Chapter 38: Pill Making

"Professor, I know how to make the pill, may I try it with your permission?" Atlas asked politely right after Professor Rosaria’s words.

When Rosaria heard these words, she looked at Atlas with visible astonishment and said "Great!" and pushed Atlas to the cauldron and brought the ingredients of the pill to the table.

Atlas was about to start preparing the pill when Rosaria stopped him and said, "You need to tell the rest of the class, Atlas."

He scratched his head when he heard these words and then turned to the class and started talking immediately:

"Regeneration Pill is a potion that is easier to make than the liquid. It provides many effects. These effects are not only to heal your blood loss and open wounds, but also to alleviate the situation if your mana and aura are in a critical state."

"To create the pill, you need the ingredients [Dill, Autumn Grass, Daybird’s Tear] and some serious near-mastery of fire control. Anyone can be an alchemist, after all, fire is not meant to be used only by those with a predisposition to the elements."

"After a brief warm-up, we will send the ingredients into the cauldron in sequence with our spell. The order of the ingredients is the same as when I counted the ingredients for you. Dill, Autumn Grass and Daybird Tear."

"Dill will change the taste of the pill from awful to good and will improve the flow of energy in the body. The Autumn Grass will create the layer that makes the pill become a pill. And the Daybird Tear will provide the healing effect."

Atlas finished these words and then, relaxing himself as much as possible, he began to add the ingredients into the cauldron one by one.

With each passing second, the heat inside the cauldron became more stable, and the smoke from the cauldron began to escape through the huge windows in the tower room.

"The Regeneration Pill is a pill that can be produced in as little as five minutes, which is precisely why it is so difficult to produce. The short production time of the pill could easily indicate that it needs to be made by someone skilful, or at least someone who has done something about it before," Atlas said.

Immediately after that, he shook his head slightly and said, "This is one of the reasons why the pill is so expensive. It is quite troublesome because at least one drop of the Tear of the Daybird in the pill comes in at 15 gold. After all, failing to produce this pill once would probably wipe out a month’s worth of money for a person living alone, excluding rent and the like."

"Another reason, of course, is that you usually need someone experienced to make it. I am not a genius in alchemy, but I have certainly managed to produce dozens of pills and liquid potions before." Atlas suddenly said, and with that, the effect inside the cauldron began to change.

Even though the cauldron was closed, an incredibly good smell was coming from the smoking parts of the cauldron. The dill was indeed able to spread an excellent odour around.

The appearance of this odour indicated that the pill production was already close to completion.

"This is exactly the point to be considered when producing Regeneration Pill. When the scent of dill wafts out of the smoke, this indicates that the ingredients in the cauldron have fused, and this is enough to tell us that the Autumn Grass has already taken the form of a pill. When this happens, it will be enough to increase the temperature of the fire by 10 or 20 degrees if you have enough control." Atlas added and then did exactly what he said.

When he did these things, the flames in the boiler were extinguished and the smoke coming from the boiler was over. Atlas opened the cauldron with a glove without burning his hand and took the pill out of the cauldron immediately after waiting for the boiling heat to pass.

A pill, green in colour and without any flaws, was in Atlas’s hand. Atlas gently placed the pill on one of the tables next to the cauldron, right on a cloth, and then again gently said, "This is how the pill can be manufactured."

After Atlas had finished producing it, he stood calmly in place, and suddenly a voice came from his left:

"Excellent! It’s amazing that a first-year student can do all this."

Professor Rosaria’s words echoed slightly in the classroom, and each of the first-year students clapped lightly.

When Atlas took his seat, Rosaria erased the writing on the class blackboard and then turned to the class and began to speak:

"This is exactly how flame control is achieved. A perfect Regeneration Pill in every sense of the word, a masterclass in every sense of the word. However, you should understand why fire control and the control of the flames are formed. The most important thing in alchemy is not just knowing a lot of herbs, but how to process those herbs and how to feed the fire."

"That is something you must never forget, so let us continue our lesson."

With those words, Professor Rosaria gave the class permission to disperse after almost three hours of a long and, to put it bluntly, a bit stifling lecture.

Without waiting, Atlas left the classroom and started to descend down the tower. At that moment, he caught his eye on a window. He realised that he had indeed only been working and trying to get stronger since his return.

When he looked out of the window, he could see that it was already evening. The sun had already set and the moon had risen. The starry sky seemed to smile at him.

However, he thought that he should go to his room to enjoy the view and started to descend the stairs again.

At that moment, he stopped with a sound coming from behind him:
