Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 67: Finally
Chapter 67: Finally
At that moment, the sound of heavy footsteps approaching from far away became audible.
Dozens of soldiers marched towards the field with the Dwarf Duke Bhagholir in front of them.
Bhagholir’s hopeful and jubilant expression as he came into the field vanished the moment he saw Atlas, as did the rest of the army and Atlas’ troop.
The young man looked more than a little sad and heartbroken.
The young man who had told himself that he would no longer be a hero, or that he had chosen not to be a random hero, was still in the deepest recesses of his soul, the soul filled with the cracks that Chronos had sent back in time.
Atlas was trying to empathise. He had seen what he was seeing now many times, but no matter how many times he saw something so awful, he couldn’t seem to get used to it. Maybe he wasn’t vomiting or dizzy with shock like the first time he’d seen it, but his chest was tight with pity for those who had suffered so much.
"Young man," Bhagholir said suddenly, and soon he had made it to where Atlas and the rest of them were, and addressed Atlas gently. freёnovelkiss.com
"We have made it, my lord. There is another camp up ahead, perhaps ten minutes away. If it is possible, you can take the rest of the troop and rescue the slaves there. There are quite a few slaves here. Judging by the spells cast, it is likely that thousands more slaves are still there," Atlas said suddenly. He seemed to wish he hadn’t spoken so bluntly.
As soon as he said these words, he turned to the mage troop and then said in a serious and commanding tone, "Gather round! You will follow Duke Bhagholir!" he shouted.
At his words, all the mages under his command stood in front of the duke, and after paying their respects, they began to stand next to the aura warriors and their masters, ready to leave.
"What are you going to do?" the great dwarf Duke Bhagholir suddenly asked.
"Forgive me, my lord, I may not look like one, but I am still a wizard with three magic rings and a person with a second-level aura, and both my mana and aura energy are at rock bottom. I need to rest."
Immediately after that, he saw the triplet vampire sisters covered in blood and said, "You three look much better than I thought. You have my word, you can follow me from today," and continued walking.
Each of the triplet sisters was definitely happier than Atlas could ever imagine.
"Thank you, sir!" Lyra suddenly said, and then she and her sisters followed Atlas, who had already started walking.
After almost half an hour of walking, Atlas and the triplet sisters behind him had reached the front of the passage through which the black market had entered, and then sat down where they could find a seat.
All four of them were, of course, on guard against any possibility.
Atlas, on the other hand, was waiting in an incredibly tired state. The deep feeling of the disappearance of the aura in his body was eating him from the inside. He was so exhausted that he didn’t even need to explain.
As his mana became close to exhaustion, his body was officially discoloured and his head began to spin.
As he was trying to keep himself upright and alert, he realised that someone was coming from a distance.
He instantly stood up and sent his holy sword into his inventory, taking the triplet vampire sisters behind him and trying to protect them. Despite the fact that these sisters were currently stronger than him, Atlas was trying to protect them.
Indeed, it seemed that these triplet sisters had already managed to gain a place in his heart.
Atlas carefully squinted his eyes to see who was coming and continued to wait. At that moment, the triplet sisters standing behind him rushed forward and started running fast.
Before Atlas realised what was happening, he saw the triplet sisters hugging the person coming from afar.
At that moment, a word managed to reach his ear:
"Auntie!!!"
When Atlas heard this word, he threw himself back to where he had just been sitting and leaned as comfortably as possible against the large stone behind him, raising his holy sword to the inventory.
Almost half a minute later, the person appeared in front of him.
"Forgive my insolence, my lady, I don’t even have the strength to move," Atlas said suddenly.
The person in front of him was none other than Cassandra.
"Well done," Cassandra said suddenly, gently standing in front of Atlas and then stroking his hair.
The fact that the young woman didn’t seem to care about the blood on her hands made for a rather sweet sight.
"I did my best, I’m sorry..." Atlas said, still carrying that thin layer of sadness.
It saddened him that there were so many deaths when he really could have saved more. Yet, just like in his old life, instead of focusing on what he had saved, he kept thinking about what he had not saved.
This way of thinking had to change.
Cassandra smiled in a seriously proud way when she heard those words and then said, "Then what you did was one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t even know if I should call you stupid or very smart," she replied, before sitting down next to Atlas and adding, "I think Lady Cordelia was right."
Atlas looked at Cassandra with a smile, even though he didn’t quite know where that statement had come from, and said, "Thank you, my lady," and then looked at the triplet sisters.
"All three of them can stay with you, my nieces, these three girls, take care of them. If they end up getting close to dying, I’m counting on you to make sure that doesn’t happen," Cassandra said suddenly.
Atlas smiled at those words and then said, "I’ll do my best," and finally closed his eyes his body seemed to be trying to switch off his own power button, words could not describe how tired Atlas was...
