Chapter 83: Invitation

Atlas could see that each document was an authorisation for roads to be built over many kilometres, hundreds of houses to be built, and even mineral deposits to be made in the mountain ranges.

In the signature section, Cassandra’s signature for project management was already there, only the Duke Shorkeeper’s signature was needed.

Atlas read the documents in detail, one by one, and then studied the superficial sketches drawn on the documents and realised that each of these projects really ran for tens of kilometres.

The area given to him was indeed a huge territory. Nevertheless, such a project could be completed in just over a year.

Full house sketches were drawn on an area large enough to accommodate perhaps a hundred thousand people, and even harbour sketches were being drawn in the area opening to the glacial sea.

Atlas’ blood was boiling with excitement, he had acquired a much larger territory than he had thought.

Since he had left all the decisions and business aspects to Cassandra, he hadn’t fully realised how much he had until now.

It was noted in the documents that the number of labourers to be employed exceeded fifteen thousand, and Atlas had no reason not to sign the documents.

With the pen he took from Cassandra, Atlas quickly signed the documents and Cassandra smiled and said, "Well, now it will only be necessary to send the documents to the god Sancus and complete the documents in his presence, the God of Oath."

Atlas knew this was a lot of work. Cassandra seemed to have taken on something very serious indeed. He had no idea what enormous sums of money she was spending on these projects. Maybe ten million, maybe a hundred million gold pieces, or even more than that.

Of course, Atlas realised, the amount of money Cassandra had at her disposal was beyond his wildest imagination. If Cordelia was thought to have lived for two million years, Cassandra might have lived for half that long.

Of course, there was no certainty, and Atlas didn’t want to anger them by asking the question.

"Thank you," Atlas said, and this time he was the one who took Cassandra’s hand.

Cassandra smiled and joked, "How about a kiss then?" She gathered the documents without even giving Atlas the right to answer, and then stood up and said, "Excuse me, Lady Cordelia, the mission awaits me." She left the room with Cordelia’s approval.

He left behind Cordelia, who looked at Atlas with a smiling expression.

"Then I’ll go too. If I need to get stronger, starting now would be a good option." Atlas said and then stood up, bowed to the three Sages in the room and left the room.

As he approached his own room for a short while, he saw River and greeted the young girl, even if she was embarrassed.

River was happy to see Atlas and then came to him, even if she was equally embarrassed, and said, "I want to apologise."

When Atlas asked "For what?" with great surprise, River replied in a rather awkward way, "I may have acted a little...obsessed...I wanted to be friends, just my friend, but I couldn’t do anything but follow you around."

Atlas smiled and realised at that moment that there had been a big misunderstanding on his part.

"It was a little creepy, but I’m fine with it. I don’t think more friends will do me any harm," Atlas complained.

"After I found out you were a duke, I thought I should apologise...I don’t want to cause trouble for my family in the future." River muttered. "Haha..." Atlas laughed, albeit involuntarily.

"It really doesn’t matter, I don’t think it’s a problem since you’ve explained everything," he added after his own laughter.

River, on the other hand, let out a deep, relieved breath, and then, looking carefully at Atlas, said, "One more thing."

Atlas, on the other hand, questioned with great curiosity, "What happened?" and then said, "My mum wants to see you. You know, because you saved my life." he got an answer.

This was the main thing that surprised Atlas. He had only met the Elf Queen twice before.

Unfortunately, the Elf Queen had passed away before the third time.

It was during the time of the blood wars, when Atlas began to appear as a holy hero, and when he was trying to kill the Angels coming out of the portal opened in the world tree, he was declared by the Elf Queen as the hero of the elven people.

He was one of the most kind-hearted people Atlas had ever met in his life.

That’s why Atlas was so surprised when he found out who River was, and that’s exactly why he was so surprised that a woman like her wanted to see him right now.

After all, before the blood war, the Elven Queen had been known as a woman who hated humans in particular.

"If this is a political summons, I regret to decline. Even if I am a duke and have the judgement of rank at my disposal, I am not currently enrolled, I have no influence on foreign policy before the age of 18." Atlas said suddenly, not wanting to be summoned for political reasons over River.

"No! Mum’s not like that, I can assure you. She just said she wanted to say thank you. She said she never met anyone like you before," River complained.

Atlas scratched the back of his head and replied, "Alright, but that’s not possible right now, I’ll be in deep training for a week, we can do it next Friday if that’s possible."

River instantly nodded her head in agreement and left, and Atlas went into his room.

There was only one thing for him to do, and that was to meet with a hero, or meet directly with a god or goddess and win a few things. He had three chances he could use right now.

He could transform into a five-ringed sorcerer and a three-level aura warrior.

It would just be... very difficult.
