Chapter 967: Death

"Haa... Ha..." Jun was running into the woods while occasionally glancing back to see whether anyone pursued him.

He was quite exhausted after fighting Clovis and the mysterious archer. In addition, the beasts were overwhelming them, so he had a hard time fighting back.

"I have to survive. This is a failure, but they’re also retreating. It’s not my failure..." Jun ground his teeth.

He was frustrated that he failed to kill Clovis or even a single member of the Libation Fiesta.

The biggest difference would be the hidden items that Clovis had brought. Although he didn’t know what was going on, those items could allow Clovis to fight a Tier 8 human with a pseudo-unique ability.

"As long as I survive, there will be a chance for tomorrow. Just you wait, Clovis Hacfield." Jun grinned. "I still have the proof that you’re doing something illegal here, so I will make sure that you are disqualified."

He had abandoned his remaining teammates, but it didn’t mean he planned to lose just like this. As long as Clovis and Absalom were disqualified, he would still be the greatest victor.

However, an arrow suddenly flew toward him.

"!!!" Jun widened his eyes in shock. This arrow was similar to the arrow that the mysterious archer had released earlier.

Normally, his instinct could pick up an arrow or bullet coming before it was even released. Yet, for some reason, he just couldn’t sense this arrow.

Only when it was quite close to him did he pick up its presence. Jun turned his body around to stop the arrow, but the arrow slid on the wind produced by his blade and hit his arm.

Bam!

The arrow severed his arm and hit the ground.

"Aaargghh!" Jun screamed in pain while glaring at whoever sent that arrow.

His jaw soon dropped when he saw the silhouette of the mysterious archer.

"What?" Jun gasped. "You... Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be helping Raven? Aren’t you supposed to challenge Clovis? Why are you helping him?!"

"I have always done the same thing from the beginning. I always side with the winner. You are the loser, so you can die." Angelia snorted as she released another arrow.

"Angelia!" Jun roared and leaped toward her.

Angelia jumped to the side, using the trunk to disappear again. Her presence blended in with the forest.

Jun halted his steps while looking around, wondering where she went. "You coward. Come out!"

"You are the coward. Not only did you run away and leave your teammates behind, but you were also the first one to ambush those people." Angelia’s voice echoed from the right.

’There you are. Idiot.’ Jun swung his blade to the right, using his ranged attack to cut any trees in that direction.

The trees started falling down and caused a lot of commotion, but he couldn’t find Angelia among those trees.

The next thing he realized, another arrow had almost reached him from the opposite direction.

"!!!" Jun spun his body as quickly as possible and struck the arrow with his momentum, but his body couldn’t produce enough power from the spin. Even with his pseudo unique ability, he ended up getting blown away to the piles of trees he cut down earlier.

"Gah!"

Jun spat out a mouthful of blood. "How are you this strong?"

Jun, Angelia, and Roonie. Raven might be different because he possessed a unique ability, but Jun had always thought that he was the strongest among the three of them.

Yet, he was actually at the mercy of Angelia. In the last attack, Angelia had even used her pseudo unique ability to blend her voice with the forest, which created an illusion that she was on that particular side.

Jun realized Angelia had never revealed her true power before.

No, people might have overgeneralized Angelia’s power the whole time.

Her arrow power was extremely high. He might be able to overpower it with his pseudo unique ability, but it would be a different matter when she didn’t give him the chance to utilize that pseudo unique ability to the fullest.

In addition, the way she fought was truly ruthless. She would disappear like a ghost and hit them where they least expected.

No, it was more accurate that she ’convinced’ them to do something and proceeded to do another thing.

That was why her attack would have a high success rate.

Angelia was never the weakest among the three. She might have been the strongest all this time.

"You..." Jun knew he would die fighting Angelia. He had to escape.

Jun tried to run away, but another arrow reached him again.

Jun managed to block it with his pseudo unique ability this time, but Angelia turned out to be moving closer and closer.

The time he took to block that attack was the time she closed the gap between them.

As someone with the Muscle Affinity, Angelia kicked the tree in front of him, sending the trunk toward Jun.

Jun was forced to slice it, only to find Angelia already pulling her bow.

"Khhh!" Jun swung his blade at the incoming arrow, but the trunk earlier created a gap in his defense, allowing the arrow to overpower him.

"NOOOO!" Jun screamed, but it was too late.

The arrow destroyed the right side of his torso, including a portion of his lung.

"Gah!" Jun spat a mouthful of blood as he fell on his butt. He was glaring at her. If not for her, he might not lose his chance or even die here. "You..."

Angelia snorted. "Well, that’s what you get from looking down on me. Oh well, I guess it’s fine to tell you. I am now a member of the Libation Fiesta. So, the one who kills you is the Libation Fiesta."

Angelia looked at him coldly. Jun became even more frustrated when he heard her joining Clovis’s group. But there was nothing he could do as his consciousness was fading rapidly.

Angelia waited for him to die for a while before checking his body, ensuring there was nothing that could be linked back to her. In addition, he mentioned the proof earlier, so she’d better destroy it.

It looked like the battle had caused a big commotion as she raised her head and found Clovis arriving.
