A Former Police Officer Who Died And Get A Second Life!-Chapter 134: A New Adventurer
Seeing Leander’s anxious expression, Qiong Xing slowly raised both of his hands toward him.
Leander seemed to understand what he meant and immediately pulled him into a tight hug.
"I’m sorry for making you worry. Having you here makes me feel very reassured," Qiong Xing said softly.
Beastmen rarely got sick, so they did not keep medicine in the house.
Because of that, Leander had been feeling depressed since he could not really do anything to help.
"When I feel better, maybe I’ll cook one of your favorite meat dishes, Leander. Cari was worried too, so I might make something sweet for him as well," Qiong Xing suggested.
"Yeah. I’ll look forward to it. So get better soon," Leander replied.
Wrapped in Leander’s arms, Qiong Xing felt comforted by Leander’s warm body temperature.
As the sleepiness returned again, he gently closed his eyes.
"Good night, Qiong Xing. My precious mate," Leander whispered.
As Qiong Xing quietly breathed in his sleep, Leander gently pressed a kiss to his forehead as if offering a prayer.
In the end, Qiong Xing remained bedridden for several days after that.
Although he still felt a little sluggish, he was finally able to move around like usual again.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. So, what will we be doing today?" Qiong Xing asked.
On the day they had promised to take on a request, Qiong Xing appeared at the guild.
Just like usual, the young boy who had been waiting for him sat in a corner, looking around nervously and restlessly.
The adventurers who did not know the situation looked at the boy suspiciously, while the staff members who knew the reason watched with complicated expressions.
As a client, the boy was very welcome.
However, because the request involved Qiong Xing who was loved by many people there, they worried whether the boy might treat him poorly.
"Um... excuse me, but that child is..." the boy asked hesitantly.
"Hm? Oh, I guess this is the first time I’ve properly introduced him. You may have seen him a few times before. This is my child, his name is Caribert. He’ll be coming with us today, so please take care of him," Qiong Xing explained.
"Your child? Huh? But... the collar..." the boy said in confusion.
"Of course he isn’t my biological child. He used to be a slave, so the collar is there to prevent him from being taken away. But now he is my precious family, so please treat him as such," Qiong Xing said calmly.
It seemed that the boy had changed his attitude.
However, since there was still a chance that he might return to his old behavior and insult Cari and the others again, Qiong Xing decided that giving a warning beforehand would be best.
"...I understand. Please take care of me," Brat said.
For some reason, Brat stared directly at Cari.
Cari who had been clinging to Qiong Xing as if protecting him, became frightened and quickly hid behind him.
"What do you want with my little brother?" Albe asked.
At that moment, Albe stepped forward protectively.
"Little bother? Does that mean you two are siblings?" Brat asked.
"So what if we are?" Albe replied.
Albe’s mood was clearly getting worse and worse.
Seeing that the situation might become bad if it continued like this, Qiong Xing quickly tried to calm him down.
After that, he suggested they decide what to do today.
"If you don’t have anything in particular you want to do, would it be okay if we did something I want to do?" Qiong Xing asked.
Brat stayed silent no matter how long they waited, so Qiong Xing asked again if it would be fine for them to follow his plan.
He nodded and gave his agreement.
"Then please register as an adventurer. I want to accept a request to gather medicinal herbs," Qiong Xing said.
"Huh?" Brat reacted in surprise.
Since Brat said he did not mind what they did, Qiong Xing thought it would be good to accept a request for the sake of Cari and the others’ future.
They were not short on money, but experience was still important and if they could earn money while gaining experience, then there was no harm in doing it. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
So if Brat wanted to follow them around, Qiong Xing decided it would be a good opportunity to let him experience a bit of the real world as well.
"Um, but..." Brat hesitated.
"Don’t drag your feet," Qiong Xing said as he pulled Brat along and went to the reception desk.
He asked the male staff member to register Brat.
"I’m sorry, but we cannot allow a prince to do something like that..." the man said.
"There is no problem. Right now, this child is just an ordinary person named Brat. Please register him," Qiong Xing replied calmly.
"...Adventurers act at their own risk. If you get injured or anything happens during a request, we cannot take responsibility. Is that acceptable?" the staff member asked.
Seeing that Qiong Xing had no intention of backing down, the staff member finally gave in.
However, he agreed only on the condition that Brat would be treated purely as an ordinary citizen.
He also said he would report the matter to the guild master later.
Qiong Xing thanked him and once the registration was quickly finished, they accepted the request as usual and headed toward the forest.
"So I’m an adventurer now..." Brat muttered.
"This is a good opportunity. You should try it as well. Instead of staying in the castle and wasting your time, it is a good experience to do a job that can help someone, even if it only satisfies yourself," Qiong Xing said.
Brat still looked confused, but Qiong Xing simply handed him a basket.
After that, Qiong Xing and the others began gathering medicinal herbs like they always did.
Cari was still a little cautious and stayed close beside Qiong Xing.
However, whenever he found a herb, he happily picked it and added it to the basket.
