Blood Nemesis-Chapter 165: Twisting Truth 1
Chapter 165: Twisting Truth 1
A couple of minutes later, after making the phone call with the military communication device Oliver bought from the black market, an aircraft blitzed through the air and hovered above him.
The island was an isolated patch of land with few trees.
Alighting the flying ship, Achara greeted Oliver who was grilling a fish nearby.
Oliver just nodded and went back to grilling the fish.
Achara sighed.
"Now, explain." She requested and sat near him, on a wooden log. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
She was going to ask her friends for a favour and pick up Oliver from Titanfall. But none were available, so she had to make a personal trip.
"You came quicker than I expected," Oliver muttered while spreading a spicy paste over the fish.
"Can we wait until it’s done?" He asked.
It had only been a few minutes since he called Achara and yet, she was already here.
Oliver glanced at the aircraft she used.
It was an advanced jet capable of flying at a sustained speed of Mach 5.
’No wonder.’
’She came here on Skylance.’
’It’s a monster that eats fuel rods.’
Oliver’s eyes lingered over the fifty-foot-wide jet hovering nearby.
’Some day I am going to buy one.’ He silently said.
Skylance was designed and manufactured by Trinity Tech while working closely with the military.
This exact version was not for sale. But with enough money, a lesser variant could be bought.
Oliver’s hand moved over the three-foot-long fish he was grilling over the campfire again. This time, he poured some oil and used a brush to spread the oil all over the fish.
The heat from the flames touched the oil, making it bubble and sizzle.
The fish was almost done.
Oliver was famished after reviving. He wanted to eat something before they continued their long conversation.
"You don’t look injured. Did you really meet an S-ranked demon?" Achara asked.
"Of Course I did."
Oliver answered, not taking his eyes off the fish.
The fish was a red snapper variant that was seen on Lake Infinity.
They are known to hide between the rocks and were extremely hard to catch.
But Oliver seemed to have caught one and was grilling it as if he was on a picnic. Achara couldn’t believe this was the same person who was said to have encountered an S-rank demon.
"Are you sure it was an S-rank demon?" She inquired.
"As sure as anyone can be. The host monster was fifty meters tall and looked like a cross between a bat and a gorilla. The skin was dark blue and glistened in the sunlight. The webbings on the palm of the beast confirm it is an aquatic monster, possibly amphibious."
Oliver gave a detailed description of the monster, his lips curling up into a smile, watching the oil seep into the meat of the fish.
"Fifty meters..." Achara was not really shocked. There were many beasts that were bigger than that. "Size alone can’t determine the rank." She added.
"The aura of the beast was greater than that of the five cerulean cobras we came across."
"Fine, let’s believe it is an S-ranked demon. How did you cross its path?"
"Good question." Finally, Oliver was interested.
As usual, he wants to make the best use of the situation. That meant twisting the truth in his favour to achieve what he wanted.
In this case, he decided to make Achara aware of the demons’ plans that were not entirely related to his situation.
The S-ranked demon had chased the Void Weaver and that led to him being entangled with it.
However, he can’t talk about that.
Revealing that secret was basically giving up his advantage.
So, he had to use the next best thing to explain the situation.
Fortunately, he had the best scapegoat—Lin Yue.
Pinning all the troublesome stuff on her would make it easier to explain the situation while taking away all the doubts Achara might have.
With that thought, he decided to act on it.
"I have some speculation... Do you want to hear it?"
"Speculations?" Achara raised her brows.
"Yes."
Oliver suddenly stood up and wrapped his hand in mana.
Then he extended it and grabbed the fish directly out of the flame.
Because of the mana, he didn’t feel the heat at all.
After picking it up carefully, he placed it on a large leaf.
"Oh! It’s done."
The steam rose into the air as the aroma of grilled fish spread.
Even Achara, who was initially disinterested in it, felt saliva flood her mouth.
Due to years of isolation, Oliver had become a great cook. He always carried spices in his backpack.
This time, even when he was preparing for revival, he didn’t forget to include the spices in his kit.
"Would you like some?" He asked, looking at Achara.
"...."
"There is more than enough for us."
Oliver saw Achara’s hesitation and cut the fish.
He took the larger portion, about two-thirds, which included the head of the fish and handed the tail portion to Achara.
Although Oliver was generous, he was still not generous enough to share the tastiest portion near the head and belly of the fish.
Achara saw it but didn’t say anything.
She took the portion given and used her mana like a fork to pull out pieces.
Oliver on the other hand did not have the mana control required to perform such delicate action.
He grabbed it by his hand and put it in his mouth.
The supple sweetness of the meat and spicy flavour danced on his tongue as he chewed the meat.
The delicate fish meat was tasty and filling.
Oliver relaxed a little.
Similarly, Achara also ate the fish in glee.
For a moment, both of them forgot what they were talking about.
Finally, after eating a large portion, Oliver returned to the topic.
"I think the demons are targeting specific individuals."
He said, avoiding mentioning anything about the little Koi.
Achara lifted her eyes and glanced at him.
"We know that."
Demon targeting individuals that stand in their way was old news.
Oliver smiled.
"Do you really?" He revealed his sly smile.
He exuded a confidence that made Achara question herself.
"I met the people from Lin Clan when we were training on Crab Island." He added to induce curiosity.
"Lin Clan?"
As expected, Achara took the bait.
