Chapter 897: Chapter 894: Study Meeting

"Oh, if there’s something, just have Xiao Tian or Uncle Wei notify me. What matter requires Second Young Master Yun to come personally?" Lin Tian asked with some curiosity.

If he guessed correctly, Yun Haoyang’s standing in the Yun Family was second only to Old Master Yun, Yun Haoyang’s elder brother, the old man who had been injured for his eldest grandson.

With Yun Haoyang’s status as the second most important person, what could matter enough to require his personal notification? This completely piqued Lin Tian’s interest.

However, Yun Haoyang didn’t smile and said seriously, "This matter is of great importance, and I feel uneasy letting others notify you. I must come personally. This was ordered by my elder brother himself."

Ordered by his elder brother himself? Wouldn’t that be the number one person in the Yun Family, Old Master Yun? Lin Tian was slightly surprised, already vaguely guessing what it was about, but he needed to verify it personally.

"Second Young Master Yun, has the old master returned?" Lin Tian asked.

Yun Haoyang waved his hand and said, "Brother Lin, come with me and you’ll understand."

He then turned to lead the way in front, and although Lin Tian was puzzled, he still patiently followed. An Xiaoru also carefully followed behind. Now that the Yun Family’s Second Young Master was there, the young girl was somewhat apprehensive. After all, a person’s name and shadow are significant, and Second Young Master Yun’s stern image was deeply rooted in the heart of every young person in the Yun Family.

Following Second Young Master Yun through the corridors, they suddenly stopped in front of a building. Lin Tian raised his head and saw a plaque hanging above, inscribed with "Family Punishment Hall" in large characters.

"These brats, why are they carrying out family punishment so quietly?" Second Young Master Yun frowned, then turned to Lin Tian and said, "Brother Lin, please wait a moment, I’ll go in and see what’s going on?"

With that, Yun Haoyang pushed open the door and went in. Not long after, the sound of an old man cursing came from inside, followed by waves of screams. Lin Tian recognized that, although the screams were somewhat distorted, they were undoubtedly Mo Mingda’s.

"Damn, what kind of punishment causes Brother Mo to scream like that?" Lin Tian looked at An Xiaoru, curiously asking.

"Mr. Lin, the family punishment being administered to Mo Mingda is ten lashes on his buttocks," An Xiaoru replied.

"Ten lashes on the buttocks? Damn, have I traveled back to ancient times?" Lin Tian was incredulous. What era is this, and there’s still this kind of punishment?

"The Yun Family’s family rules are indeed like this, I’m not sure either." An Xiaoru shook her head and said.

Although unsure why the Yun Family still retains such antiquated family rules, it suited Lin Tian’s interest perfectly. After taking those lashes, that kid’s buttocks would surely split open.

Don’t be fooled by those historical dramas where the heroine gets dozens of lashes; in reality, that’s impossible. Getting lashes is actually a severe punishment. A man taking fifty lashes would almost be done for, let alone a woman.

Especially in those palace dramas, the heroine being lashed by villains is almost a mandatory plot. They come up with hundreds of strikes, which is all nonsense. After a hundred lashes, anyone’s bones would shatter and flesh be mangled, turning into meat paste, with no chance of survival.

However, the Yun Family’s family punishment wouldn’t be that cruel. The so-called lashes were unlikely to be heavy canes, at most lighter slats. Even so, ten lashes would still be a painful ordeal for Mo Mingda.

While Lin Tian was contemplating, Yun Haoyang came out cursing again, clearly annoyed at Mo Mingda’s pretensions.

"These little rascals, one day without a beating, and they’ll tear the house down. Brother Lin, sorry for the sight." Yun Haoyang apologized.

Lin Tian listened with a black line across his face. Is this old man prone to abusive tendencies? I wonder if Yun Xiaotian has ever received lashes. Seeing how fair and delicate he is, he probably couldn’t even handle five.

"Brother, this way." Yun Haoyang, after his outburst, continued walking toward the depths of the Yun Family residence.

Lin Tian observed their path along the way, fearing they were getting closer to the mountain top. But at a door, Yun Haoyang turned left instead of heading to the top; they entered another larger garden.

Perhaps sensing Lin Tian’s confusion, Yun Haoyang explained, "Brother, the top is my elder brother’s residence, and it’s usually not allowed to go up there."

"I see, then who lives in this garden?" Lin Tian curiously asked, but Yun Haoyang just smiled and didn’t answer.

This garden also had a wooden plaque inscribed with "Yuntian Residence." However, this garden was much larger than the visitor’s garden, with more flourishing flowers, plants, and trees. In the center of the garden stood a Chinese-style villa.

Could it be the place where the Yun Family master lives? If it isn’t Old Master Yun, then who could it be? A question mark appeared in Lin Tian’s mind.

"Brother Lin, I’ve brought you here. The person you’re meeting is in the study on the second floor. You can go up by yourself." Yun Haoyang indicated the second floor of the villa.

Then he told An Xiaoru, "Xiao Ru, stay here and don’t let anyone disturb Brother Lin, okay?"

"Okay, I understand." An Xiaoru nodded and said.

After arranging everything, Yun Haoyang nodded to Lin Tian and then turned to leave.

What exactly is the Yun Family up to? Lin Tian pondered but couldn’t figure out who was upstairs, so he had no choice but to head up.

The study was easy to find; it was the second door after the stairs. Lin Tian stopped at the entrance and found that the door was open. From the doorway, he could see the antique bookshelves full of various books inside.

Since the door was not closed and had been previously arranged, Lin Tian walked in directly.

The study had a light scent of sandalwood, presumably emanating from the wooden bookshelves, creating a sense of tranquility and serenity. The sandalwood had a calming effect, proving to be true, and this was pure sandalwood, not the artificial fragrance.

The study featured a large floor-to-ceiling window draped with plain white gauze that fluttered gently with the cool breeze. And by the window stood a...?

Woman? There was a woman standing by the window, and because she was wearing a plain dress, Lin Tian almost overlooked her. But once noticed, she became the focal point of the vision.

Although the woman wore a simple dress, her silhouette was graceful and elegant, with her long hair coiled up, revealing a slender white neck. From a mere back view, she was undoubtedly a beautiful woman, but her age was indiscernible.

"You finally arrived," the woman suddenly said, then turned to look at Lin Tian.

The woman’s voice was calm, yet carried an indescribable sense of anticipation.

Lin Tian finally saw the woman’s face. She was a beautiful lady younger than Mrs. Xiao, with no adornment on her body. Wearing a plain dress, she exuded a simple elegance, with her black hair casually tied up with a purple ribbon, a few strands naturally draping down, sweeping past her ears.

The rosy ear lobes with barely visible pierced holes bore no jewelry, and a few strands of hair fluttered with the cool breeze, inadvertently brushing against her red lips. She gently smoothed her lips, tucking the playful strands behind her ear.

Four words emerged in Lin Tian’s mind to describe the woman before him: serene and natural.
