Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 273: Youngest child
Unbeknownst to Elena and the others, the light from the Golden Tablet spread far beyond Camel Tower.
Citizens who saw it from a distance thought it was an official safe zone created by the higher-ups and began rushing toward it, hoping to take shelter.
Mutated animals also moved in the same direction, drawn by the overwhelming spiritual energy.
On the top floor, the Golden Tablet shone even brighter.
Yet instead of blinding them, its glow felt warm and gentle, as if wrapping the room in a protective embrace.
Elena noticed the spiritual energy leaking from the Golden tablet—waves of golden light flowing outward.
’Is this the [Restoration] she had commanded?’
"Wife... what’s going on with the Rugg ... I mean the Golden Tablet?" Ethan asked, bewildered by the sudden, intense light it released.
Before Elena could answer, a golden orb materialized in front of them. It glittered beautifully, taking everyone’s breath away.
Then, in a flash, it darted forward and entered the baby’s tiny body. Moments later, the infant floated out of Ethan’s arms, rising gently into the air.
But suddenly, a strange green light formed around him—shifting, swirling—before wrapping him completely.
Ethan tensed and grew alarmed, but when he saw Elena watching with calm, hopeful eyes, some of his fear eased.
He didn’t blame the Golden Tablet after what had happened before, but he was terrified of a repeat... terrified of losing his child again.
He resolved to ask Elena later about the barrier once things settled.
The green light then thickened and slowly transformed into a large leaf, cocooning the baby within it.
It glowed softly, pulsing with mysterious life—everyone who saw it stood frozen, stunned by the magical sight.
And then—after a few seconds—
A tiny cry broke through. Weak, but steady. And with it, a powerful wave of spiritual energy erupted outward.
"Waaaah... waaaaah..."
The leaf wrapped around the baby slowly began to unfold—each layer peeling back with gentle grace.
Bit by bit, it revealed a healthy little boy with his tiny feet kicking softly.
His complexion had returned to normal, his cheeks round and chubby, his skin smooth and tender as if he had never been in danger.
Everyone gasped at the transformation, their shock quickly melting into overwhelming relief.
Finally, the youngest was safe.
Ethan nearly jumped in joy. His heart soared as he reached forward and carefully lifted his newborn son from the floating leaf.
"Son... you did great. Daddy’s so proud of you for fighting till the end," he whispered, voice trembling.
But the baby had already drifted into a peaceful sleep, breathing steadily, utterly unaware of his father’s emotional soliloquy.
Ethan turned to Elena, wanting to share the moment with her.
She wore a tired but joyful smile, though her eyes were distant—caught in deep thought.
Elena was pondering the strange green leaf, trying to understand what it was.
But before she could think further, Ethan gently interrupted her, bringing the baby closer so she could see him clearly.
"Wife, are you okay? Is there a way to heal you too? Maybe the Golden Tablet can help again? And what was with that leaf earlier?"
Ethan asked, overwhelmed, speaking all his questions at once as he placed the baby near her and gently wiped the blood from her face. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Elena was far too exhausted to speak, so she answered through [Telepathy], her voice faint but steady.
"My wound will heal on its own... but I might sleep longer than expected."
Since she had forced herself awake in the middle of her awakening, there would definitely be consequences. So she warned him carefully.
"Protect the babies for a while," she paused, gathering her strength to continue.
"I used a function in the Golden Tablet to heal the baby. I’ll explain everything once I wake up... but the leaf—I don’t think it came from the Golden Tablet. I think... the baby created it himself. He already has an ability. It’s just..."
She was hesitant, for she struggled to understand it herself.
At the lowest tier, a plant ability user could only sense nearby plants and flowers.
They shouldn’t be able to create or manipulate plants fully—not without climbing through many tiers.
But her newborn son had produced a complete, living plant that aided him in his healing.
That was completely outside everything she understood about abilities from her past life.
"We need to study it first," she sighed softly. "But maybe... he’s a plant-type user."
Despite her confusion, joy shone in her eyes. The [Restoration] had succeeded without harming the Golden Tablet’s core.
The spiritual items they had collected inside the space had been enough—but it had consumed every last one of them.
And it was worth it. Now, they urgently needed new spiritual resources.
Still, she wasn’t worried. Cores would soon be available from mutated living things—far more valuable than antiques or jade.
And she would trade them using the resources from her space, marking the new currency of this era.
"He’s probably a genius, being able to awaken even though he’s just a baby," Ethan laughed, proudly praising their third son.
Then he looked at Elena again, worry clouding his eyes. "Wife, are you really okay?"
"Tired, but doing fine. I’m relieved the babies were born safely."
Ethan gently caressed her face and leaned forward, wanting to kiss her forehead.
But Elena shook her head—she was sweating, covered in traces of blood, and felt she didn’t smell good.
Ethan didn’t care; he simply gazed at her lovingly.
"We have triplets now," he whispered. "Thank you for your hard work, wife."
Elena rolled her eyes, slightly annoyed. They were her babies—of course, she would do everything to protect them.
Ethan then shifted to serious matters, knowing she needed to continue her awakening soon.
"Wife, the Golden Tablet isolates you whenever it senses you’re being threatened. When that happens, no one can enter its invisible shield."
He then explained the short version of how the third baby had suffocated during the process.
Elena finally understood, and guilt tightened her chest as she looked at her youngest son, who was sucking on his tiny lips unconsciously.
She felt deeply sorry for him and sighed.
"I’m sorry. The Golden Tablet was designed to keep its master safe above all else."
"I know," Ethan replied gently. "Is there a way to bypass it so this won’t happen again?"
"I’ll create a rule in the [Rule]Tab section to mark you as a non-threat to me."
Without hesitation, she summoned the Golden Tablet and created a new rule—one that allowed Ethan to be someone the Golden Tablet could trust completely.
"Done," she murmured weakly.
"Husband, I can’t fight this drowsiness anymore. Take the baby into the space so he can sleep peacefully with his brothers. And one more thing—the antiques and jades might have been used already, so we need more. Plus..."
She had so many instructions, determined to make sure Ethan was prepared.
"Wife, I understand," Ethan replied gently. "Don’t worry. Please sleep well. The kids and I will wait for you."
This time, he silently vowed to protect and gather more spiritual items for Elena.
But their warm conversation was soon interrupted by a sudden knock on the door.
Ethan raised his brows—his team would never knock unless it were something urgent.
Mrs. Bennett paused what she was doing and moved to answer it, but Ethan gestured for her to stop. He took the responsibility himself.
The moment he opened the door, everyone was already gathered outside, waiting anxiously.
"Ethan, are Elena and the baby alright? Are they fine?" Grandpa Caldwell asked first, worry clear in his eyes.
He had been eager to meet the third child, but since Ethan wasn’t carrying the baby, he feared something had gone wrong.
"They’re both safe. No need to worry, Grandpa," Ethan answered, giving a simple explanation, knowing how tense the old man must be.
"Good... good," Grandpa Caldwell replied, letting out a relieved breath.
"Did anything happen?" Ethan asked.
"Jetro just informed us that the bright light earlier was seen all over Camel Tower—maybe even farther. And there’s a weird, vines started growing around the building, wrapping everything and isolating us."
Ethan quickly looked toward the windows, though nothing was visible from inside.
Still, his gut told him—the baby must have triggered the vines spreading around the building.
