Chapter 1669: Chapter 1666: Arrogant and Overbearing

The members from the Karate Club weren’t very tall, but each of them had a fierce expression. In contrast, the members of the Martial Arts Club, though visibly angry, lacked a certain presence. This might be due to the difference in their fighting capabilities, a lack of confidence.

The speaker was the shortest among the dozen or so from the Karate Club, but his expression was the fiercest, and his gaze, sweeping across, held unabashed contempt. The others subtly followed his lead.

"Open your eyes and see clearly; Sister Lan is with our Martial Arts Club," shouted Xiao Yu.

The short guy glanced at Mu Binglan but focused on Xiao Manxuan with gleaming eyes, brazenly staring. Lin Tian frowned and stepped in front of Xiao Manxuan, blocking his line of sight.

Suddenly blocked, the short guy was taken aback but then squinted, a cold light flashing in his eyes as he looked at Lin Tian with a hint of threat. However, Lin Tian acted as if nothing happened, treating his threat as air.

"Who are you? Bringing so many people to disrupt our recruitment work, what are your intentions?" Mu Binglan glared at the short guy and questioned loudly, first accusing him of disrupting the work.

Mu Binglan was a tough woman but not reckless, nor was she someone with only brute strength and no brains. Disrupting a club’s recruitment work was no small accusation.

The short guy seemed to have expected this, unhurriedly saying, "I am Kunno Saburo, not here to disrupt your recruitment work. On the contrary, we’re here to help with it."

Kunno Saburo? Lin Tian felt a stir inside, recalling rumors he’d heard on the way, that there really was a Japanese student in the Karate Club.

"He’s Japanese," Xiao Manxuan whispered to Lin Tian with a frown.

"Let’s see what they’re up to first," Lin Tian replied quietly without turning back.

Mu Binglan sneered, mocking, "Your words are better than songs. With your setup, does it look like helping?"

"Of course, and very sincerely so," Kunno Saburo replied with a smirk.

Mu Binglan frowned and looked at her members, "What’s going on?"

"Sister Lan, don’t listen to his nonsense. They want us to spar here as a performance, saying it’s to attract people," a member glared at the opposite side, his face filled with indignation.

Spar as a performance to attract people? Lin Tian sneered internally, truly a pretentious excuse.

On the surface, it was sparring as a performance, but in reality, it was about defeating members of the Martial Arts Club in front of everyone, bringing shame to the club.

"What, is the grand Martial Arts Club afraid of a little sparring performance?" Kunno Saburo pretended to be extremely surprised, though his eyes hid a sneer. He spoke loudly, so everyone present could hear.

The crowd, unaware of the truth, began whispering to each other, some displeased with the aggressive Karate Club, others disappointed that the Martial Arts Club wouldn’t take up the challenge.

However, the Karate Club was determined to humiliate the Martial Arts Club, ignoring the surrounding whispers, while the Martial Arts Club members were visibly upset, their faces very unpleasant. Yet, they dared not respond to the challenge; their training in routines and forms was no match for the opponent.

"Alright, how do you want to spar?" Mu Binglan suddenly spoke up, calmly accepting Kunno Saburo’s challenge.

This caught Kunno Saburo by surprise for a moment, but he quickly recovered, smiling lightly, "Each of our clubs will send two members to the front ground for a sparring session. We’ll use karate, and you use traditional martial arts. Until one side is knocked down, regardless of the outcome, it will add to the festive atmosphere for our recruitment event."

The last sentence was particularly pretentious, disguising the real intent of causing a scene with a veneer of respectability.

"You said ’sparring performance’ earlier. Now you speak of ’knockdowns’. How can this be considered a friendly spar?" Xiao Yu was furious, thinking that it wouldn’t just be about losing; being knocked down in front of so many students would be utterly humiliating.

Kunno Saburo glanced at Xiao Yu, sneering, "Neither of us are martial arts masters, so how can we possibly stop at points? Besides, since we’re all martial artists here, isn’t it expected to withstand some blows? If not, better pack up and go home. Why bother recruiting?"

"You..." Xiao Yu’s face turned red with anger, unable to retort.

Mu Binglan shielded Xiao Yu behind her, coldly stating, "Stop wasting time. Choose your people quickly, let’s get this over with swiftly, and not waste everyone’s time."

"Fine, straightforward enough. It’ll be me and Jin Luxian. Please enlighten us." Kunno Saburo’s eyes flashed a victorious gleam, though he maintained a proper facade.

"Jin Luxian, please enlighten us." The man introduced as Jin Luxian stepped forward. His hair was a small perm, his eyes narrow, giving off a sleazy vibe — perhaps the true natural appearance of Koreans, unlike the surgically enhanced looks of many stars.

"For the Martial Arts Club, it will be me, Mu Binglan, and..." Mu Binglan decisively named herself first, then turned to survey her members.

Those who had been indignant a moment ago now turned their heads down, avoiding Mu Binglan’s gaze, seemingly afraid of being picked, although many stood straight, ready to step up even knowing they would lose.

"Sister Lan, let me go." Xiao Yu stepped forward, volunteering.

Mu Binglan glanced around but internally sighed, feeling helpless. Although she wasn’t afraid to fight, there really wasn’t much fighting capability in others.

"I’ll go," Lin Tian stepped out calmly.

"But you’re not..." Xiao Yu began to say, "you’re not a member of the Martial Arts Club," but Lin Tian cut him off immediately.

"I am now, aren’t I?" Lin Tian quickly replied, looking towards Mu Binglan.

Mu Binglan was momentarily taken aback before saying, "For the Martial Arts Club, it’s me and Lin Tian."

"Lin Tian? Aren’t you the one who’s great at running? This is a martial arts spar, not a running contest, and definitely not a place to show off. Go back to running," Kunno Saburo glanced at Xiao Manxuan behind Lin Tian, his subtext clearly implying Lin Tian was showing off for the women.

"Hahaha..." The Karate Club members burst into laughter, looking at Lin Tian with schadenfreude and contempt.

"These people are too arrogant. I’ll have Little Zi teach them a lesson," Xiao Manxuan gritted her teeth, not being able to stand others mocking Lin Tian.

"This is a Martial Arts Club matter, Little Zi isn’t needed," Lin Tian smiled lightly, not turning back.

"Hey, kid, you haven’t even trained in martial arts forms, right? How will you spar with me later? Is running your strategy? Wear us out until we collapse? That’s not a bad method. In running, none of us combined can beat you," Jin Luxian shouted at Lin Tian, his words dripping with sarcasm and disdain.

A group of them laughed again, and someone even jeered, "Senior Brother Jin, he might just run away during the fight, we wouldn’t be able to catch him, haha..."
