Apocalypse: I have a supermarket stocked with supplies-Chapter 41 - : Who dares to provoke him?
Chapter 41: Who dares to provoke him?
The old lady, unable to wail anymore, took a peek at the people around her.
She was so anxious.
Why was nobody helping her?
People nowadays are all cold-hearted, just like her unlucky daughter-in-law, who found food and gobbled it all up by herself without thinking of showing some filial piety to her mother-in-law.
These people, too, just watching those two beat her, not even thinking of helping. At the apocalypse, even compassion was gone.
The old lady got a fright when she saw that, although they were all gathered around, not a single person dared to speak.
...
There were even a few who had children that covered their children’s mouths, afraid their kids would start clamoring for hot pot.
They wouldn’t dare touch Chi Yan’s stuff.
Chi Yan was simply a madman, who would dare to provoke him?
Those who knew him didn’t dare.
Those who didn’t, upon seeing the situation, guessed that Chi Yan must be some big shot. Didn’t they see that even the superpower wielders in front didn’t make a peep?
They didn’t have superpowers themselves, how could they dare to provoke him?
Thus, unbeknownst to them, the cave was left with only the old lady’s wailing and Lin Murong’s huffing and puffing as he worked.
Everyone else just quietly watched the drama unfold.
However, a few mothers, seeing the baby lying on the ground, felt somewhat unbearable, but they were helpless.
Su Yinhe looked at the people around, then at Chi Yan eating beef rolls.
It seems like those who had hot pot with her weren’t ordinary folk at all.
The old lady wailed a couple more times, saw that still no one helped, and that Chi Yan and Su Yinhe had no reaction, so she finally stopped wailing completely.
“Keep going,” Chi Yan said nonchalantly without even stopping his chopsticks when he heard the silence.
His voice wasn’t loud, but it echoed throughout the cave.
“You…”
“Keep going, keep going, keep yelling, old lady. Maybe if Brother Chi hears you and is pleased, he might just reward you with a couple of bags of food,” said someone, not shy about stirring up trouble.
As long as they didn’t provoke the madman themselves, they were quite happy to watch the commotion.
After all, in this apocalypse, there was nothing left, and they had to use all their effort just to survive, which was very stifling.
The opportunity to watch some action was rare.
“Yes, Chi Yan might not have much, but he’s got plenty of food. He’s quite generous too, keep shouting, and if he’s pleased, he might just reward you.”
“Make it louder, old lady. Wasn’t your voice much louder just now?” In the cave, there were people who had been swindled by the old lady before, and they didn’t miss this chance to stir up more trouble.
It hadn’t been easy for them to get some food, and when this damn old lady saw them with food, she shamelessly came up asking for it. The little food they had had been obtained at the risk of their lives; none of them wanted to give it to some unknown old lady out of the blue.
Naturally, they refused, and upon hearing this, the old lady started shouting that they lacked compassion and then started rolling on the ground with a child in her arms.
When the patrol team from the station saw the old lady with a child, although they knew she was faking, rules meant that those swindled were the ones penalized.
Now, seeing that the damn old lady was trying to swindle Chi Yan, the madman, they were naturally happy to watch the drama unfold while occasionally fanning the flames.
“You… you… well done, ganging up against an old lady on the verge of death! Shameless,” the old lady said, dumbfounded by their comments, but she still had some fight left in her and immediately started ranting.
“My, oh my. The apocalypse is here, if you want to be buried, just go ahead quickly. Resources are tight now, an old lady like you who can’t contribute should learn to save resources for the station. With those resources, your dear grandchildren can grow up better,” someone sarcastically retorted, flipping the old lady over.
The old lady forgot about Su Yinhe and Chi Yan, who were still enjoying their hot pot, and started arguing with the person who made the sarcastic remark.
One thing led to another, and it turned into a brawl.
If you can’t win an argument, fight.
And so, it remained that only Chi Yan and Su Yinhe were quietly enjoying their hot pot.
There was also Lin Murong, that fool, still struggling with the tent—thoroughly focused.
When Lin Murong finally managed to set up the tent and was about to go and claim credit, he found that the two behind him were happily enjoying their hot pot.
There was a big brawl going on next to them.
Lin Murong couldn’t believe his eyes.
“Great. I’m over there slaving away, and you guys are just here eating hot pot? Where’s the justice in that?”
“Are you going to eat?”
“Yes.”
“Then sit down.” Chi Yan motioned to him with his eyes and then pulled up a chair.
After Lin Murong sat down, Su Yinhe smoothly took out a bowl and chopsticks. “Mix your own dipping sauce.”
“Alright, alright.” Lin Murong skillfully whipped up his dipping sauce and joined the crowd snagging food.
“Hey hey hey! Brother Chi, that was my beef roll!”
“Galaxy, get another plate of potatoes. The potatoes are delicious.”

“I’ll have a piece of your kelp.”
“Hey, where’s my duck intestine?”
“Where’s my baby bok choy?”
“Where are my glass noodles?”
At the table, it was all Lin Murong’s voice, and his movements didn’t slow down at all.
After the three of them finished the hot pot, Su Yinhe cleared the remaining pot and rubbish into her space and then took out milk tea, one cup for each person.
It was only then that Lin Murong found time to ask, “What just happened?”
“Um… it was, you know, a staged accident sort of thing.” Su Yinhe tried organizing her thoughts. “And then the people on the side of justice couldn’t stand it anymore.”
“Huh?” Lin Murong chewed on a pearl. “Come on, give me the details.” Lin Murong was intrigued. Gossip? That was his specialty.
Su Yinhe glanced at Chi Yan, who was seriously sipping tea, and quietly related the entire development and outcome of the incident to Lin Murong.
Lin Murong listened with rapt attention.
Just as he was about to have a good chat with Su Yinhe, Chi Yan asked him to organize the pots, pans, ladles, and various daily necessities they would need over the next few days.
Lin Murong: “…”
Back to washing pots again.
Lin Murong drank his milk tea as quickly as he could, and after he finished, he picked off the seal, poured all the remaining pearls into his mouth, and resigned himself to tidying up, muttering to himself as he did.
Of course, he dared not curse openly; he could only do it secretly in his heart.
He crunched the pearls in his mouth as if they were Chi Yan, chewing them fiercely.
Su Yinhe wasn’t initially planning to stay with them, but since the tents were set up, she decided to experience it a little.
The supermarket could wait until tomorrow.
They had hot pot for lunch, and the three of them didn’t eat anything else that day. Among the three, two had special powers that meant they didn’t have to worry about food or drink.
But it was different for the others in the cave. Most had woken up at midnight and fled to the cave, thinking only of escaping and bringing very little with them.
They swam miserably in water for half the day before reaching here.
They were both cold and hungry.
And they had nothing at all. It would have been bearable, except they had to smell other people’s hot pot.
If it weren’t for Chi Yan being there, a real madman, they would have probably surged forward and snatched the food.
When someone from the base came to distribute free steaming mush in the afternoon, the people in the cave, holding their hot and murky mush, were moved to tears.
How nice. They could have a warm meal. They thought they were going to starve.
They hadn’t expected the base to remember them at that time.
