Chapter 47: Beast Hunting

As soon as the howl rang across the precipice of the cliffs and around the entrance, wolves began appearing from every direction, stepping out from ridges, shadows, and cave mouths, forming a loose encirclement without rushing in.

They held their ground with eerie patience; their glowing eyes fixed on the intruders as if waiting for something deeper within the valley to give the real command.

Lin Xiaotian glanced once at the gathered wolves before shifting his gaze deeper into the valley, his eyes narrowing slightly as he understood the situation instantly.

These are just the front... the real hunters are still sitting inside watching... waiting for the right moment to strike.

"Stop here," he said calmly, and Han Leu immediately halted the ship mid-air, stabilizing it with precise control as the runes dimmed slightly.

Lin Xiaotian stepped forward and looked at everyone, his tone steady yet carrying pressure, "Let’s begin the hunt, and let me see how much you’ve progressed since the last time."

Don’t embarrass me out here... at least put on a decent show before you get torn apart.

The moment he finished speaking, everyone flew down using their techniques, streaking through the air with controlled momentum as they descended toward the valley floor.

Lin Xiaotian’s gaze shifted mid-descent and landed on Qiao Xiaoshan, who clearly wasn’t using any technique and was simply falling straight down.

Before Lin Xiaotian could intervene, Xiaoshan directly jumped the remaining distance, and the moment he landed, the rocks beneath him shattered into fragments as cracks spread outward from the impact.

Without pausing even for a breath, his halberd came down in a clean arc and split a wolf directly in half, the strike heavy and absurdly straightforward.

Lin Xiaotian’s mouth twitched slightly as he watched the scene unfold in front of him. "Beast..." he muttered under his breath, though his eyes lingered for a fraction longer before he followed down with the others.

As soon as he landed, the battlefield had already turned chaotic, with wolves rushing forward while the disciples met them head-on without hesitation.

Blades flashed, techniques collided, and bodies dropped rapidly as the fight ended almost as quickly as it had begun.

Lin Xiaotian’s expression slowly changed as he observed the situation carefully.

Every beast they were killing was either at Qi Transformation or low-level Foundation Establishment, and not a single stronger presence revealed itself.

This isn’t right this place shouldn’t be this empty... something’s off here.

Within a short time, all the wolves lay dead, their bodies scattered across the ground as the disciples stood there, their earlier momentum fading into confusion.

Lin Xiaotian took a step forward, clearly about to say something—

When suddenly a horrifying roar rang out from deep within the valley, cutting through the silence like a blade.

The sound carried weight, pressing against the air and making the ground tremble faintly as an oppressive force spread outward.

Lin Xiaotian’s eyes sharpened instantly as he felt the pressure contained within that roar. "That’s not Core Formation... that’s Golden Core, and not a weak one either."

Just then, a cold mechanical sound rang out in his mind. Ding.

A red system screen appeared before his eyes, glowing faintly with an ominous presence.

Demonic Mission Activated —

Phase 1: Kill the Demonized Beast.

Reward: Location of Demonic Corruption.

Lin Xiaotian’s pupils constricted slightly as the meaning settled in. Demonic... so that’s what’s been hiding here all this time.

And not far away, someone else had also heard that same roar.

Yan Chuan stood at the front of his ship; his gaze fixed on Lin Xiaotian’s vessel as he prepared to give the order to attack.

However, before he could speak, the roar echoed across the forest and reached them with full force.

For a brief moment, everything stilled as the sound settled into the air. Then slowly, a manic smile began to spread across Yan Chuan’s face as something deep within his blood stirred violently.

This was not fear but a twisted form of excitement that surfaced uncontrollably. Beside him, Yan Haitian’s expression changed in the same way, his breathing growing heavier as that same reaction appeared.

He spoke directly, his voice low but filled with a strange certainty, "Isn’t this the same aura as that being... the one that appeared that night and granted our Yan Family its blessing," his eyes narrowed slightly as realization settled in.

And for a brief moment, a shadow of primal fear flickered in both their eyes as that memory surfaced uninvited, heavy and suffocating.

That presence it had not arrived with noise or warning, yet it had filled the entire core compound, as if the world itself had bent to make space for it.

It had not even truly been there, yet their ancestor had been crushed like a chick before it, reduced without resistance, without struggle, without dignity.

And then as it had spoken... not as a being among them, but as something above them, giving a choice and a blessing that felt more like a chain. That thing was never something we could face

The fear lingered for a second longer before it twisted. "Looks like this is another one of its constructs... or something born from the same source."

A slow smile spread across his face as his tone turned colder, "If we can borrow its hand, we might be able to wipe them out without lifting a finger," his gaze darkened further."And after that we can take whatever remains... maybe even snatch the blessing from this beast itself."

As he spoke, a faint glint of greed and jealousy flickered in both their eyes, something dark and restless surfacing beneath their calm expressions. If it can be taken once... it can be taken again.

Yan Chuan then turned toward Yan Haitian, his expression settling back into control as he spoke decisively, "We wait for now, don’t move yet," his tone firm and measured."Let’s first see the strength of that thing the aura feels unstable, and that makes it dangerous."
