After Rebirth, I Replaced My Ex-Husband's True Love-Chapter 135: Stop Pretending in Front of Me
My throat suddenly gurgled, and something surged up from my stomach. I held it in with all my might.
Henry Preston saw me not moving and spoke again, "Come over and eat, aren’t you hungry yet?"
I said nothing and quickly went to the restroom.
I tried to suppress the sound and used the running water to cover the sound of vomiting. This feeling was suffocating me.
When I came out of the restroom, Henry Preston was waiting for me at the door.
"Are you a pervert? You even follow me to the bathroom?" I was a bit flustered, so I deliberately yelled at him.
Henry Preston’s face turned black, and he replied coldly, "Go eat, I’m leaving."
I couldn’t wait for him to leave, so I said nothing. As soon as I saw his figure disappear, I immediately threw away the curry fish head.
The remaining dishes suited my taste, and I devoured them quickly.
Afterwards, I cleaned up the mess and went downstairs to throw out the trash.
"Loving little cookies, oh, won’t he be touched to death?" Suddenly, a voice came, and when I turned my head, Azure Vaughn and Joy Lawson were approaching arm in arm.
Azure was holding a beautiful box, which seemed to contain pastries.
Joy was praising Azure, and when they saw me, they stopped talking.
Azure looked quite surprised, seemingly not expecting to encounter me here, especially since Henry Preston also lives here now.
I gave them a blank look and entered the elevator.
Azure hesitated for a moment, then followed me inside.
Joy rolled her eyes at me, while Azure looked complicated. If I’m not mistaken, Henry Preston is in for trouble soon.
"Darn, why does she also live here?" Joy couldn’t hold back and started muttering.
Azure glanced at me, seemingly contemplating something.
When the elevator arrived, Azure’s expression was indescribable, looking like she had been struck by lightning, staring blankly and dazedly as I opened, entered, and closed the door.
Joy angrily exclaimed, "Damn, why does she live across from Brother Julian?!"
Once I closed the door, I couldn’t hear her anymore.
I didn’t really care if Azure and Henry Preston would have a fight next.
What I didn’t expect was that shortly after, Azure actually sent me a message: Miss Hathaway, can we talk?
I didn’t reply to her and directly blocked her.
Ten minutes later, the doorbell rang. I looked through the peephole, and it was indeed Azure. I really didn’t understand how she had the face to come looking for me.
Where’s Henry Preston? Did he leave after bringing me food?
I opened the door, and Azure looked at me with a complex expression, "Miss Hathaway, do you hate me that much now?"
"Come in, shut the door." I returned to the living room and sat down, giving a cold command.
Azure silently closed the door and sat across from me.
After a few minutes of silence, Azure couldn’t hold it in anymore and spoke again, "Miss Hathaway, could you stay away from Henry Preston from now on?"
I raised an eyebrow, "Why?"
"You and he are divorced, aren’t you? I’m the one by his side now. I can feel that he seems to have some feelings for you that he shouldn’t have, and it’s not fair to me." Azure finished speaking, biting her lip tightly, looking very innocent.
I looked at her indifferently, "How is it unfair? When you were the other woman, I never said these things to you. Now that you’re ready to step up, you come to remind me instead. Don’t you find it disgusting?"
Azure’s face turned white, "Miss Hathaway, I wasn’t the other woman. I got together with Mr. Preston after you two divorced!"
"Henry Preston said you two weren’t even together." I retorted Azure bluntly, "Also, no need to pretend to be innocent in front of me. I already know it was you who contacted Henry Preston first. Azure, back then, you were sitting in the car with me, preparing to have dinner with Sutton, yet secretly messaging a married man behind my back. Do you have any shame?"
Azure was stunned by my words, disbelief filled her eyes. Soon, she asked anxiously, "Did Joel Sutton tell you?!"
I was also a little surprised; did she mean Joel Sutton knew about these things?
"What do you think?" I purposely answered ambiguously.
"He’s so despicable!" Azure was somewhat angry out of shame, "He had clearly promised me he wouldn’t tell anyone about this!"
I suddenly remembered that Joel Sutton had seen messages between Azure and Henry Preston. He probably knew about it then.
Joel Sutton had really been quite kind to Azure, never saying anything. Otherwise, her reputation would be even worse.
Of course, I wouldn’t betray Silas Lockwood, but I didn’t want Joel Sutton to be misunderstood either. So I said, "It wasn’t him. No one told me anything about this; it was just something I discovered on my own."
"Did you look at Mr. Preston’s phone?" Azure immediately questioned.
"Don’t worry about how I found out. The important thing is that I know quite a bit about what you did, so don’t try to act in front of me anymore. You should be grateful I was willing to divorce Henry Preston, and stay far away from me to avoid trouble." I curled my lips, "I still have some pretty interesting information. Henry Preston might dump you if he sees it."
Azure was clearly frightened by my words; she absolutely didn’t want to lose Henry Preston.
She probably never expected me to know so much. After a moment of silence, she got up to leave.
"When did you first know about Henry Preston and learn about my identity?" I asked.
Azure paused her steps, turning to look at me, her smile very unnatural, "Miss Hathaway, although I was the one who contacted Mr. Preston first, it was because I knew he’d asked someone for my contact information. I wanted to ask him why. Before that, I’d never met him nor knew your identity. I have things to do, goodbye."
She left in a hurry after speaking.
But I didn’t believe her words; I could find a way to investigate myself.
Then I removed Joel Sutton from the blacklist, intending to ask him what he knew.
Before asking, I checked his social media page. He hadn’t updated it in a long time, the most recent post was from the time we climbed Mount Valen together, with a few photos.
His cover photo had also changed; it was a picture of me holding a large orange cat, though my face wasn’t visible.
I felt guilty, as if I’d caused him harm, feeling embarrassed to ask, unblocking him only when I needed something.
Perhaps I should find another method, I sighed, preparing to put Joel Sutton back on the blacklist.
Joel Sutton: Miss Hathaway, you finally unblocked me from the blacklist?!
Me: ...
Joel Sutton: Why did you suddenly block me, did I do something wrong?
Me: No, Sutton, you didn’t do anything wrong. I accidentally blocked you, sorry.
Joel Sutton: Is it convenient for you to take a video call? I’d like to see you. Dr. Underwood said you went abroad. Are you overseas now?
