Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 418: Too Late
She stood at the entrance of the surveillance room, thinking carefully, and finally decided to call Victor Grant first.
No matter what Adam Owens’ purpose for assassinating Heather Holt was, he was, after all, her ex-boyfriend, and she had to save him.
"Victor, where are you? Aunt wants to see you." May Morgan dared not mention Adam’s matter over the phone, fearing Victor might get angry and kill Adam immediately, so she quickly lied.
Hearing May say that Heather wanted to see him, Victor indeed became anxious and hurriedly asked, "What’s going on? May, is my mom okay?"
"She... she has something to say to you. I couldn’t persuade her otherwise; she insists you come. I think she’s not in a very good mood, so you’d better come back?"
"Okay, wait for me!" Upon hearing this, Victor promptly hung up the phone in a hurry.
An hour later, he finally arrived. May calculated the time and guessed he wasn’t at the hospital then, so he must have gone to deal with Adam.
Don’t be fooled by Victor’s obedient and compliant nature with her; he can be ruthless with others. May feared his temper, as he might accidentally torture Adam to death.
"May, how is my mom really?" Victor grabbed May’s hand and hastily tried to push open Heather’s ward door to have a look at the situation.
Seeing him trying to enter, May awkwardly pulled his arm back and answered, "Victor, don’t worry, actually... Aunt is fine, I, I..."
Victor frowned, noticing her hesitant look, and asked, "What’s the matter with you?"
May paused for a moment, then looked up at him and asked, "Victor, did you have Adam taken away?"
Victor hadn’t expected May to know so quickly and was clearly stunned, but he calmly nodded and replied, "What if I did?"
Hearing Victor admit that he had Adam captured, May immediately panicked, "You can’t do this. Adam is injured. What if you torture him to death?"
"Injured? I saw his strength last night when he stabbed my dad!" Thinking of the scene where his father was stabbed last night, Victor ground his teeth, his facial muscles contorting with rage: "I don’t care who he is, murder demands payback, debt requires repayment. If he dared stab my parents, I’m going to make him understand the consequences of messing with Victor Grant!"
Seeing the ruthlessness on Victor’s face, May felt a drumbeat of anxiety in her heart, "Victor, there must be some misunderstanding. I know Adam, he couldn’t do something like that, maybe... maybe someone manipulated him?"
Not to mention that Adam can’t even get out of bed now and has no capability to kill, but even if he did, with his mild demeanor and inability to harm even an ant, how could he suddenly take up a knife to stab someone? And stab people like Heather Holt and Justin Grant whom he didn’t even know?
When May pleaded for Adam, Victor flew into a rage, shaking off her hand fiercely, and harshly said, "You’re still siding with outsiders now? May, do the people of the Grant Family mean nothing to you?"
Frightened by Victor’s anger, May trembled slightly; she was already exhausted from taking care of Heather the previous night. Now arguing with Victor, she became agitated and almost fainted.
"Victor, it’s not what you think, Uncle Grant and Aunt Jennings are like second parents to me, I’m also very upset about what happened to Uncle Grant. But you’re making assumptions before the truth is clear, and that’s not right."
"You’re right, something’s fishy about this, but so what? The fact remains that Adam stabbed my father. Even if I don’t act personally, if I handed him over to the police, would he be okay?"
"No, he won’t be, but Adam’s temper is always gentle, and he seldom has conflicts with others. He must have been manipulated to act against your parents with such violence."
May’s words made Victor calm down slightly. He looked down at her face carefully and suddenly sneered.
"Maybe you’re right, fine then, I’ll go interrogate that scumbag Adam and see if someone indeed instructed him to do this?"
After saying this, Victor shook off May and turned to leave. Seeing the fierce gleam in his eyes, May panicked even more. How was he going to deal with Adam? Would he force an admission out of him, or make him confess that Vincent instigated him to do it?
"Victor Grant, don’t act on impulse!" Watching Victor leave in large strides, May also became anxious and quickly rushed to catch up.
She grabbed Victor’s hand and desperately pleaded, "Victor Grant, you can’t treat Adam like that; hand him over to the police, let them handle it."
"Are you kidding?" Suddenly in a fit of temper, Victor pushed May away, causing her to be thrown against the nearby wall.
May hit her head on the wall, and suddenly everything went black as she lost consciousness.
When she woke up again, she found that she had been placed on the large bed in a bedroom, with a maid moving around but no sign of Victor.
Her phone had already been taken away by Victor, probably to prevent her from notifying Vincent.
"Where’s Victor Grant? Where is he?" Concerned for Adam’s safety, May hastily tried to get up from the bed, but as soon as she did, her head began to buzz, and she was too weak to stand.
"Madam, please don’t move; the young master instructed you to rest well at home and not go anywhere!" Seeing May struggling, the maid quickly came over to help her lie back down.
May sighed in despair, realizing Victor had placed her under house arrest. With her current strength, escaping seemed impossible.
But Adam was in grave danger with Victor, who held no qualms about using harsh methods. What if Adam died from his injuries?
"Give me the phone; I need to call Victor Grant."
Knowing she couldn’t escape, May, with no other choice, asked the maid for a phone.
The maid looked at May cautiously, unsure: "Madam, I have to get the young master’s permission first."
"Do as you like, but tell him if he doesn’t take my call, I’ll jump from the balcony. I mean it."
"Okay, okay, I’ll call the young master now. Please don’t be upset!" Seeing May’s determined face, the maid was frightened and quickly went to call Victor Grant.
A minute later, she entered, handing her phone to May, "Madam, the young master wants to speak to you."
May quickly took the phone and yelled into it, "Victor Grant, I’m warning you for the last time, do not administer vigilante justice on Adam!"
From the phone came only chilling laughter from Victor, sending shivers down May’s spine, "Too late!"
