Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back-Chapter 312: I’m Not Smelly
"So, Ms. Sinclair, who were you originally planning to send that to?" The man’s deep, magnetic voice was laced with a mysterious hint of danger.
Tanya Sinclair felt a slight warmth in her ears.
"I meant to send it to Daisy."
Declan Pierce paused, seemingly trying to figure out who ’Daisy’ was.
He figured it out.
"Daisy Bell?"
"Yes." Since they were talking about Daisy Bell, Tanya Sinclair continued naturally, "Daisy said earlier she wanted to find some time for us to... have a meal together."
Caden was still in the backseat, so Tanya Sinclair didn’t want to be too direct.
But Declan Pierce understood.
He let out a low laugh: "Is this the little mother-in-law’s inspection? Got it, I’ll take care of it."
Tanya Sinclair: "Don’t scare her, Daisy was afraid of you back in college."
Declan Pierce replied meaningfully: "Haven’t you noticed that, except for you, everyone else is afraid of me?"
Actually, she used to be a little afraid of him too...
"Alright, I need to drive now. Have a good meal." Tanya Sinclair gently reminded.
"Sure, drive safely."
"Okay."
Tanya Sinclair hung up, glanced up at the rearview mirror, and realized her lips were curved in a faint smile.
She seemed to be smiling more than before these days...
Tanya Sinclair touched her face and drove towards the school.
On the way, she noticed a black Mercedes behind her, seemingly following her. Just as she was about to get suspicious, the Mercedes suddenly sped up, overtook her, and drove ahead.
The car windows were tinted dark, so she couldn’t see inside, but she didn’t recognize the license plate.
It seemed she was just overthinking.
Tanya Sinclair shifted her focus back to driving.
Meanwhile, inside the Mercedes.
"Daddy, why aren’t we driving the family car today?" Joy asked, playing with her little toy.
"That car’s in for repairs." Vincent Hawthorne answered, watching Tanya Sinclair’s car through the rearview mirror.
She might not know much about cars, but she was familiar with his car.
If she saw his car, Tanya Sinclair would likely avoid it at all costs...
Outside the school gate were temporary parking spaces for parents. Tanya Sinclair found an empty spot and parked there, noticing that the same Mercedes she’d encountered on the road was parked next to her.
No wonder it followed me; turns out they’re a parent at this school too.
Tanya Sinclair didn’t think much of it and walked Caden into the school.
The gifted class had its own Redstone Building, and on the way, they passed by Joy’s classroom building. Tanya couldn’t help but glance at Joy’s classroom.
There were two little kids at the entrance, but neither was Joy.
"Aunt Sinclair!" a crisp voice suddenly called from behind.
Tanya turned to see Abby jogging over to her.
"Caden brother." Abby greeted Caden, then looked at Tanya Sinclair, her big eyes curving like crescent moons, "Aunt Sinclair, you look so pretty today, like a fairy!"
"Thank you, sweetheart. You look particularly pretty today too." Tanya Sinclair smiled.
She was genuinely happy for Abby; Felix Kendall had taken good care of her. Abby’s once skinny face had started to fill out, and she had become much more lively.
Today she was even wearing a pretty princess dress with a cute hair clip.
Felix Kendall was truly treating Abby like a little princess.
"Abby, Aunt needs to go to Caden brother’s side first. I’ll come over to see you later, okay?"
"Really?" Abby visibly brightened, but then sensibly added, "Aunt Sinclair, just being with us in our class would make me happy, seeing you makes me happy."
Abby’s experiences had made her more aware and cautious beyond her years.
Tanya Sinclair suddenly understood why Felix Kendall had made the effort to ask her to keep Abby company, even during dangerous times.
Tanya Sinclair crouched down to adjust Abby’s collar, speaking gently, "Joy has her dad and other company; she doesn’t need me. Aunt Sinclair promised someone to spare time today just for you."
On the second floor.
Joy stood in a corner, watching from above as Tanya Sinclair and Abby chatted and laughed below. The sunlight cast a glow around Tanya, making her seem gentle and beautiful, as if her very hair radiated light.
"Wow, is that Abby’s mom? She’s so pretty!" other kids nearby noted.
"Isn’t that Caden Hawthorne next to her? Isn’t that Joy’s brother?"
Erin and Sierra, as Joy’s good friends, had both seen Tanya Sinclair before, and they soon recognized her.
"No way! That lady is Joy’s nanny!" Erin turned to Joy, "Joy, how come your nanny looks so pretty? You don’t look like her. I think she looks more like Abby..."
"Not at all!"
Joy huffed and stomped back into the classroom.
At the same moment, Tanya Sinclair below sensed something, looked up, and only caught a glimpse of Joy’s annoyed figure disappearing into the classroom door.
Tanya Sinclair was momentarily taken aback; it seemed Joy was wearing a dress she had bought for her before...
"Mom, let’s go," Caden reminded her from the side.
"Okay." Tanya Sinclair withdrew her gaze and said goodbye to Abby, "Bye, Abby, see you later."
"Bye, Aunt Sinclair."
Abby watched Tanya Sinclair leading Caden away, her eyes full of envy.
How wonderful it was for Caden and Joy to have such a good mother.
Abby turned with her little backpack and headed back to her classroom. As soon as she entered, she saw Joy sitting there.
Abby bounded over excitedly, "Joy, just now downstairs..."
"Go away, you smell, don’t talk to me!" Joy shouted angrily.
Abby froze instantly.
The other kids in the classroom also looked over.
Abby’s face turned crimson, and she stammered, "I’m not smelly. I take a bath every day now..."
But Joy turned her face away, ignoring her. Abby dropped her head, first wiping her hands, then quietly took out the neatly wrapped snack and a pack of spicy strips from her backpack, placing them gently on Joy’s desk.
"The nanny made this; it’s very tasty. She packed it; I didn’t touch it."
She then walked back to her spot in the corner and sat down.
Joy, although she could be a bit of a princess, had always been kind to her.
"I’m not smelly... You should eat this, I snuck it in for you."
Abby whispered and returned to her seat.
Joy stared at the spicy strips and snack on her desk, feeling a pang of sadness.
Abby used to bring her a small pack of spicy strips every day as "protection money"...
"Little beggar, always playing the pity card!"
Joy grabbed the spicy strips, intending to toss them into the trash, but when she turned and saw Abby’s teary eyes, she hesitated.
Eventually, she stashed the items back in her desk.
Meanwhile, Tanya Sinclair and Caden entered the classroom, immediately drawing the attention of all the parents.
Caden seemed used to being the center of attention and naturally guided Tanya Sinclair to the seat marked with his name.
As soon as Tanya Sinclair sat down, the parent next to her leaned over, familiar and friendly.
"You must be Caden’s mom, right? I’ve heard so much about you. I’m Mrs. Bobby!" she said, looking round and amiable alongside her son.
"Hello, Mrs. Bobby."
"I’ve heard from Caden, talking to Big Bobby, that you’re collaborating with government departments. You’re a genius in the pharmaceutical field! Truly admirable."
Tanya Sinclair was surprised to hear how proud Caden was of his mother outside.
"You flatter me, Mrs. Bobby."
Mrs. Bobby waved her hand dismissively: "Ah, you’re too modest! It’s no wonder Caden is so handsome and smart; he takes after his mom! That Cindy Lynn from before bragged about being Caden’s mom. I could tell from her demeanor that there’s no way she could have given birth to a genius like Caden!"
