Chapter 226: THE EXECUTION

After the rebel attack, their journey to Wolfdale palace went rather smoothly, they didn’t encounter any resistance anymore and they arrived on time.

King Amidas and his son, the crown prince Eyron, who would be the next person, who would sit on the throne, greeted them at their gates, along with the queen and their children. Princess Alana was there and her other two brothers, who were younger than her.

"Welcome to Wolfdale kingdom, the king of lycan," king Amidas said with opened arms.

Needless to say, Zuri could see where Rose got her sweet words from. The king of Wolfdale kingdom knew how to flatter people that he wanted, whom he thought could give him advantage.

Khaos nodded and they exchanged a few pleasantries.

The ceremony would be held within two days, which meant, they had two days of free time to see the kingdom.

However, Khaos didn’t want to do sightseeing, he wanted to see justice was being delivered, which meant, the two days leading up to the crowning ceremony, would be an execution day.

"I don’t want my ceremony tainted with blood," crown prince Eyron complained, he looked unhappy with the decision, but even more because there were a few people, who were close to him, who were on the list to be executed.

Eyron had been trying to smuggle them out of the kingdom, but it was king Amidas, who stopped him, because in the long run, it was not worth it.

This was his first lesson as the king. He always needed to think a few steps ahead and did not let his emotions got involved in the decision he would make.

"No, the execution will be a deterrent for your reign as the new king, since you delivered justice for the old dynasty." Zuri looked relax, as she observed the room full of people. The queen was not there and she was the only woman in this room, in which they stared at her weirdly.

They looked like they wanted to say something to Khaos, but because it was the lycan himself, who had allowed her to be there, they had nothing else to say.

Eyren looked impatient. His jaw tightened and when he was like that, he looked like his mother. Yes, he took after his mother a lot, which made him looked pleasant to the eyes, especially with his curly brown hair and dark eyes.

This crown prince was so different from his calculative father. This future king was only two years older than deceased queen Rimera, but he looked very impulsive, which was not a good quality for a king.

Zuri glanced at Khaos, this was why Khaos wanted him to be the king for Wolfdale kingdom. People liked Eyren seemed difficult, but it was very easy to guess what could move him. More so, he was so easy to be manipulated, since this type of people loved to ’prove their worth’.

"It will set an example for all the traitors that you take your role seriously. Just like any other kingdom, traitors always lurk in the dark. You will want to make them understand that messing with this new regime will be a death sentence for them. They will think twice to try anything funny and it will save you a lot of time and headache."

From his eyes, Zuri could tell that he didn’t like to be told what to do by a woman, but when Khaos said, basically, the same thing, he listened.

Zuri really wanted to roll her eyes hard. Eyren didn’t realize it yet, but she held status higher than him because of Khaos, since woman’s status was based on their men’s status. Needless to say, Eyren’s reign wouldn’t be easy...

The meeting ended and the execution would be held the next day. There was no time to rest for them.

"You don’t need to come for tomorrow if you don’t feel comfortable." Khaos put his arm on her shoulder, as they walked in the hallway, playing with her hair.

"And miss the fun when the heads roll on the floor? No, thanks. I want to watch everything."

And Zuri meant it. There was this cathartic feeling whenever she watched life came to end. It was the feeling that was hard to describe. She could see how vulnerable and fragile life was. No matter how strong you were, you were always be the weaker side against the death.

If she could, she wanted to be the executor. She felt therapeutic whenever she took someone else’s lives.

’Crazy.’

The voices chuckled in her head, but this time, she welcomed it. It didn’t bother her like it used to be. She didn’t know when it started, but there was this darkness that creeping inside of her, but instead of being scared, she welcomed this feeling.

And the next day, Zuri sat at the front row with Khaos, watching twenty people were being executed, while the rest would be continued for the next day.

Eyron left his seat on the tenth person, he couldn’t stomach the gruesome scene and the smell of blood that got thicker in the air.

"Do you enjoy it?" Khaos asked, after he saw the look on Zuri’s face.

"Ah, no." Zuri controlled her facial expression and leaned back against the chair. She tried not to be so obvious, but Khaos could see through her.

The lycan had this unreadable look on his face.

And the next day was the crowning ceremony for crown prince Eyren, the security around the palace was very tight, knowing the rebels were against it, since they didn’t want the new king to fall into the lycan’s reign.

At the morning of the ceremony when Zuri just finished with her dress and make up, a maid told her there was someone that wanted to see her.

"Who is it?"

"It’s Sir Lorent."

Sir Lorent was the king’s brother, someone that king Amidas was willing to give up his throne to save his life.
