Chapter 48: Mistshroud Dreadfang

Just as everyone stood there contemplating, the mouth of the valley suddenly collapsed inward with a heavy rumble, and from deep within the broken ground, a behemoth began to rise slowly into view.

Its size was monstrous, nearly reaching the height of the valley edges, easily over seventy meters tall, its black fur swallowing light while demonic runes crawled faintly across its body, and its eyes burned a deep, unnatural red.

For a brief moment, no one moved as their gaze instinctively shifted behind it, and what they saw made their expressions stiffen slightly.

There was nothing left inside the valley depths, not a single wolf remaining, only torn ground and scattered remains, making it clear that whatever this beast had become, it had devoured all its subordinates.

The beast lowered its head slightly before releasing a heaven rending howl that tore through the air and pressed against everything in its path.

A vast sea of demonic qi erupted outward from its body, suffocating and heavy, and one by one, the disciples collapsed under the pressure, unable to withstand the weight of that presence.

Han Leu moved instantly, his divine sense spreading out as he pulled everyone back onto the ship in a single motion, their bodies reappearing on deck as the pressure eased just enough for them to breathe.

Even then, their faces remained pale, their bodies trembling slightly as they struggled to steady themselves under the lingering impact.

Lin Xiaotian and Han Leu looked at each other, both understanding the situation without needing to speak.

If that beast chose to chase them, its speed would easily surpass the ship, and even if they managed to escape, some disciples would be left dead or crippled.

Han Leu’s expression hardened as he stepped forward slightly, his voice calm but firm, "Let me take care of it, Sect Master."

Lin Xiaotian immediately interrupted him, his tone carrying concern, "You have already spent a significant amount of your qi, Elder Han."

Han Leu only smiled faintly, his gaze steady as he replied without hesitation, "Do you really think a Golden Core beast can do anything to me."

Lin Xiaotian paused for a moment before sighing softly, knowing Han Leu was no ordinary Golden Core expert, perhaps unlike anyone else at that level.

Yet even so, the beast before them was far from ordinary as well, its aura unstable yet terrifying in a way that felt wrong. After a brief silence, Lin Xiaotian spoke quietly, "Take care of yourself, Elder Han."

Han Leu nodded once and flew out toward the beast, his figure cutting through the air as his aura rose sharply, controlled yet powerful.

The beast’s gaze locked onto him instantly, its massive body shifting slightly as it sensed the threat approaching.

The moment Han Leu attacked, his sword cut forward in a clean arc, precise and direct, and the beast responded immediately, raising its gigantic claw to meet the strike head on.

The clash rang out heavily across the valley, the impact forcing the ground beneath them to sink slightly from the force.

From a distance, Yan Chuan and Yan Haitian watched the scene unfold, their ship slowing as their eyes remained fixed on the battle below.

A faint glint appeared in their eyes as they observed the situation carefully, quickly understanding the advantage in front of them.

Good... they didn’t run.

They had never expected Han Leu to be on that ship, and this alone changed everything in their favor. If these two exhausted each other in battle, the outcome would already be decided before they even made a move.

A grin slowly spread across Yan Chuan’s face as he leaned forward slightly, his gaze filled with anticipation.

"Just wait a few more moments" he muttered softly, his voice low and cold. "Soon... you will be meeting your parents."

Han Leu did not move immediately, his figure hovering just above the broken ground as his aura settled into a sharp, controlled state while the beast watched him without blinking.

For a brief moment, both stood still, the air between them tightening as if even the valley itself was waiting for the first strike.

Then the beast moved.

Its massive body surged forward, not fast but overwhelmingly heavy, each step crushing the earth beneath it as its gigantic claw tore through the air toward Han Leu. Han Leu shifted at the last instant, his figure slipping aside as the claw struck the ground and ripped open a deep trench.

Debris scattered outward as the valley floor split further, but Han Leu was already moving. His sword flashed once, a clean and precise strike landing across the beast’s side, cutting through fur and demonic runes.

A thick, dark substance oozed out slowly instead of spraying, as if resisting the very act of being cut. The beast did not retreat, its body twisting unnaturally fast as its tail swept across toward Han Leu’s position.

Han Leu raised his sword and met the attack directly, the collision forcing him backward as his feet carved into the ground before stabilizing. Heavy... far heavier than a normal Golden Core beast should be.

The beast opened its maw without howling this time, and a dense pulse of demonic qi condensed before bursting outward in a focused wave. The ground tore apart in a straight line as the wave rushed forward, forcing Han Leu to respond immediately.

He raised his blade and cut through it instead of blocking, his figure pushing forward through the collapsing energy as his next strike descended faster than before. The sword landed deeper this time, forcing the beast’s arm to jerk slightly as its movements became more violent.

It did not slow down instead it just became more violent.

It simply advanced again, claws digging into the ground as it forced itself forward with raw force. It doesn’t care about damage... it’s just pushing through everything...

The valley was already breaking apart under their exchange, ridges collapsing and stone shattering as the terrain lost its shape entirely. Every clash sent shock through the ground, widening cracks and scattering debris across the battlefield.

From above, Lin Xiaotian watched without moving, his expression no longer relaxed as his eyes followed every exchange carefully.

Han Leu can handle it... but this is dragging... and dragging is never good.

Below, the beast raised both claws at once and slammed them down with full force. Han Leu met the attack head-on, his sword intercepting as the impact forced the ground beneath them to collapse entirely.

The earth gave way, both figures sinking several meters down as cracks spread outward and dust filled the air, obscuring everything for a brief moment. Then Han Leu broke through first, his figure rising above the dust as his sword cut downward again, forcing the beast back.

Not enough.

The beast roared again, this time closer, louder, its demonic qi surging outward in a thicker wave that spread across the entire valley. Even from the ship above, the pressure could be felt pressing upward, heavy and suffocating.

Lin Xiaotian’s eyes narrowed slightly as he finally turned away from the battle.

This isn’t stabilizing... it’s getting worse.

Without hesitation, he walked straight into the inner chamber of the ship, his movements quick and precise as he opened the storage array. Rows of spirit stones lay inside, glowing faintly as they were stacked neatly in place.

He did not count or hesitate for even a moment. Lin Xiaotian directly began dumping every single spirit stone into the core chamber of the ship.
