A Former Police Officer Who Died And Get A Second Life!-Chapter 135: A Meal in the Forest
"Albe, do you know how to make healing potions?" Qiong Xing asked.
"I don’t know. I think you need a special ability or something to make those," Albe replied.
"Is that so? Then maybe I can’t make them either," Qiong Xing said.
He had thought it would be nice to try making them himself if he ever had the chance.
But if only certain people were able to make them, then he would probably have to give up.
"Brat, do you know... Oh? You can actually tell the difference between the herbs," Qiong Xing said in surprise.
"I saw them in a book I read a long time ago. It explained them so I could recognize poison if someone ever tried to poison me," Brat replied.
Being a prince, it was probably common for people to target his life.
Qiong Xing briefly wondered if Brat should really be doing something like this here.
But since it was Brat’s own choice, Qiong Xing simply decided not to worry about it.
"I see. In that case, thanks to that knowledge, you can protect yourself and also use it to protect someone else," Qiong Xing said.
"Huh? ...Ah, I see," Brat replied.
Not everything he had learned until now had to be only for his own sake.
If he learned about the dangers of poison and how to deal with it, then he could use that knowledge to protect himself. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
At the same time, if someone else asked for help, he would also be able to lend them a hand.
Once Brat understood that, Qiong Xing felt that things would be fine.
He moved his hands again and continued gathering herbs.
Soon, everyone quietly focused on their work.
"I think this should be enough. Now we just need to wait for Albe to come back..."
"I’m back!"
As if the timing was perfect, Albe returned.
In his hands were several rabbits hanging down.
"Welcome back. That must have been hard work. Thank you," Qiong Xing said.
Since they had come to the forest today, they had decided to eat outside instead of going back to town.
Albe had said he was good at hunting, so they left the meat to him.
Meanwhile, Qiong Xing and the others gathered simple things like fruit and nuts.
"This much is easy! Just wait a bit. I’ll cut them up right away," Albe said.
Unlike fish, Qiong Xing had never prepared an animal before, so he honestly left that task to Albe and started preparing a fire for cooking.
He had only recently learned magic and he felt happy while using it to start the fire.
After finishing the preparation, Albe brought over the rabbit meat that he had already cut into bite-sized pieces.
Qiong Xing placed them on skewers, added salt and pepper and began to roast them over the fire.
For the small pot they had brought, he asked Cari to produce some water.
Once the water began to boil, he added the mushrooms he had brought and some pieces of meat. Then he seasoned it with salt and made a simple soup.
"Next is the bread and we’ll have Cari provide drinking water... alright, it’s done. Let’s all eat together," Qiong Xing said.
It felt like a small camping trip.
Qiong Xing had no problem with that, but he wondered how Brat who is a prince would feel about such a simple meal.
When Qiong Xing looked beside him, he saw Brat staring with a surprised
expression. Then he quickly grabbed one of the roasted pieces of meat and started eating it while blowing on it because it was hot.
Since Brat seemed to be enjoying it, Qiong Xing decided there was no problem.
Even though he did not have much of an appetite, Qiong Xing still tried his best and managed to finish his portion of the meal.
After finishing their meal and cleaning up, Qiong Xing took the medicinal herbs they had gathered and returned to the guild.
"We are relieved to see that you all returned safely. Here is your reward. Also, I’m sorry, but the Guild Master said they would like to speak with you. Would that be alright?"
As expected, Qiong Xing knew that he had forced things a little today.
He nodded without hesitation.
First, he greeted Brat and handed him one third of the reward.
"This is the reward for your hard work today. It may not be much, but this is money you earned by working yourself. It did not come from your parents and it did not come from the kingdom. This is truly the payment for the work you did today, so please use it carefully."
"Ah... yes... thank you very much."
For a prince like him, the amount was so small that it would not even count as pocket money.
But this was the first time he had earned money with his own effort, so Qiong Xing hoped that even a little of it would make him happy.
After saying goodbye to the stunned Brat, Qiong Xing and the others were guided to a room that was probably the Guild Master’s office.
There, they reunited with people they had not seen for some time.
"It has been a while. I’m sorry for suddenly asking for your help today."
"That’s true. If it wasn’t your request, we wouldn’t have listened at all."
"If it’s your request, I’ll listen to anything."
Qiong Xing had expected to be scolded, but surprisingly it seemed that they had already forgiven him.
"Well, when we first heard about it, we were very surprised. It was already shocking that that prince became so attached to you and on top of that, you even tried to make him an adventurer."
"That’s right. What kind of magic did you use on him?"
It seemed that they were also surprised, since they knew what the prince’s personality used to be like.
"I didn’t do anything special. I just scolded him a little."
After all, Leander and the others were his precious family.
And the prince had insulted them.
