Chapter 167: Money

The Skylance pierced the sky and left the isolated island carrying Oliver and Achara.

It took them less than an hour to return to Dragon City.

By the time they landed on the military hanger, they saw Root waiting for them.

Oliver casually walked out of the Skylance and went towards Root.

"Boss, you are alive!" Root said with a smile.

Oliver rolled his eyes, "Of course I am. As I said, nothing in this world can kill me."

"You escaped alive from the clutches of an S-ranked demon. I might have to agree with that."

Root didn’t probe further into the exact situation. He let it be and decided to trust Oliver.

Something that can save a person from an S-ranked enemy is better kept a secret.

"Hm..."Oliver nodded and asked shortly afterwards, "Where is the little fishy?"

"Little Koi is okay, it is recovering fine. I left him inside the ’car’."

"You left it alone with the dragon meat? The glutton will empty it..."

"What are you talking about?" Suddenly, Achara interjected.

Her appearance caused Oliver and Root to look at each other.

As if they understood each other, they nodded and simultaneously said,

"Nothing."

"Nothing."

*Sigh*

Achara didn’t like being kept in the dark. She knew there was a lot Oliver was hiding from her.

But there was no point in forcing him to share it.

From her experience, Oliver was the last person she wanted to make an enemy.

And besides all that, can they even force him to share information?

Oliver was extremely durable, strong and resistant to pain. Torture techniques wouldn’t work on him.

And now, supposedly capable of escaping from an S-rank enemy.

Was there something in their arsenal that could stop him?

Achara was not sure whether even the Thunder Emperor could stop.

’In a few months, he had grown beyond us...’ She thought silently as her eyes lingered over Oliver’s back.

’Was his talent grade really D?’

’No way. He must have used some method to deceive the examiners.’

’That must be it.’

She hid her thoughts and brought Oliver and Root to a conference room inside a nearby building.

Within, they saw the Thunder Emperor, Sathyamoorthi and a dozen lawyers.

The lawyers were immersed in some kind of documents while Sathyamoorthi and the Thunder Emperor drank tea.

"Good afternoon, everyone." Oliver, looking utterly dishevelled, as if he’d just emerged from a cave, strolled nonchalantly into the room and greeted them.

Most were visibly startled by his wild appearance.

"Oliver, you’re back." The Thunder Emperor raised his teacup. "How was your training trip?"

Achara had already informed him of Oliver’s situation, but they agreed not to discuss it now, not with so many watchful eyes.

Oliver understood the unspoken signal.

He ran a hand through his messy hair.

"It was great. Almost felt like a nice vacation." His gaze briefly swept over the lawyers poring over their papers. "How about you? Is everything proceeding as planned?"

"It’s going fine," the Thunder Emperor replied, leaning back in his chair. The terms had been decided long ago; there was little left to add.

Sathyamoorthi nodded from the side. "If all goes as planned, the first network routing servers will be deployed this week."

"Did you discuss anything about the most important part of our collaboration?" Oliver asked.

His question was directed at both Thunder Emperor and Sathyamoorthi.

"Money?" Thunder Emperor raised a brow.

Sathyamoorthi smiled.

"Yes." Oliver smiled brightly like a thousand-watt bulb.

Once the contract was signed, he would become rich. If they can show the viability of the technology, he would become ultra-rich within a few months.

One of the reasons for helping Sathyamoorthi was this infinite money glitch.

With money in hand, many things he couldn’t do would be possible. Most importantly, he could strangle the demons with the money.

Oliver’s smile widened.

For all that to happen, he needs to monetise the technology they have in their hand.

The military was one of the customers he planned to acquire. The rest will swarm to them on their own when the military contract is finalised.

"One-time lump sum payment of a hundred million in addition to a ten million monthly payment for 4G communication connecting the outside of the gate to the inside. That was the final agreement we made."

Thunder Emperor turned to look at Sathyamoorthi.

Sathyamoorthi nodded.

