Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds-Chapter 522 - 29 Aya
He picked up the scattered golden hammer, longbow, and silver spear from the ground and looked up at the Barrier that trapped him. The Barrier wasn’t complex. Given time, he could have easily broken through, but he had no chance under the siege of the two followers.
Soon, Carl broke the Barrier, gathered the sheer fabric, and cast his gaze downward towards a thin figure.
Was it her?
"RAAAGH!"
Before Carl could descend, a deafening roar came from afar, accompanied by a thick killing intent, "Aiste! You killed my dearest brother!"
?
A twitch appeared at the corner of Carl’s mouth.
In the distance, dark clouds churned and gales swept, heralding the arrival of a dragon that spanned over a hundred meters as it burst through the void.
Dragon Claw Strike!
The dragon claw struck through the air; what seemed like a simple grasp held an all-encompassing resonance.
This was... the Power of Laws!
Although the world’s rules limited the true use of the Power of Laws, it still possessed some potency.
Behind the dragon claw, the Black Dragon’s eyes blazed with intense fury.
To ensure the plan proceeded smoothly, it had not approached the City of Death, thus lowering the guard of Mei Weiya and others. And so it had been. After learning the Black Dragon’s location, Mei Weiya had felt safe to leave the City of Death, and the others were similarly ensnared.
Unexpectedly, the two Divine’s Favored that were supposed to deal with Carl were killed in mere moments. This included Aiste.
"Hmph!"
Looking up at the incoming dragon claw, Carl’s expression remained unchanged as he gently raised his hands to meet it.
Ten Thousand Buddha Hands!
The power provided by his Silver Body was solid and substantial, like the earth, also encompassing Third-tier Law. The howling True Qi formed the phantom of a Buddha, no longer as vast as before but tightly enveloping Carl’s body. Appearing almost lifelike, it similarly raised its hands to collide with the oncoming dragon claw.
"BANG!"
Ripples visible to the naked eye spread through the void, and the white clouds within a radius of several miles were torn apart by the tremendous force.
Carl’s figure swayed, and the Black Dragon also flipped its body to stop midair.
Third-tier?
Looking down at the tiny human figure below, a hint of wariness appeared in the Black Dragon’s eyes, A native... How can this be?
Even with the favor of Exotic Realm Gods, how had this world’s native ascended to the Third-tier so quickly? The world’s rules were still in place, and even the Divine were helpless.
"SWOOSH!"
With a flicker of its form, the Black Dragon transformed into a human shape, a dark Long Spear appearing in its hand, pointed at Carl from afar.
A pseudo Fourth-order Artifact!
The intense killing intent made Carl’s flesh ache, but after the advancement of his Holy Demon Transformation, it was still within an endurable range. If he hadn’t advanced, today would have definitely been disastrous.
"RUMBLE..."
Just as the man and the dragon were about to engage, thunder roared in the distant sky, and two massive presences were rapidly approaching. One was very familiar, undoubtedly Mei Weiya. Having driven away Hong Qiu, Mei Weiya and the others had rushed back, fortunately arriving just in time.
"Hmph!"
The Black Dragon’s eyes shifted slightly, and seeing this, it let out a cold snort, "Today, you’re lucky, but this isn’t over between us!"
Saying this, it turned and transformed back into a Black Dragon, surging through the clouds towards the skyline, fleeing into the distance.
Though powerful, it was no match for the combined assault of three Third-tiers. Carl’s physical strength was formidable. Mei Weiya, having been at Second Order Peak for hundreds of years, had long since mastered various Magic Doors to their core. Crucially, she had fully grasped the Fourth-tier Void Gauntlets, her strength even surpassing ordinary Third-tiers.
As for the other person...
"Carl," Mei Weiya appeared nearby, sighing in relief upon seeing Carl, and reached out to introduce, "this is the tutor of Night Owl, also an Upper-level Vassal of the Death God, the Death God’s Wing, Abel."
Death God’s Wing?
