[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 64: I Can’t Let Her Go!
Arcane suddenly picked up Luciana’s body and they hurriedly left the city park area and headed to the nearest police station. Julian was still confused. Why did his husband suddenly say to take the girl there?
When they arrived at the police station, Arcane approached the receptionist and made a report that they had found a small child.
"We found a little girl at the ice skating rink in the city park. We found her at around 10:07 p.m. She was alone and said she didn’t know where her parents had gone."
One of the police officers then approached the girl and began to question her. Luciana told him everything that had happened and where her parents had disappeared to. But she couldn’t remember their home address.
"Then tell me your last name. I’ll look it up and take you home," said the friendly police officer.
At first, Julian felt relieved that Luciana would be able to return to her family later. Although he was a little sad to part with her because they had spent almost an hour together, and it had been a happy moment for him.
However, before the police intended to contact Luciana’s parents to pick up their daughter, Arcane stopped them and added the information he had obtained. A suspicion from the red mark he saw through Luciana’s collar.
"I noticed some red marks on her neck. That’s why I brought her here and wanted the police to examine her body. It looks like there are more red marks covered by her thick clothes," he reported.
"What?!" The police officer was shocked and turned to Luciana. He slightly lowered the collar of the girl’s shirt and indeed saw a red mark around her neck.
He then called his female colleague, asking her to examine the little girl’s body. Luciana was terrified, she ran towards Julian and immediately hugged him.
"I don’t want to. I’m very scared," she said while crying.
"Hey, it’s okay. They’ll just examine you for a moment. They won’t hurt you. Arcane and I will wait here until you’re done being examined. I promise I’ll buy you bread if you dare to go with them," he said, kneeling and holding her hands.
He tried to hold back his own tears when he heard that Arcane had found red marks on her neck. Julian felt so angry and sad that the girl was a victim of abuse by her own parents.
And the worst part was that Arcane felt that Luciana had been deliberately abandoned in the city park by her parents. She had been taken there on purpose and photographed with Santa while her parents immediately left her behind.
"You promise you won’t leave?" she asked, holding up her pinky finger.
"Yes, I promise." Julian wrapped his finger around Luciana’s, promising not to leave until she was finished being questioned.
He also promised to buy her warm bread again, so she wouldn’t feel sad or scared. Finally, Luciana agreed and followed the policewoman to be questioned.
Arcane and Julian were asked to remain at the police station as witnesses and would also be asked for further information. If it turned out that Luciana’s parents had deliberately abandoned her, they would be immediately arrested and charged with child neglect and abuse.
The two of them sat waiting for the results of Luciana’s examination.
"I never thought we would meet a girl who was abandoned by her own parents! What were they thinking to do such a thing to her?!" Julian looked so angry and emotional when he found out about this.
Arcane tried to calm him down, saying that emotions wouldn’t solve anything. Besides, this wasn’t the place for them to make decisions because they weren’t Luciana’s family.
"If that’s really the case, they’ll be jailed soon for what they’ve done." Arcane said that to calm him down.
"Then what about her fate? What will happen to Luciana after this?"
"There are only two possibilities. She will be taken care of by her parents’ family or she will be placed in an orphanage. The first possibility is more likely, but we don’t know whether they will treat her well or not," replied Arcane.
This made Julian even more worried about Luciana’s fate after this. Even though they had only been together for an hour, he already loved the girl like his own daughter.
She was so active and had a similar personality to him. Because of that, Julian felt like he had a bond with her.
However, Arcane reminded him that Julian couldn’t get his hopes up too high. If Luciana ended up with her parents’ family, they wouldn’t be able to see her again. But even if she was placed in an orphanage, someone would surely adopt her.
"Don’t tell me we can’t do it."
"We can adopt her. But it will take a very long and complicated process," replied Arcane firmly, indicating that it would not be easy for them to obtain custody of Luciana.
After 15 minutes had passed, Luciana finally returned with the female police officer. The little girl ran straight into Julian’s arms, as if he were the only lifeline she had at that moment.
The female police officer then whispered to her partner, who had previously instructed her to examine Luciana’s body. The results were positive, her body was covered in numerous bruises, some of which she couldn’t even describe for fear of shocking them.
"So that’s how it is. She was indeed a victim of her own parents, and now she has been deliberately left in the park. Alright, then issue a search and arrest warrant for both of her parents," said the police officer, as they already had strong evidence in the form of the bruises on Luciana’s body.
He then turned to Arcane and Julian, seeing how Luciana continued to cling to Julian.
"Well then, thank you for bringing her here and reporting your findings. Now she has to stay at the police station for further processing, and you two can go home," he said.
However, Luciana refused to let go of Julian because she was afraid of being alone there. The green haired man couldn’t just let her go either, even though he trusted the police, he was worried that the child would fall into the hands of her parents’ family, who could be just as bad as them.
"No! Don’t go, Julian! Sniff sniff... Please don’t go! I’m scared here alone. I don’t want you to go!" she cried, hugging his waist tightly.
His heart broke seeing her crying like that in his arms. Finally, he made a decision.
"I can’t. I’m going to stay here with her. I can’t leave her alone!"
"Julian, we have no right to stay here and keep her. Legally, we are just strangers who found this girl, we can’t—"
Before Arcane could finish speaking, Julian cut him off more firmly.
"I don’t want to leave her in this situation. She’s scared and she needs me."
