WorldCrafter - Building My Underground Kingdom-Chapter 107: Oh… I see
Mana whirled around her hand, solidifying into the shape of a blade. The air crackled as the weapon took form, an extension of her will—pure energy molded into a razor-sharp edge.
She had seen it. Her spells barely scratched the Alpha. Worse, she suspected it could absorb them entirely. That's why she hadn't wasted time casting anything stronger—there was no point.
So she chose something else. Close combat. Her goal wasn't victory. It was time. Time for Ben to recover.
She stepped forward. Once. Twice. On the third step—she froze. Her body locked in place, not from fear, not from hesitation—but realization. Her eyes widened, flickering with shock for a moment… then narrowed.
A slow, sharp grin curled across her lips. "Oh… I see."
The mana sword vanished, dispersing back into mana. In its place, a new magic circle appear one the air. Her plan changed.
Elvira raised her hand—and cast. Layers of intricate glyphs wove together, overlapping like interlocking gears, each amplifying the one before it. The air itself thrummed, charged with raw mana as her spell ignited.
"Storm Piercer!"
A spear of lightning roared to life, twisting through the air.
The smoke cleared, revealing the Alpha standing firm. Cracks ran through its tough shell, steam rising from the damage. Its six glowing eyes flickered, locking onto the incoming attacks.
The alpha moved , a blur of dark shadow and flashing claws.. But this time, Elvira was ready. "Accel Tempest!"
She vanished.
A blink of motion—then she reappeared mid-air behind the Alpha, her hands already weaving another spell.
"Frost Nova!" Ice exploded outward in a jagged eruption, frost creeping along the creature's limbs in an attempt to bind it in place. But the Alpha only scoffed, the ice cracked into pieces in second.
Yet Elvira was already moving. She wasn't trying to freeze it. She was forcing its reaction.

The second it turned to shake off the frost—"Hallowed Barrage!"
A hundred golden lances rained down in an unrelenting storm, streaking toward the Alpha from every direction.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The Alpha weaved between them, twisting unnaturally, its claws deflecting the mana projectile like it was a object. It slashed, spun, and even whipped its tail, batting them aside with ease.
But Elvira's eyes burned with focus. "Aetheric Lance!" A single, piercing spear of condensed magic shot forward at blinding speed, faster than the others. A feint.
The Alpha dodged—right into the real trap.
"Arcane Implosion!" A sphere of compressed destruction detonated where the Alpha had moved.
KRAKOOOOOM!
The explosion swallowed it whole, shockwaves tearing through the battlefield, sending debris and dust billowing into the air.
Elvira didn't let up. "Fusion Magic—Cataclysm Requiem!"
Fire, ice, and lightning twisted together, merging into a howling storm of raw devastation. She flung it forward, the very air distorting from the sheer force of the spell.
BOOOOOOM!
The battlefield erupted. Scorched earth shattered beneath the impact. Waves of fire, ice, and electricity carved through the ruins, reducing stone and metal alike to dust. The sheer heat left molten scars in the ground, while frozen shards hung in the air like razor-edged death traps.
Elvira landed on a broken slab of Grimslate, panting, her body trembling from the exertion. That had to do something.
Then, the dust cleared. The Alpha stood there. Six glowing eyes locked onto her, its exoskeleton cracked again.
A wisp of frost clung to its shoulder. A faint scorch mark marred one of its claws. That was it.
The Alpha rolled its shoulders, flexing its claws. Then it smiled. "Impressive."
It vanished. Elvira's instincts screamed.
BAM!
A clawed fist smashed into her stomach. The force crushed the air from her lungs, her ribs screaming in agony as she was sent rocketing backward.
CRASH!
She smashed through a broken pillar, her body bouncing off the ground before skidding to a stop. Blood dripped from her lips, her vision blurring.
But she forced herself to move. She wasn't done. She flicked her fingers, drawing a quick rune in the air. "Accel Tempest!"
In an instant, she was back on her feet. A shadow loomed over her.
Elvira ducked.
The Alpha's claw whistled past where her head had been a fraction of a second ago. She didn't hesitate. She spun, her hands tracing another magic circle. "Storm Piercer!"
Lightning crackled around her fingers, coiling into a jagged spear as she slammed it point-blank into the Alpha's chest.
BOOM!
Electricity ripped through the creature, arcs of power lashing outward. The force sent them both skidding apart, dust kicking up in their wake.
The Alpha exhaled, steam curling from the cracks in its chitin. Its claws flexed, the movement slow, deliberate—unbothered.
Its six eyes gleamed with something deeper than mere aggression. Amusement. Anticipation.
Elvira dragged a sleeve across her lips, smearing away the blood. Then, she grinned. "That's it? I thought you're stronger than the other."
The Alpha moved. its limbs stretching mid-motion, jagged spines bursting from its back as its form morphed into something even more monstrous.
But Elvira was already casting. "Frost Nova!" Ice exploded outward in a frozen shockwave—only for the Alpha's skin to twist, shifting into molten-black plating that radiated intense heat.
The ice barely touched it before melting into vapor.
Elvira clicked her tongue. She thrust a hand forward "Storm Piercer!"
A jagged spear of lightning screamed through the air, its tip twisting in unpredictable arcs.
The Alpha didn't dodge. Instead, it split its own arm in half, reshaping it into an open maw lined with fanged tendrils—and swallowed the spell whole.
Then—BOOOM! It fired Storm Piercer back at her.
"He can do that!?". She rolled mid-air, barely avoiding the blast as it ripped past her, detonating in the distance. She landed, skidding back, breathing hard.
The Alpha grinned. "Not bad. But I can play this game longer than you can."
Elvira spat blood to the side. Then—she laughed. "Longer? You think this is about endurance? No, no." Her hands snapped up—runes flaring in rapid succession, spells weaving together faster than before. "You're just giving me more ways to break you."
Hallowed Barrage!
A hundred golden lances materialized—then split into two hundred.