Carl’s gaze flickered as he nodded toward the other. Usually, a Divine’s Upper-level Vassals don’t have titles; only Demigods and Divine Sons do. This indicated that Abel was either exceptionally strong or had a special standing; in any case, he was definitely extraordinary.
* * *
On a bare mountain peak, a stone path protruded outwards. A figure was curled up at its end, overlooking the forest below.
Carl descended from the sky and slowly drifted to one side.
"Ayala."
"...Uncle Carl."
The two casually greeted each other, and the scene fell into silence.
"It has been a long time." After waiting for a moment, Carl took the initiative to break the silence, "How did you become like this?"
Since following him, Ayala had never worried about food or drink, and her originally thin body had become full and plump. But now, she was white-haired and skeletal, her clothes tattered, resembling a repulsive old crone.
"The Divine Domain collapsed, and divine fire descended from the sky." Ayala looked up at the sky, her murky eyes revealing a complex expression. "One of the Divine Fires struck Tortuga Island, causing space-time to distort and almost all the islanders to die. I was sheltered by the Bodhi Tree and luckily survived. But the others... all died."
Her voice was flat, like stagnant water, showing no emotional fluctuation even when speaking of sorrowful events.
Carl sat cross-legged beside her, "If I were there, maybe things would have been better."
"Everything is guided by fate." Ayala shook her head gently. "The Gods would be destroyed by the War God. From the moment fate was anchored, nothing could be changed anymore. They thought killing the War God could change the outcome, but they didn’t realize it was their actions that led to the destruction of the Gods and the collapse of the Divine Domain."
Carl was stunned. Upon reflection, it was indeed so. This world had experienced several conjunctions of Heavenly Spheres; other worlds had no ability to enter. As a result, in their attempt to kill the War God, the Gods suffered heavy losses, which then triggered internal strife, leading to the collapse of the Divine Domain. It seemed as if every cause and effect was predestined by fate!
But how could Ayala know about this? Carl turned his head to look at Ayala and saw densely interwoven threads in her eyes. Threads of Fate!
"You..."
"Peering into the world’s end, even the Fate Goddess had to pay with her life." Ayala cracked a smile. "Perhaps from seeing too many fated resolutions, she grew bored with everything. The Fate Goddess wanted to see further... She wanted to see her own future, the future of the Gods... So she died."
Carl furrowed his brows.
"Death is also a release." Ayala chuckled lowly, her head bowed. "I didn’t understand before, but now I finally see clearly: the Fate Goddess was seeking death."
"Uncle."
"Hmm," Carl responded.
"We are not livestock raised by Divines," Ayala spoke up. "There shouldn’t be Gods, neither here nor in your world, Uncle. There should be no Gods."
Hmm? Carl’s expression changed. He had never told anyone that he could traverse two worlds; this was his biggest secret. Ayala actually knew! Fate?
"Sometimes, a temporary departure is the only way to solve the problem." Ayala’s hand trembled as she reached up to touch Carl’s arm. "Uncle, will this world be free from lofty Divines in the future?"
Carl remained silent. He clearly understood Ayala’s thoughts. But to slaughter all the Gods... how could that possibly be done?
"There will be." After thinking, Carl said slowly, "There will be such a day."
Upon hearing these words, Ayala’s face showed a trace of a relieved smile. "Uncle, your words are the arrangement of fate. I believe that day may be far off, but it will eventually come."
In her eyes, the future, which originally had countless branches, suddenly anchored the moment Carl spoke.
The future was now certain!
"Tortuga Island is nearby. It has turned into a volcano, and inside is what we have prepared for you." Ayala gripped Carl’s arm, her expression solemn. "Now, accept the guidance of fate. Uncle... it’s nice to know you."
As her words fell, her body dissipated at a visible rate, leaving only a transparent thread in place.
Carl sat cross-legged for a long time before gently touching that ’Thread of Fate’.
The next moment, he appeared at the bottom of a volcano.
