Chapter 68: She Likes Him

He looked like he’d been asleep for almost half an hour. Of course, even if he didn’t know it, the battle was over in that half hour.

When he opened his eyes again, Atlas was able to recognise the soldiers and others standing in front of him. He saw that the soldiers of the unit his sister had placed under his command were on their knees.

Even though he couldn’t understand what was going on, he noticed Cassandra sitting right next to him and said, "They must have realised you were a Sage, my lady."

"I am not the reason they are on their knees, my dear," Cassandra said with a face that held love on it while holding herself back from laughing, and then stood up holding Atlas.

At that moment, he saw behind the soldiers in front of him and saw hundreds...maybe thousands of soldiers on their knees.

It was something he had rarely seen, even in his previous life. After all, when the apocalypse descended on this world, everyone was looking for each other’s death, except for those who were close to each other.

"What’s going on?" Atlas asked in a low voice.

"The number of slaves on the home front exceeds ten thousand. if you hadn’t killed the summoners and cleared the way for them, they would have all died, they would have had a much larger mana capacity than necessary. What will they do but fall to their knees in front of the one who won the war?" Cassandra said suddenly.

He shook his head as he heard those words, but nothing came out of his vocal cords. It was obvious that he was touched, but this feeling was nothing more than pride.

While Atlas was struggling with this feeling, the sorceress, who was the closest person to being an eight-ringed sorceress, stood up and then said, "My name is Emma Crocs, let me speak, my lord."

When Atlas heard these words, he nodded with his head and started to hear the words he thought he would never hear at that moment:

"Grand General Eva refuses nobility, sir. No matter how much His Majesty Aether offers it, Lady Eva always refuses it. Therefore, we cannot become knights of a noble house. Nevertheless, if by any chance you decide to become a noble in the future, we, a small part of the huge army under the command of Eva the Maiden of the Battlefield, would like to be the soldiers of your house."

After these words, the sorceress, who introduced herself as Emma, stood where she was for a few seconds, took a deep breath and continued her words:

"Our life, our purpose is to serve Lady Eva, but Lady Eva herself is a knight protecting the emperor himself. We know that she does this because when she becomes a noble, she will have to stand at the head of her house, but this is completely unfair! Our purpose is to serve a perfect master. I come from a knight’s house, I am a noble, but my blood, my power, my everything means nothing if I have no master to serve. We would rather serve her little brother when that brother is more perfect than her."

As Eva finished, Atlas turned to Cassandra, who was standing to his right, and asked, "What should I do?" Of course, he was mature enough to answer for himself; even in his previous life, he had met thousands of people who wanted to serve him, even if most of them had tried to kill each other.

Still, it was a great responsibility, a huge responsibility indeed. Being a noble meant that he was bound to the empire, but when he thought about it... If he was to be bound to an empire, he would rather it be to the Epsilon Empire.

"You’re Lady Cordelia’s student, Atlas..." Cassandra said suddenly and then patted Atlas’ cheek and added, "It shows how kind-hearted you are to think twice when you could have the entire Epsilon Empire if you wanted it."

"I will speak to Aether personally, don’t worry, if you want a master to follow, so be it," Cassandra said. freёnovelkiss.com

With that, the great dwarf Duke Bhagholir finally stepped forward and then raised his massive hammer in the air and uttered these words:

"THE RAID ENDED IN VICTORY, WE MANAGED TO KILL TENS OF THOUSANDS WITH ONLY A HUNDRED CASUALTIES, LONG LIVE THE EPSILON EMPIRE!!!!"

With these words, all the soldiers began to rejoice and cheer one after the other. Still, Atlas could see the huge crowd standing in the distance. The slaves were just standing there.

"Well...Lady Cassandra, I have a question," Atlas said suddenly.

When Cassandra heard Atlas, she looked at him carefully and asked, "What is it?"

"Is it possible that when I become a noble, I could try to get a place close to the academy if possible? I don’t think I’ll have much of a choice," Atlas said.

"It is possible to do that, but I don’t understand, what just happened?" asked Cassandra curiously.

"These people...people from different races who have suffered different things. I was wondering if they would want to stay in the place I have, when it was revealed that most people had made them suffer..." replied Atlas.

Cassandra smiled and then said, "I can manage to do that. To the west of the city of Herria, where the cold connects with the sea, there is an empty land, a place that could be a huge cold harbour city. It will be very difficult to operate, and it will be difficult to reach, considering that it is three thousand kilometres away from the city of Herria, but if I help, everything will be easier."

Atlas was surprised by this answer and then said, "Are you planning to help? I would be honoured, my lady."

Cassandra got closer to Atlas and stroked his cheek again, then said, "I like that, my dear, I think I will stay in your territory for a while, and if a Sage stays somewhere, it should be the best place, right?" and then she took Atlas’ hand and kissed his hand.

It seemed like the second strongest wizard in the whole world, Cassandra, found someone that she was interested in.

When she did so, she left nothing but a shocked crowd around.
