she left without informing anyone.

As a professor, her actions could be considered reckless, but as a lover, she did what any Juliette would do for her Romeo. That's why she didn't care about the consequences.

She could have ignored the summons, but she didn't, since it gave her an excuse to stay by Aaran's side. Unsurprisingly, Eleanor wasn't happy with this outcome, as she knew Seraphina would seduce Aaran into doing the tango and she would lose the only advantage she had over Sera.

But Eleanor couldn't do anything. Aaran had some expectations of her, and she didn't want to upset him.

"Shall we go?" Seraphina asked, linking arms with Aaran.

Once they arrived in Medibi teleportation center, Seraphina playfully suggested that Aaran should thank her for helping him. Aaran agreed and asked what she wanted.

That's how Seraphina ended up inside the carriage and Aaran as a coachman.

The bandits didn't know about it and captured Aaran, unable to see through his disguise. Now they were in huge trouble.

After all, the bandits didn't attack a student, but a professor of the Academy.

"…you dare ruin my date?"

Seraphina chuckled like a mad witch. The fireball in her hand kept getting bigger and bigger till it looked like a second sun in the blue sky.

Thunderstruck by the sheer amount of mana Seraphina poured into the attack, their weapons slipped from their hands. Not even a god could save them anymore.

"Do you have any idea how much convincing it took to make this happen, you bastards!?"

"S-Sister! Please forgive us! We'll arrange a perfect date for you! We'll decorate the entire city for you! Just don't kill us!"

The leader was the only one with enough guts to speak. Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save them. After all, once they reached the academy, they won't be allowed to intermingle as student and teacher.

The carriage ride was her only respite, and these duffers took it from Seraphina.

Meanwhile, Aaran had already dealt with the two thugs holding him and summoned Cerbie.

She won't like this… but I got an exam to take. Sorry, babe!

With that thought in his head, Aaran climbed on Cerbie's back, hurrying towards the academy. Now that he didn't have to hide his summons, traveling short distances was of little to no issue.

People were shocked when they saw the massive undead creature running in the middle of the streets, but Aaran didn't stop. He had five minutes to arrive at the exam hall, and besides, the residents would grow used to such sights soon.

Aaran had no intention of ever walking or sitting in a boring carriage anymore.
