Chapter 78: They Arrived

Atlas continued to unleash attack after attack, striking directly at the sword in Cordelia’s hand. Even as his mana began to dwindle, his speed had increased to a perfect level. There was no way he could improve his speed any further at the moment.

He had used almost every one of his abilities. He only had the Starry Night ability left, but he chose not to use it.

And after almost two hours of sword fighting, Atlas’ thoughts had completely changed.

While he was dealing with his thoughts, six people entered Cordelia’s area. The Sages had gathered.

"So this is Atlas, is it?" Talon said suddenly.

"He’s pretty weak, even for a student; he looks weak," Bellatrix grumbled.

"I agree," Juliet added.

"Watch, this isn’t the end of what he’s capable of, after all, I’ve seen him with my own eyes, fighting. He’s too good. A genius." Cassandra replied, then turned to Juliet and added, "I would appreciate it if you did not insult my future husband."

Irene’s jaw dropped at the sudden arrival of the Sages. Of course, she had expected to meet a Sage, but she had not expected all seven Sages to be present.

Even though Lady Cordelia had pointed this out, Irene honestly thought Cordelia was making fun of her.

"Come on, Atlas, I know you can do better than this; your speed is starting to slow. Your attacks are becoming uncontrolled. There will be times in real life when you’ll be fighting against a single target for more than two hours," Cordelia suddenly said.

When Atlas heard these words, he realised that the duel had to come to an end, at least he had to prove himself.

At that moment, he said "Starry Night," without waiting.

At that moment, the aura in his body changed, and a huge layer of aura overflowed out of his body. It was incredible that there was such a big difference between a level three aura and a level two aura.

Atlas’s sword was once again covered in red and black colours, and his strength had increased tremendously. Still, it wasn’t enough.

When Atlas lunged at Cordelia again, he first activated his Night’s Step ability again, and then activated his Goddess’s Fury ability.

At that moment, Atlas’ speed became 60% faster than before, and more than half of his third aura level was instantly filled.

At that moment, Atlas and Cordelia’s swords clashed again:

"CHIINNNGGG!!!"

An incredible echo of almost ten seconds reverberated through the magically created space, and Cordelia was forced to take exactly one step back.

At that moment, the Sages, their eyes wide, did not know what to say, and Atlas, on the contrary, was aware of what he was going to say and said the following words:

"To push a Sage back a step, even if he has his guard down and is using no more than 1% of his power. There is no greater honour than that."

Cordelia smiled at the young man’s words and then said, "There are many places where you can improve, but they are very small places. I think it’s because of your sister, you are close to perfect in close combat. You have a better foundation than most aura masters I know."

Atlas bowed to his professor with great honour, then said, "Thank you, my lady."

At that moment, the conversation between the Sages flared up:

"Are you kidding? He...managed to push Lady Cordelia back a step," Cain said. Indeed, even he couldn’t believe his eyes like the others.

When Atlas showed his respect to Professor Cordelia, he fell to the ground and tried to discharge the adrenaline in his body as if he had fainted.

He was breathing deeply. It was amazing how tired Atlas was, even though he had only attacked.

He had only been attacking Cordelia for two hours, but at least he had managed to prevail. At least he had succeeded in that. That was good enough for him.

At least that’s what Atlas thought, until Cordelia’s voice rose:

"Well? What are you waiting for? Get ready, it’s my turn to strike now."

As soon as Atlas heard those words, he got up from where he was and went straight into a defensive position. It was only then that he realised the incredibly heavy force on his sword.

"Aghk!!!"

Atlas shouted in amazement and managed to fly a few metres backwards through the air. However, he finally managed to notice Cassandra and the others standing outside the duel.

Even though he was quite hurt, he did not forget to greet Cassandra with his hand and then, even if it was difficult, he stood up and started to move towards Cordelia.

Atlas was holding his training sword very tightly in his hand and at the same time praying inwardly that he would not be knocked unconscious from the pain.

While he was still imagining these thoughts in his mind, Cordelia appeared in front of him and, with a single move, she threw Atlas out of the dueling chamber.

At that moment, Cordelia began to speak at length:

"Offensively, you really have almost no deficiencies, but defensively, you lack a lot. Your eyes and brain work fine, yet you still couldn’t follow me even though I wasn’t using any speed boosts or anything like that."

Immediately after this, she ordered Atlas to stand up and then slowly tried to teach him a defensive form.

"They say the best defence is an offensive attack, and they’re not wrong. Here’s what you need to know, though. Sometimes even your attacks won’t work. When that time comes, you have to hold on so well that you can function better in life."

As Cordelia finished, she pushed Atlas’ leg back a little, changed the way he held his sword, and then said, "This is just one of the stances. We will practice this in every dueling lesson. That’s all for now." Cordelia was silent.

Atlas, on the other hand, with a strange feeling that the episode, which was over in just three or four minutes, had given him, stood up and nodded his head and said, "All right."

Cordelia finally approached the Sages and gestured to Irene, beckoning the young girl over. When Irene respectfully approached Cordelia, she bowed to the beautiful woman and said, "Yes, my lady."

Cordelia gently patted the young girl on the head and said, "You said it was your biggest dream to meet Bellatrix, didn’t you?" and pushed Irene towards Bellatrix.

Irene immediately started fanboying before Bellatrix realised what was happening. The other Sages started to look carefully at Cordelia, their lady, to understand what was going on and why Cordelia had called them again.

"You have done well. The most important reason I asked you to come here was because I wanted to congratulate you. You will have the right to choose one item from my treasury. Also, congratulations on saving the continent the empire is in from the devil worshippers," Cordelia said.

The Lady turned to Atlas with a big smile on her face and gave a direct order, "Come here, Atlas."

Atlas got up from the place he was sitting with difficulty and then came to Cordelia and greeted all the Sages with respect. Then he turned to Irene and said, "Come on, Irene."

Irene looked at Bellatrix at that moment and asked, "My lady, may I have five minutes of your time?"

Bellatrix, seeing the bright look on Cordelia’s face, accepted the request and began to talk to Irene a little away from the group.

The rest of them were here for the very reason Cordelia had been summoned.

"You have work to do. Cassandra has already begun building and cleaning. She is using elemental wizards and High Dwarves to build houses in the interior of the combined mountain ranges of the Misty Mountains. She is also trying to build a palace with a full view of the cold region’s sea to be the home of the Duke Shorekeeper."

"In that case, we must be ready. All those people you sent to your territories, more than ten thousand slaves Atlas rescued in the city of Herria, and many more will be in the territory of the Shorekeeper duchy in the future. In this case, I must say it again. We must be ready."

When Cordelia finished, Atlas raised his hand, and when he received permission to speak, he said, "Professor. I’m sure Lady Cassandra is doing a very good job. I don’t see the point in keeping the other Sages busy."

When Atlas uttered these words, Cordelia patted his head and then uttered the following words:

"You are 15 years old. In our eyes, you are no different from a newborn baby. Let us help you. Besides, we don’t always have a student as bright as you, no one does. In this case, it is my duty to help you, it is only important to use those under my command."

Atlas scratched his head when he heard these words and said, "Very well, my lady, as you wish," and shut his mouth.

He just wanted to follow her intentions at this point.
