A sphere of pure destruction formed in her palm—She hurled it straight down.
BOOOOOOM!
The explosion swallowed the battlefield whole.
Dust and debris shot into the air, blotting out the light. The shockwave ripped through the ruins, sending chunks of stone flying.
But Elvira wasn't done. She stretched a hand toward the cloud of destruction, mana surging in her veins. "Come on, ugly. I know you're still in there."
The dust settled. The Alpha stood in the crater. Its body warped, shifting into something leaner, sharper—its exoskeleton now laced with the very magic it had consumed.
Elvira's pulse pounded.
Then the Alpha vanished. A claw rushed for her throat, She barely dodged.
A second claw slashed for her ribs—She threw up a barrier.
CRACK!
The force shattered it instantly, sending her hurtling backward. Elvira twisted mid-air, kicking off a floating slab of debris, fingers moving fast. "Fusion Magic—Cataclysm Requiem!"
Fire, ice, and lightning howled into existence, spiraling into a whirling storm of destruction. She launched it again, the battlefield trembling beneath the weight of her power.
The Alpha had faced this spell three times before. Twice, it had taken the hit. This time, it chose to do something else.
It tilted its head, watching the attack come, its six eyes gleaming with amusement. Then, in a voice laced with mocking boredom, it spoke. "The same spell again? Is that really all you've got?"
It stood there. Unmoving. The maelstrom crashed down upon it, fire and ice colliding, lightning crackling through the storm.
BOOOOOM!
For a moment, the battlefield vanished in chaos. The very air twisted, the ground shook, the sheer force of the spell ripping through the ruins.
Then suddenly—it stopped. The spell imploded in on itself, as though something had devoured it whole.
When the smoke cleared, the Alpha stood, untouched. It exhaled slowly, faint traces of steam curling from its body. Its lips curled into a cruel smile. "The male outsider put up more of a fight than you."
Elvira didn't react. She didn't even blink. Instead, she simply raised her hands again. And cast the spell again.
This time, she poured even more mana into it.
The storm surged back to life, the very air screaming as the raw elemental forces intensified. The wind howled, arcs of lightning snapping against the ground, frozen spikes jutting from the earth.
The Alpha's brows furrowed slightly. For the first time, it looked annoyed. Then—it opened its mouth. And swallowed the entire spell.
The moment the magic vanished, the Alpha's body cracked. Flames licked along its chitin, veins of lightning pulsed beneath its skin, frost formed along its shifting exoskeleton.
Then—it attacked. Faster than before. A blur of shifting limbs and elemental fury.
Elvira moved back, her fingers blurring through rapid spell formations.
"Frost Nova!"
Ice erupted beneath the Alpha's feet— but it didn't even slow down. It stepped through the freezing storm like it was nothing, the heat of its own stolen magic melting the ice before it could even take hold.
"Storm Piercer!"
A bolt of lightning crackled forward— The Alpha twisted, its claw swatting the attack aside like a fly.
"Hallowed Barrage!"
A hundred golden lances rained down, piercing through the air like divine judgment. The Alpha walked straight through them.
Every spell she cast—every desperate attempt to slow it down—was useless. Then—it was in front of her. Before she could react—a clawed hand shot out.
SNAP.
A crushing grip closed around her throat.
Elvira's body went rigid, her air supply cut off instantly. Her legs kicked uselessly, her hands twitched, trying to cast— but its grip was too strong.
The Alpha lifted her off the ground, its six eyes glowing with cruel satisfaction. It watched her struggle, waiting for the fight in her to fade.
The Alpha's smirk widened. "That's it?" It tilted its head slightly, its tone filled with mocking amusement. "You talked so much… but in the end, you're nothing."
But Elvira didn't falter. Instead, her smile widened. "Finally got you."
The Alpha's six eyes narrowed in confusion. "What?" It didn't understand what had just happened, but the answer came quickly—far too quickly.
SQUELCH!
A sharp, searing pain tore through its chest. Its body jerked violently as a jagged pickaxe burst through its exoskeleton, black blood spraying into the air.
It barely had time to process the impossible attack before an explosion of flames, ice, and lightning erupted from within. The stolen elements inside its body detonated all at once, sending arcs of raw energy searing through its insides.
And then, Ben appeared.
A shadow behind the Alpha's back, his grin sharp, his eyes burning. He wrenched the pickaxe deeper into its body, leaning in close. "Miss me?"
The Alpha's claws twitched, struggling to react. But it was too slow. Ben ripped the pickaxe upward.
SCCCCCHHHLLLK!
The metal tore through bone, exoskeleton, and muscle, splitting the Alpha's chest open as he dragged it skyward, carving through flesh with ease.
The Alpha roared in agony, its body thrashing violently. But Ben didn't stop. He slammed a foot into its back, pinning it down, then raised the pickaxe again.
BAM!
The weapon crashed into its shoulder, crushing armor, dislocating joints, shattering the limb entirely.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Each swing dug deeper, each impact a wet, sickening crunch as he ripped through its body piece by piece.
The Alpha tried to shift, to morph, to escape. Its body pulsed, desperate to reconfigure, to break free.
Ben saw it. He didn't let it. He planted his foot down, anchoring the Alpha in place. Then he swung again.
SPLURCH!
The pickaxe hooked beneath its ribs. With a grunt, Ben wrenched it sideways. Half the Alpha's torso went with it.
Black blood gushed from the wound, its insides laid bare. Sparks of unstable elemental power flickered within the exposed cavity, the stolen magic turning against its host.
The Alpha's six eyes widened, its expression frozen between shock and agony. It opened its mouth, perhaps to speak, to fight back— But Ben didn't give it the chance.
His gaze turned cold, his lips curling into a smirk. He lifted his free hand, fingers stretching, twisting—morphing. "Consume."
His arm shifted, flesh warping into a gaping maw, Then—he devoured the Alpha whole.
