Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 61: To The Barrier!
Chapter 61: To The Barrier!
With each passing second, Atlas and his unit were moving towards the northern region of the black market, the drug and slave trade zone.
The burning marketplaces around, the dark smoke rising every second and disappearing in a spell, the screams echoing around and the bodies of devil worshippers falling to the ground were visible to the naked eye.
They were moving cautiously, but at that moment, Atlas noticed three people coming towards them. Just by looking at them, he could see that they were sorcerers with three magic rings.
So, not even choosing to give his troop any work, he instantly cast body strengthening spells on himself and then sent his aura through his legs and charged forward.
While everyone was trying to figure out what was going on, Atlas said "Torch Fire", and his holy sword was covered in black flames. In just five seconds, Atlas was in front of the trio who were hurrying to cast a spell, and he swung the holy sword while his aura strengthened both his legs and arms.
"KHAAKGG!!!" shouted one of the spellcasters. Atlas slashed his wrists and, without missing a beat, turned to the other and plunged the holy sword directly into his chest.
The demon worshipper, who couldn’t even make a sound out of surprise, died when Atlas pulled the holy sword out of his chest.
Turning to the third demon worshipper, Atlas saw him on his knees and begging for his life.
Atlas turned to a mage in the unit and asked, "Can you observe this bloke’s karma?"
The mage shook his head and stepped forward a few steps and extended his hand. A green light from the wizard’s hand suddenly shot across the street in front of the wizard and then showed the karma of everyone, dead or alive.
The number written on the man on his knees was [-13279].
As soon as Atlas saw this number, he gripped the holy sword tightly and then directly beheaded the man.
Even if blood was gushing out of the body on the ground, this was, of course, something that had to happen.
-13000 was a huge number. It would be a sin to say how many people he had to kill and what he had done.
Nevertheless, the duke’s army had reached Atlas’ contingent and had managed to overtake them.
Indeed, thousands of them were advancing from different entrances. From east, west, north, south and various other places, they were trying to get to the centre, which was close to the centre but facing north.
The barrier at the centre of the area could be seen from a great distance. As they got closer, the size of the barrier increased and, frankly, the fear in everyone’s hearts became even greater.
After all, there were even mages with seven or even eight magic rings in the centre.
Atlas, on the other hand, continued to advance with his troop.
Still, he had a strange feeling. They seemed to be approaching a grave danger that they could not see. He was sure they had all the information from Kris; he knew the dangers of this centre, but he was sure that something more sinister than even he had known in his previous life was here.
It would be fair to say that it was an incredibly awful, suffocating and horrible feeling.
After almost ten minutes of blood-soaked marching, a huge company of almost three hundred men had managed to reach the centre, along with Atlas’ contingent.
Or rather, they had managed to reach the barrier that blocked them from entering.
Atlas saw the duke and his army approaching them and waved at them, shouting, "We must cast the dispell and block spell!"
The dwarf duke stopped dead in his tracks, and then Atlas and his troop retreated backwards as the six- and even seven-ringed wizards in the troop began to attempt a spell in a line.
Atlas retreated to the dwarf duke and his family and turned to the triplets beside him:
"The real battle begins now. There will be dozens of times more devil worshippers inside this barrier than outside. Be careful, keep your head up and try not to be afraid. Remember, there are many times stronger than me here, I cannot protect the three of you."
Both the triplet sisters and the people around them could hear these words.
Lucia, one of the triplets, nodded her head and then said, "We promised you that we will do our best to show you that we are useful people. You saved our lives, let us show you that we are useful."
Atlas nodded, not having anything to say, and began to focus on the barrier as if to say okay.
"Is there anything we need to know?" someone from Atlas’ unit asked.
Atlas shook his head and said, "I have a bad feeling in my heart that I don’t know, be careful, start using defensive spells as soon as the barrier opens. Focus on protecting those who cast barrier spells; if the barrier rises back up, there will be no way for us to cross the barrier," he said, and then he suddenly shuddered with a very strange feeling behind him.
He was not the only one who felt this sensation. Perhaps close to a hundred people around him realised this feeling to the bone.
Atlas suddenly turned around, and while everyone was trying to figure out where this feeling was coming from, he began to observe the flames of one of the burning buildings.
It didn’t take him long to realise that the feeling was not hostile. It was just that the feeling was coming from a huge force, a force so huge that Atlas couldn’t stand against it for even a second.
And the sender of this feeling was none other than Cassandra, even if no one else realised it.
To put it bluntly, Cassandra was quite surprised. Atlas’s combat experience seemed to be much more than this woman had thought.
The low-powered bloodlust emanating from her mana had almost managed to awaken him and the experienced people around him. Still, there was a three or even fourfold power difference between Atlas and those people.
Cassandra could hardly contain herself from applauding.
