Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 39: Old Friend
Chapter 39: Old Friend
At that moment, he stopped with a voice coming from behind him:
"Excuse me!"
This voice was a skinny but determined girl’s voice. Atlas, of course, instantly recognised the voice and turned around to see Irene standing on the stairs leading upwards.
Atlas looked at Irene carefully, hoping to speak to his dear friend after a long time, and said, "Yes?" while barely holding back a smile.
With his words, Irene finally made her way down to Atlas and then extended her hand and said, "Hello, Irene Luis, nice to meet you."
Atlas, on the other hand, did not refuse the girl’s offer, shook her hand directly and replied, "Nice to meet you, my name is Atlas."
However, Irene immediately sat down in the small section towards the window near Atlas and then said, "Here, please sit down."
Atlas, without waiting, sat down on the marble area and looked at Irene with curious eyes.
"This is going to sound very strange to you, but can I ask you what classes you are taking? I mean, what departments are you trying to study?" Irene suddenly asked.
Atlas shook his head and pouted his lips, "I’m studying melee and far combat, history of magic, mana control, alchemy, ancient spells, monster training, I made my choices that way."
Irene’s face smiled after these words and then said, "Such good news! All our classes are almost the same. I’m just not taking close combat lessons."
Then the young girl began to look embarrassed. After a small, embarrassed cough, she said, "Well... You see..." and stayed where she was.
At that moment, Atlas remembered something he had completely forgotten.
When he met Irene, they were already in the second year. It could even be said that they were halfway through the second year. Irene was a very depressed and lonely girl, so it was normal that she didn’t have any friends right now.
In short, Irene was currently trying to ask Atlas if he wanted to be her friend.
"You don’t have to force yourself," Atlas said suddenly.
The expression on Irene’s face fell with these words of Atlas.
Atlas made the gesture that Irene had always done in her previous life. He raised his pinky finger and then said the following words:
"Even if I’m not very good at this, someone I used to know used to say that the pinky promise would never be broken. How about being best friends?"
When he said these words, a sudden smile appeared on Irene’s face. The beautiful half-elf girl with jet-black hair had found someone else like him.
Even before Irene herself breathed her last breath in Atlas’s bosom, she had promised a pinky finger and said the following words to Atlas:
"If the gods deem us worthy, we will meet again in that realm in the sky, next to the most powerful gods and goddesses. Promise me?"
This young girl was seriously one of Atlas’s closest friends, and for Atlas, the mere possibility of being friends with her again was enough to make his heart skip a beat and bring back precious memories.
Irene immediately raised her pinky finger and wrapped it around Atlas’ pinky finger, saying, "You read my mind."
Irene had always admired talented people. This was because the young girl was a serious hard worker; in short, she had earned her talents with her own hands.
The fact that she believed that there were many people like her gave this young girl such a perception.
Already in Atlas’s previous life, their friendship had started in this way.
Even if Atlas was a piece of rubbish in the first year, he managed to reach a really good level in the second year. Even if his magical potential was still quite low, at least he had managed to become a person who could no longer dishonour his sister’s name and reputation.
Irene, like the rest of the academy, was able to see this first-hand.
Since the young girl’s mother had always used the phrase ’pinky finger’, she had indeed become a person who hoped that promises made in this way would not be broken.
Atlas knew this because he wanted to honour Irene’s sadly deceased mother and at the same time show Irene that he felt the same way.
That strange friendship that lasted until someone died, and who knows what else, seemed to blossom again.
After these words, Atlas and Irene talked for almost two hours. Finally, both Atlas and Irene went to their rooms.
The room sections were divided into three.
The top-tier rooms were for people like Atlas, who were incredibly talented or needed serious protection.
In the middle tier, there were talented nobles like Irene and normal people with minor talents. In the lowest level rooms, some students were not directly talented but could graduate.
So Irene and Atlas were not far apart.
Atlas smiled as he entered his room and threw himself back on his bed, then sat up and looked out his window at the night landscape outside.
He had managed to reach one of the people he wanted to meet again at the academy, one of the people he wished to be friends with. The happiness he had was incalculable.
This time he was going to save everything he had lost, and even though he was tired, he had to strive for it. That’s why he refused to sleep and then smiled and said "Hero Connecting".
With these words of his, a huge window opened in front of him.
This time he wanted to connect to one of the heroes that had existed in the past. The fact that he had a great lack of aura had managed to create a big idea in his mind about whom he should connect to.
Who knows, maybe this person would be the one to make the move that would save him. After all, even if his sister was very talented, she was not as strong as the heroes who were seen as direct gods.
