Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 79: Taming The Cats
Chapter 79: Taming The Cats
At the end of the day, Atlas had gone to his room to rest, as usual, and finally had a chance to actually rest. His life had been a mess since entering the academy, but at least he was on a good path. Still, it was making him incredibly tired.
After only a few minutes of being able to fall asleep, when he opened his eyes again and saw the light coming in through the window in his room, he was instantly on his feet.
He immediately took a short nap and then got dressed, put on the robes worn by the first years and left his room.
After having a short breakfast in the cafeteria, he quickly ran to catch his first class and finally arrived at his destination.
A few other first-year students were running with him. It was a funny sight.
Everyone was gathered in the classroom area, or rather in a place that was within the boundaries of the academy but close to the outer area.
This was the taming class itself. A smiling man with auburn, curly hair and golden eyes stood in the centre of the classroom.
This was Professor Plum himself. He was one of the most talented people in Taming and too young to be a professor. He was a real talent.
Seeing that all the students had gathered, the professor gently looked around and said, "For two months I have taught you how to train and tame monsters and animals, and now it’s time to move on to practical work." Professor Plum said.
Immediately after that, he looked at the only fifty people in the class one by one and said, "Come on, bring out your summoning runes."
Since taming could be successful not only with existing monsters but also with summoned monsters, the taming class could be really important.
Many people would choose to become a summoner or a tamer directly without professional training or a full grasp of the tricks of the trade.
However, this was not the case for Superhero Academy Globe. Here, there was training for almost every branch of magic. Of course, the tamer class was one of them.
Atlas drew a rune directly with his mana and then prepared to cast the spell by transferring the rune outside, on the stone floor on the ground.
There were already people around summoning monsters. It was even possible to see people who already had pet monsters.
Atlas did not want to be left behind, so he activated the rune he had placed on the stone floor while the eyes of both Professor Plum and the rest of the class were on him.
With that, a very bright light scattered around and then two dark figures appeared in the summoning rune.
Professor Plum rushed to Atlas’ side, incredibly astonished. The young man could not believe what his student had accomplished.
"Shadow Cat? Two of them?" Professor Plum questioned.
Atlas immediately leaned down and looked at the cats and questioned, "You two again?"
Professor Plum looked at Atlas with great curiosity. It was not easy for him to understand what his words meant.
Atlas, as if aware of this situation, turned to Professor Plum and said, "Two cats I rescued during the raid, Professor. I don’t know why they came, I created a low-level rune..."
"This is excellent news. You must try to tame them immediately! This is a chance not to be missed, they are perfect beasts, perfect beings that fall into the category of mystical beasts!" Professor Plum said, the interest on his face was really beautiful.
Atlas shook his head and then said, "Frankly, I’d rather these two little cats be free. They’ve been tortured by humans for years, their bodies are injured, and they’re on a compulsory service collar. So I don’t want to tame them."
Professor Plum was disappointed at that moment but nodded his head as if he understood. Few people could understand the feelings of monsters better than Plum, who had been striving to become a monster tamer since childhood.
With that, Atlas cancelled the rune device with the summoning spell and then stood up. With the disappearance of the rune, the light disappeared, but the expression on Professor Plum’s face did not change.
Everyone was still looking at the place where the rune was. Atlas had already turned his head, but because of the surprised expressions of the students and the professor, he looked towards the place where he destroyed the rune.
Two shadow cats were also looking at him. They seemed to be sitting like good cats and waiting for Atlas.
"Unbelievable..." said Professor Plum.
Atlas turned to the professor with one eyebrow raised and then asked, "What is unbelievable, professor?"
Professor Plum put his hands on his head as if he had lost his mind as soon as he heard these words, and then said, "The rune spell deactivated and disappeared on top of it, yet they are still here. In short, these two shadow cats are giving you a chance."
"A chance?" questioned Atlas, confused. "Yes, a chance for you to tame them...they submit to you," he replied.
"Oh come on..." Atlas suddenly muttered. He looked at the little kittens and then patted them on the head before adding, "I tell you that you need to be free, and you refuse to get away from me."
With that, the two shadow cats began to rub against Atlas and began to emit their purring sounds. They left Atlas no choice.
As soon as Atlas took them under his protection, the shadow cats’ powers would be equal to Atlas’. Right now, the cats were capable of killing a seven-ringed sorcerer, but it was unbelievable that they would approach Atlas even for the sake of weakening themselves.
Cats were intelligent enough to realise what was about to happen. They were not mystical monsters for nothing.
Atlas grabbed the two cats and then put them in front of him.
"Well...We gotta do what we gotta do," he said. Taming seemed to be going to happen anyway.
