Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 62: The Hard Way
Chapter 62: The Hard Way
"Would you look at that. He is better than I thought." Cassandra couldn’t help but say.
Cassandra was frankly surprised by Atlas’s fighting style and the fact that he had enough experience to recognise her.
Yet even this strong woman herself knew that within the barrier that this entire army was trying to cross, there was something that Atlas could not defeat and could most likely destroy the army.
This put Cassandra in a ready position. Maybe she wasn’t going to help them ’directly’, but she hadn’t made any rules about not reducing their burden.
And that meant that Cassandra didn’t even need to tell them what she would do if she thought they were struggling in some way, or if she thought they were still going to continue.
The swirling mana around the barrier grew more and more gigantic with each passing second and spread outwards. The huge barrier began to tremble, albeit slowly, and even some parts of it began to break down.
The wizards were managing to fulfil their task well.
Now the rest of the task would be left to those who would stand against the dangers that were likely to come out when the barrier was broken.
Almost four hundred wizards with six and seven magic rings would be incapacitated after casting their spells.
This meant that the dwarf Duke Bhagholir, a sixth-grade aura master, and his family’s subordinates, the lowest of whom was a fourth-grade aura warrior, would move forward.
The almost thirty minutes of intense yet fast-paced fighting up to this point would turn into a colossal mess once the barrier was untied, or better still, thought to be broken.
The barrier began to tremble more and more.
It could be seen with the naked eye that the magic was disintegrating. It was as if the ribbons were constantly passing around the mages, crashing into the bodies of the aura warriors who had rigged their auras around them and dispersing.
An insanely huge flow of mana was dominating the atmosphere.
With each passing second, everyone’s heartbeats began to accelerate and their bodies began to pump adrenaline to the highest level.
An incredibly overwhelming, suffocating, and even dizzying amount of demonic mana was pouring out of the barrier.
Low-level soldiers were shaking in their seats and some were clinging to others to keep from passing out.
Atlas had created a mana shield to protect the triplet girls next to him. However, the demonic mana overflowing out of the barrier was so powerful that the mana shield Atlas had created began to melt.
Of course, the triplet girls had managed to regain consciousness within those few seconds, but the melting of Atlas’s magic told the story of how dangerous what was inside was.
Just as he was getting nauseous with these thoughts, the barrier around the centre suddenly cracked.
"CRASH!!!"
After only a few seconds, the sound of breaking and disintegration echoed in the ears, and this was the harbinger of only one thing...
War cries suddenly began to rise from all around:
"DEATH!!!!"
"NOT A SINGLE ONE WILL BE LEFT ALIVE!!!"
"FORWARD!!!"
"THE SOLDIERS OF THE EMPIRE ARE COMING!!!"
"FOR THE EMPIRE!"
With the shouts and cries of support rising one after the other, the soldiers started to run.
Monsters began to emerge from inside the barrier, unlike humans or members of other races. This was enough to explain why the evil mana was at such a gigantic level.
There should have been monster trainers and even summoners in the centre inside the now destroyed barrier.
This was a clear indication of a plan. The army had to get through the monsters and reach the trainers and summoners.
Maybe it would be very difficult to reach the monster trainers. After all, the skill called taming was not something that required so much mana. You only had to spend a long time to train a monster, or if you could afford it, you would subdue that monster and take it under your command by force.
It became possible to improve the beast under your command or, if possible, a normal animal. Even if it is rare, considering that monsters and even some mystical creatures use aura, it would be easier to understand how difficult this ability is to obtain compared to mana loss.
Still, summoners could have been much easier to reach. Summoners could use their mana to the point of exhaustion after great efforts, and thus, with their mana connections, they could bind monsters to them and give them orders.
In other words, since the monster trainers could not have trained every one of the perhaps more than ten thousand monsters spilling out of the centre, there had to be a considerable number of summoners in the centre.
Yet at that very moment, something had happened that Atlas hadn’t expected. Something that Cassandra had already realised and that would require her to come out of hiding to take action.
At least Cassandra thought so. Yet, when she looked at Atlas’ demeanour and expression in the area, she could see that this young man needed no help from her. At least for now.
What Atlas and the rest of the others saw directly in front of them was a gigantic monster, he went furious. It was a monster of darkness, over ten metres tall, made of torn clothes, without a face and with two horns shaped like crescents, wearing armour of black gold, holding a huge sword in its right hand.
Still, it didn’t take Atlas long to realise what the beast before him was.
He had killed tens of thousands... no, hundreds of thousands of them in his previous life. He had said he would exterminate them and was willing to die for it.
In his body, from the depths of his brain, it was beginning to emanate outwards. It would even be fair to say that there was smoke coming out of his head.
"A demon!" he shouted in his mind. He was shouting inwardly and doing his best to keep himself calm.
He knew there was no way he could stand up to a demon right now. But he also realised that no one here knew how to defeat a demon.
Or rather, the people here could easily defeat such a low-level demon, but right now everyone was trying to deal with the huge wave of monsters coming at them.
There were simple ways to defeat a demon. In fact, between angels and demons, demons were the easiest to kill.
While angels could be killed by the upper layers of the elements, such as holy water, holy flame species, black ice, etc., the proper way to kill a demon was to crush them with force.
Angels, no matter how shitty creatures they were, chose to fight enemies with honour and competence.
Demons, on the other hand, worshipped power and majesty by nature and acted accordingly.
That is why Atlas had to find at least those who had summoned the demon. No matter how many people he sacrificed, he had to either imprison that person under a seal or kill that person.
Atlas suddenly stopped the dwarf Duke who had started to advance and then asked, "My lord, do you believe you can hold off these monsters, especially the big one?"
The dwarf Duke Bhagholir’s face became even more visibly puzzled as he couldn’t help but ask inwardly, "How much time do you want?"
"Half an hour. Just half an hour," Atlas replied.
As brave as those words were, they were foolish in the eyes of those who were aware of what was happening, even if they were fighting around them.
Everyone could realise Atlas’ power. Of course, no one knew that he could use superior elements except Cassandra, who was watching what was happening from behind.
Of course, demons were also harmed by these superior elements. It was impossible for any creature not to be harmed by such things. It was only the fact that demons placed so much importance on pure power that made them act like mad bulls.
That’s why it was so difficult to restrain them.
"Are you sure, young man?" the dwarf Duke asked, the seriousness in his gaze evident.
When Atlas nodded, the dwarf duke gave his approval and then said, "Whatever you do, do it carefully, do not die. If you die, the great emperor will take my head, young man." and gave the order to attack.
With this order, the incredible size and perfect purity of the magic against the demonic mana began to be recognised in the huge black market.
A sound began to be heard by the ears with the recovery of this mana:
"SWOOOOOOSHHHHH!!!"
Immediately after this sound, everyone could hear their heartbeat and could not even stop in their thoughts.
Then another incredibly ear-piercing sound appeared:
"SWISH!!!"
It was as if the air, the pure and dirty mana in the environment, started to be pierced, and a huge arrow started to move towards the devil, which was rapidly coming out of the centre.
In a short time, the attack was successful with a good enough work to make even Cassandra herself, let alone Atlas, sneer:
"BOOOOOOOM!!!!"
