You Are My Only Sunshine-Chapter 1539: A Strange Feeling
"If she’s so capable, why doesn’t she do it herself? What’s she using us for?" Yan Zhufei snorted coldly, "But it also depends on whether her son has that fate to enjoy it. Wait, Yunyun, didn’t you say Wei Zhongchen’s condition couldn’t be treated? How come this medicine works for him?"
Mo Jun nodded. "Of course it works, but it’s just a drop in the bucket; the effects are short-lived."
"Well, that’s a bargain for them." Yan Zhufei hated the Wei matriarch so much that she also didn’t like Wei Zhongchen. However, her ruthlessness was only in words, not in action.
Seeing her keep her promise not to kill the Wei matriarch for so many years shows she has her own bottom line.
But Mo Jun was concerned about something else.
For some reason, perhaps a matter of women’s intuition, she always felt the conversations between the Wei matriarch and Wei Zhongchen were odd.
This strange feeling quickly returned to Mo Jun.
Wei Zhongchen tasted the benefits; once his body felt tired, he couldn’t wait for Mo Jun to inject him with medicine again. The dose Mo Jun gave could only provide temporary relief, and soon Wei Zhongchen would feel weak and uncomfortable again.
He demanded another injection, and Mo Jun didn’t refuse; it wouldn’t kill him, but it couldn’t save him either.
"Miss Luo, your medicine is very effective for me. This is the first time I’ve seen hope for recovery; thank you very much," Wei Zhongchen said with a smile and gratitude when Mo Jun injected him.
"You’re welcome, but the effects of my medicine on you aren’t actually very significant," Mo Jun replied.
"No, it’s already great. I believe that over time, I can slowly recover. Miss Luo, how can I repay you?" Wei Zhongchen asked gratefully again.
Mo Jun felt Wei Zhongchen was overly polite. He should indeed be grateful to her, but for some reason, she didn’t quite feel he was sincere.
"Mr. Wei, you’re too kind; you don’t need to repay me."
"How could I not? Once I’m better, I’ll fulfill any request you have. Do you have any wishes I could help with?"
"Sorry, I don’t have any wishes."
Wei Zhongchen laughed, "That’s okay. This is just a token of my appreciation; please accept it."
Suddenly, Wei Zhongchen handed her a check, and Mo Jun was momentarily stunned.
"This is from my mother, and now I’m giving it to you. It’s useless for me to keep it. You’re young and beautiful; you can do a lot with it. I hope you’ll accept it."
The check was blank; he really was generous, giving her an empty check.
"Mr. Wei, wait until I’ve cured you, then it won’t be too late to give it to me," Mo Jun smiled and didn’t reach out to take it, then got up and left.
"Miss Luo, you said you’d cure me, right?" Mo Jun had just taken two steps when Wei Zhongchen’s excited voice suddenly rang out.
Mo Jun turned back and replied calmly, "I will do my best."
"Thank you..." Wei Zhongchen’s eyes were filled with grateful tears, as if a helpless and pitiful person finally saw hope.
Mo Jun thought, maybe she was overthinking. Wei Zhongchen was probably not a problem; he was just too pitiful.
But as she walked out of the ward and left, she suddenly saw her faint reflection on the clean glass wall.
Because she had to be close to Wei Zhongchen, Mo Jun had to remove her makeup. She hadn’t worn any for the past two days, with nothing on her face, naturally exposing the pink markings on her face.