The money was more than enough to set up the systems and still have a hefty profit. He was satisfied with the amount.

Oliver, on the other hand, didn’t feel like it was enough. So to avoid any misunderstandings, he asked.

"This is just for the military communication network, right? The military is not going to share the network with the residents of the city..." His words trailed off at the end.

Thunder Emperor nodded.

"Yes, that is correct. The network is for military use only and will not be used for a secondary purpose."

"That’s good."

Oliver was also relieved.

Separating the military and public networks would mean that he would receive other opportunities to make money—a lot of money.

Currently, there was no way to access the live internet from Second Earth.

No one could call home as they wished, nor could they send videos and images instantly.

If they wished to take out images and video files from Second Earth, they would have to store them in shielded hard drives and physically move them through the gate.

It was difficult and inconvenient.

For those who grew up in a connected world, this process was cumbersome.

Hence, the very important industry of live streaming does not exist within Second Earth.

If Oliver played his cards right, there would be a lot of businesses paying a hefty amount to provide their service to Second Earth.

Just thinking about it made Oliver shiver in excitement.

’Soon, I would be wealthy enough to build pyramids with money.’

Communication was the basis of any civilisation.

The reason humanity failed to explore and build more cities on Second Earth was due to the lack of a communication system that suited their need.

With their technology, it was all about to change.

"Where are you planning to create the server farms?" Oliver asked.

Sathyamoorthi answered, "Near the military camp. Because of the sensitivity of the information being transmitted, the military agreed to take care of the security."

"Hm..." Oliver nodded.

He had no problem with that.

"There are fifty-six cities in the federation. Four of them have permanent gates. We need to deploy our communication system in all four cities first. That is four hundred and forty million creds. Did you reserve the routers and servers needed?"

"Not yet. We plan to test it on Dragon City first before deploying it on other cities."

Sathyamoorthi had a plan for everything. Oliver didn’t have to be involved in it.

With his forty per cent share in the company, he just has to wait and get paid.

"We can talk about expanding the network at a later time, then..."

Oliver was about to leave the conference room when someone suddenly pushed open the door. freēnovelkiss.com

He felt a wave of air rush past him.

*THUCK*

The door slammed against one side.

Oliver frowned and turned around.

Like him, everyone else also turned to look at the door.

There, they saw a pot-bellied, bald man in a military uniform. He swaggered into the conference room with two aids on either side, wearing a smug grin.

’Who the fuck is this?’

Oliver searched his memory.

The man was old and was wearing the insignia of a general. He must have been someone in the highest echelon of the army.

Why did a general suddenly intrude on their meeting?

Why was he looking so smug?

Just from his expression, Oliver knew this person came bearing bad news. He frowned as they strolled past him towards Thunder Emperor.

"What do we have here?" The general walked to Thunder Emperor, rubbing his fat belly and asked.

"Park Sanghyun? Why did you come here?"

Thunder Emperor glanced over and asked.

"You remember me. The Great Thunder Emperor remembers me... Ha ha ha..." The old man laughed.

Like everyone else in the military in Dragon City, he didn’t bow in respect when he saw Thunder Emperor.

In fact, his voice contained a hint of mockery.

"I asked you a question."

The frown on Thunder Emperor’s brows deepened.

The general, Park Sanghyun, scoffed. "Why should I answer to you?" He took an envelope from his jacket pocket and shoved it to Thunder Emperor’s side. "Read it carefully, Burkhard. It seems like you finally did something that angered the higher-ups."

The lips of Thunder Emperor curled up slightly, "Did I?" He asked and opened the envelope.

Park Sanghyun was one of the old heroes. But they never had a good relationship.

Truth be told, Park Sanghyun hated him.

And the reason was unknown.

Perhaps it was just jealousy.

Anyway, Thunder Emperor didn’t care about the small-minded person at all. He carefully opened the folded letter and began to read it.

Meanwhile, Oliver glanced over from the side, carefully examining the rest of the people who came with the general.
