Chapter 63: Shadow Cats

"BOOOOOOOM!!!!"

After the massive attack, a vast cloud of smoke spread around. Nevertheless, the image of the dark being was visible even through this cloud of smoke.

The demon’s body was bleeding, which was excellent news. It seemed that they had encountered an even lower-level demon than Atlas had thought.

However, Atlas had finally managed to get a chance to move. Since even the demon was bleeding, it still was a demon, it could destroy everyone in here before dying if they were not fast enough.

He had to get quickly to the area inside the centre, which was perhaps fifteen minutes away from him. That was why he was going to use the [Night’s Step] ability Nyx had bestowed upon him.

He ordered his troop and ordered the triplet girls to stay with the dwarf Duke. With the dwarf duke, the triplet sisters would be able to help Atlas more than they could help him.

Atlas was weak, but he could at least sneak his way into the enemy lines, put a long-made magic and try to kill the summoner itself. And since he could support himself with both magic and aura, perhaps he could stand against a mage with five magic rings or even an aura warrior with three levels of aura.

That is precisely why it would have been better for him to be alone.

At that moment, however, one of his troops grabbed his arm and shouted "Please let us follow you, young lord!" in the middle of the battlefield, showing a sign of concern and willpower.

"We’ll have to move quickly, do you think you can keep up with me?" Atlas asked after hearing him.

There were six seven-ringed mages and thirteen six-ringed mages in the troop. Even though the Aura warriors had chosen to stay in the field, the others nodded their heads in agreement with Atlas.

"Fifteen minutes to get there, fifteen minutes to kill the summoner who summoned that monster. Let’s go," Atlas said.

In just seconds, Atlas and twenty-three members of his unit were running.

They were passing through the soldiers passing through the smoke cloud against the monsters and trying to kill as many monsters as they could.

Among the monsters were ’Boogeyman, Spiny Rat, Ice Bear, Rainbow Hawk, Mutant Tiger, Elemental Wolf,’ and many other high-level monsters.

Some of them were monsters that could kill even mages who had formed their fifth magic ring within seconds, and the troop led by Atlas was forced to face and kill more and more dangerous monsters every second.

Nevertheless, thanks to the successive attacks of the dwarf Duke Bhagholir and his huge army, huge waves of smoke were billowing out, sometimes so thick that it was hard to see. This acted as a stealth mechanism for Atlas and his troop, who quickly slipped around the edge of the army and began to overtake the monsters.

Atlas used his Night’s Step ability constantly and kept moving forward, even though it consumed an unfavourable amount of mana.

"Sword of Tranquillity," Atlas suddenly said. He rushed towards the Mutant Tiger that had suddenly appeared in front of him, and with a single move, he changed the direction of his sword and separated the monster’s head from its huge body.

It would be absolutely correct to say that they were almost halfway there.

Nevertheless, a strange sense of apprehension had begun to build within Atlas, just as it had among the troop mages.

The mages were constantly throwing mana around and using only lightning spells to kill monsters, especially quickly.

Despite all this, even the wizards with the seven magic rings were aware that something dangerous was present. Something powerful, perhaps even more dangerous than that dark figure...the devil.

"WE MUST SPEED UP!!!" Atlas suddenly shouted, and the mages who heard this began to follow him, arming their bodies with superior muscle strengthening and similar spells.

With each passing second, the sense of danger grew and the pressure increased.

The reason for this was realised after only two minutes.

Suddenly, dark figures appeared in front of the group. However, these figures were neither demons nor anything of the sort.

"Shadow Cats?" Atlas muttered to himself.

Shadow Cats were incredibly rare and incredibly difficult to tame.

They could take the shape of their owners and mimic them. According to legend, Darkness Cat, the evolved form of Shadow Cat, could even increase the magic power in their bodies and use magic just like their owners.

There were two of these cats in front of the group right now.

They appeared to be injured and chained. Extremely aggressive and tired, even exhausted, could be seen through the smoke.

The magic chains seemed to be affecting the cats. These chains acted as a seal that prevented them from escaping. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Atlas suddenly raised his hand and signalled his soldiers to halt.

He might have been on a battlefield, but the two mystical beasts before him had been forcibly subdued. This was not a taming or direct domestication following a power struggle.

They had been sealed and forced to obey their masters.

It had been easy for Atlas to realise this. After all, he had encountered millions of such animals in his previous life.

While everyone was trying to figure out what was going on and killing the other monsters that were approaching Atlas, Atlas slowly made his way towards the two shadow cats standing in front of him.

"Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you," Atlas said gently. Standing before him were two members of perhaps one of the most intelligent races of mystical beasts in the world. It would be foolish to think that the cats didn’t understand Atlas.

Still, the cats’ gaze did not return to normal. Both monsters were in a very wild state. The fact that these two were strong enough to kill Atlas in a matter of seconds showed the danger of the thing he was trying to do.

It was very dangerous, especially when we think all of this was happening literally in the middle of a battlefield full of monsters.

Despite all this, Atlas thought that these mystical beasts should be in their own nature. Some creatures should not have been involved in the war. Some creatures were too pure and kind.
