A Reaper's Philosophy-Chapter 63: The Bartender
Ravana then returned back to her post, standing guard next to the robed man.
"Why did you let those assholes into the city so easily?" The black armored man asked.
"That woman, tailed Lilith he called her...although I’m a host in the Mythical Realm, I couldn’t sense her approach when that guy called on her.
In fact, I couldn’t sense her at all. If she wasn’t standing right in front of me, I wouldn’t have known she was there. They came from the mountains as well, that place is filled with beasts.
With that kind of level of skill, her background can’t be simple. Her foundation is very solid, who knows how many beasts she has killed to achieve this." Ravana began to say.
"What realm was she on?" The armored man asked.
"Only Ascended Realm." Ravana answered.
"Impossible! How can an Ascended Realm Host traverse through those mountains. What kind of balls did you use?" The armored man asked.
"The thick blue balls. Those are never wrong." Ravana said confidently.
"The guy, what about the guy? If he is a Mythical Realm Host then traversing the mountains might be possible." The armored man asked anxiously.
"He was... well, he really is just an Ordinary Realm Host, but his speed is abnormal. He wore strange clothes...he must be from a faraway city.
To have survived crossing those mountains, he must truly be exceptional. You know, I don’t get to see so many guys taller than me. Unless they are monsters or giants.
Did you notice his scent. It was liked a neborn baby’s..." Ravana began to say out loud.
"You’re smiling... I’ve never seen you smile before. I’m glad to see one good thing come from this." The armored man said out loud.
"Forget you saw anything!" Ravana said threateningly.
"I noticed you’re no longer covering your eye. That’s some exceptional man." The armored man nodded approvingly.
"That’s not what I meant...how many people do you know that can hear the name Madsus City or Hardon Sect and laugh at it in front of its very gates? That guy didn’t strike me as the clueless type, I think we are better off not offending them." Ravana said in a serious tone.
"You’re right. Although...just who did we let into our Madsus City?" The armored man said worringly.
...
"What do you mean you want separate rooms? I’m not letting you go off on your own!" I said to the tailed Lilith as we walked in the streets looking for a place to stay.
"I mean, I have needs now. So I want my own room!" She shouted at me.
"What do you mean needs? Are you embarrassed now? The first time I saw you, you were naked. I’ve seen you more times naked than clothed. What’s up with you today?" I said to her calmly.
"FUUUUCK! I can’t deal with this! My stomach is threatening to rip out through my vagina. My back bloody hurts. I feel like somebody is stabbing the bottom of my stomach, and it feels like they’re ENJOYING IT! I’m feeling very insecure about my body, and everything just SUCKS!" The tailed Lilith began to shout as her voice began to crack.
"Okay okay, it’s fine. You can have your own room." I said, not expecting a reaction like that from her.
"Hey, I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation. You’re looking for a room yes? I have the perfect place for the two of you, just down the street." A man holding fliers said walking up to us.
He then gave us each a flier then walked away.
"How convenient..." I said sarcastically.
The flier had many fireworks and hearts on it. I was curious to see if maybe the place had an event going on. I then followed the map on the flier till we arrived at our destination.
"This isn’t the type of room I had in mind." I said out loud as I looked at holographic images of a cat woman playing with an eggplant above the building.
"Lots of new people get mixed up and end up here. If you’re looking for the best rooms, you should go to The Bartender’s. It’s two streets back. Come, I’ll take you." A little girl standing at the side said to us.
She then grabbed the tailed Lilith’s hand and started pulling her away.
’Is it a normal thing here for people to eavesdrop on conversations and just join them, or are we just that loud?’ I thought to myself.
"Tailed-..." I called out, but then got cut off by her.
"Let’s just go with her. We’re out of options anyways." The tailed Lilith said to me.
(Sigh)
’Where did that girl even come from?’ I thought to myself.
As we walked back, the pressure around seemed to be getting stronger.
We finally arrived in front of a tall building. The interior of the building was extremely luxurious and the entire ground floor was designated for just one massive bar.
"Yo, The Bartender." The little girl called for the bartender who was behind an unusually long curvaceous counter.
Immediately after walking in, I noticed the pressure coming from this bartender. It was overbearing!
’Even Dunamis-...’ I began to think.
"Shelly! I see, hehe, let’s talk..." The bartender said then went to the side with the little girl.
From afar, all I saw was them exchanging a few words, giving each other a firm handshake, then nod at each other with satisfied smiles. The bartender then walked up to us after and stretched out his hand for a greeting.
"Hello, I’m The Bartender, owner of The Bartender’s. Shelly here says that you’re looking for a room. I assume it’s one room for two?" The Bartender said with his arm still stretched out.
"Yeah, it would be normal for one to assume that." I said looking at the tailed Lilith.
I then stretched my hand out for a handshake. I suddenly found myself alarmingly jumping back 10 meters. I looked at my hands and they couldn’t stop shaking.
’Who the hell is this guy? I feel no aura from him; barely any power whatsoever. It’s just that pressure, yet, my body won’t stop trembling. The pressure isn’t a power. It’s his actual body. It’s coming from his flesh and bones!’ I thought to myself.
"Wow, nice instincts you got there. I assure you, I don’t want to cause any problems. Just a bartender running an honest business." He said to me.
’I was right to come to this planet. Just when I thought I was approaching the pinnacle of strength, I continue to meet people like this.’ I thought to myself.
I then gripped my fist, walked back, and shook his hand.
"We will be taking 2 rooms." I said to him with a smile.
"Great, that will be 20 pieces of electrum a night, but we also accept monster cores. Our services differ depending on the realm of the monster core. Follow me, I will show you the rooms." The Bartender said to us.
We approached a platform, which then floated us to the second floor. There, we were shown two luxurious rooms next to each other.
’These rooms are better than the hotel we stayed on back on earth. Exactly how much is 20 pieces of electrum supposed to be and what’s a monster core?’ I asked the tailed Lilith telepathically.
’I don’t know, but I won’t settle for anything less, now that I’ve seen this!’ The tailed Lilith replied.
"We will take it." The tailed Lilith quickly said. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
The Bartender gave a mischievous smile, then quickly wore a professional expression.
"Great, so will you be paying upfront or in installments?" The Bartender asked with a smile.
"Installments please..." The tailed Lilith answered.
"What are you doing?" I asked her.
"We’re strong. We will earn the money somehow, right now, I just need a bath." The tailed Lilith said.
"Well, the best place for hosts to earn electrum would be at a sect, so try your luck there. However, if you’re strong enough, going solo would pay more, but is not recommendable.
Nonetheless, if you have no electrum, I’m afraid I can’t just let you stay here without, at least, proof of a source of income...
but since Shelly is the one who brought you here, I’ll do you guys a favor.
Hosts can earn a lot of electrum and also gain monster cores doing missions in sects. I’ll give you one month here, rent free, but you’ll have to pay me back by the end of the month and pay an advance for the next 6 months. Great deal no?" The Bartender said with a suspiciously gentle smile.
’Why do I feel like this was his plan all along. We’re probably not even staying that long? No one in their right mind would accept a deal like thi-...’ I began to think till...
"Deal!" The tailed Lilith said then shook The Bartender’s hand.
"Don’t worry, if you can’t pay, I’m sure we can come up with another deal." The Bartender said then left us with jade like rings that could access the doors.
’Honest business my ass. He totally ripped us off.’ I thought to myself.
"You’re an idiot." I said to the tailed Lilith.
"An idiot that’s about to have a good ass bath." The tailed Lilith saids then went into her room.
