Cold War between Mr. and Mrs Vaughn: He Regretted when Divorce-Chapter 139: Resolving Issues with Her Family
Victoria Sinclair got up from Eugene Vaughn, sat upright, and lowered her head in deep thought.
Eugene Vaughn held her hand, placed it on his thigh, and gently massaged it with both hands, "You can completely trust me."
Victoria Sinclair took a deep breath, "There’s something I’ve never been able to solve, and I don’t know what to do. Angela Austin doesn’t have any solutions either, so she suggested I try reaching out to you. Maybe you can help me."
Eugene Vaughn leaned in closer, "What is it?"
Victoria looked sideways at him, and in their gaze, she saw the warmth in Eugene’s eyes, giving her an invisible sense of security.
"I invested two hundred million into my career. When my parents found out I had so much money, they kept pestering me to give half to my brother, even making a scene at my workplace."
Eugene’s face darkened, and in a serious tone, he asked, "Haven’t you given them enough?"
Victoria sighed gently, "Their thinking is stubborn and corrupted; it’s hard to communicate with them. They believe that since I’m their daughter, the money I earn should belong to them, and they think I owe them and my brother my entire life."
Eugene chuckled faintly, reached out to ruffle her hair, "In the future, whenever you’re troubled, you should first tell me, and I’ll solve it for you."
Victoria was surprised, "You have a solution?"
"Isn’t this kind of trivial matter quite simple?"
Victoria looked at him in shock.
Trivial? Simple?
She was almost driven crazy, unable to think of a solution, yet for Eugene, it was actually very simple?
Victoria felt slightly nervous, "You wouldn’t actually find someone to beat up my parents, would you?"
Eugene laughed softly, hugged her shoulders, and gently pulled her into his embrace, leaning back to rest on the sofa.
Victoria lay on his chest, inhaling his fresh scent, feeling the rise and fall of his chest, and experiencing his warmth.
A gentle voice came from above her head, "Leave this to me, I’ll resolve it by tomorrow, and they’ll never ask you for money again."
"Tomorrow?" Victoria looked up, "What exactly is your plan?"
Eugene lowered his head, whispering softly in her ear.
His warm breath tickled her ear, making her body tingle with numbness and weakness.
After hearing his plan, Victoria couldn’t help but laugh.
Businessmen are indeed different; their minds are much more nimble than hers.
"I understand now." Victoria nodded happily, rising from his embrace.
Eugene wrapped his arm around her waist, his gaze warm, and his Adam’s apple moved, his voice low and smooth, "Victoria, since I helped you with a strategy, shouldn’t you reward me?"
"What kind of reward?" Victoria asked with a serious face. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Give me a kiss."
Victoria gave him a quick, light kiss on the lips.
Just as Eugene was about to respond, she moved away.
He frowned, unsatisfied, "That doesn’t count."
Victoria laughed softly, "How does it not count?"
Eugene hooked the back of her head, pulling her closer.
Victoria was kissed to the point of breathlessness.
Eugene murmured against her, drunk without wine, his warm breath gliding over her neck, making her entire body tense.
"Victoria, can I join you in bed?"
Her eyelashes trembled lightly, "What do you want to do?"
Yet she heard a chuckle from him, "I won’t do anything, I just don’t want to sleep on the floor anymore."
Victoria’s heart softened, not wanting him to sleep on the floor again.
"Really, nothing at all?" Victoria was skeptical.
She was still in the early stages of pregnancy, and the fetus was not yet stable.
Eugene chuckled, "Can I just hold you as I sleep?"
Victoria pressed her lips together, thought for a moment, then nodded.
Eugene immediately got up, carrying her horizontally.
Victoria, flustered, clung to his shoulders, "Sleeping now?"
"It’s already very late." Eugene moved lightly, carrying her into the room, gently placing her on the bed, and covering her with a blanket.
Victoria shifted her position, and Eugene lay down as well, slipping his arm under her neck, pulling her tightly into his arms.
The bed was warm, his body hot, and his fresh scent exceptionally clear.
Eugene placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, "Victoria, I want to..."
Victoria, feeling nervous, immediately interrupted, "Don’t think about it, I’m really tired."
Eugene laughed softly, hesitated, then moved his lower body further away, ensuring he wouldn’t touch her, lest he lose control.
His arm was strong, holding her tightly, very tightly.
After becoming pregnant, she tired easily, and soon fell asleep in Eugene’s arms.
——
The next evening.
Victoria waited in her office after work, anticipating a phone call.
Hoping Eugene’s clever plan would work.
Suddenly, the phone rang.
Victoria quickly answered, putting it to her ear.
Her mother’s angry voice came through, "Victoria Sinclair, you little spendthrift, get over here right now. Just how much debt have you racked up? Why are so many people coming to collect from you?"
Victoria: "Mom, where is the address? I’m coming over now."
Her mother shouted out Renee’s villa address.
Victoria grabbed her bag and ran out, taking a taxi there.
Half an hour later.
Victoria arrived at Renee’s house.
The stand-alone small villa halfway up the hill, though remote, had quite a nice view.
Entering the living room, five or six men, fierce-looking, rushed towards Victoria as soon as they saw her.
Victoria, intimidated by their presence, took a step back.
"Victoria Sinclair, pay your debts."
"Pay your debts..."
The group’s emotions were intense and angry, but they only shouted and did not approach her.
If Eugene hadn’t warned her in advance, she really would have been frightened by their presence.
"Sister, how did you accumulate so much debt?" Timothy Sinclair asked, full of anxiety, walking nervously up to Victoria.
Renee stood with arms crossed, watching the scene with amusement, not believing the debt was real at all.
Her parents were utterly distraught and furious beyond measure.
The creditor said, "Victoria Sinclair, you’ve owed us so much money and taken so much of our goods; it’s been two years, when will you pay us back?"
"Yeah, when will you pay?"
Renee sneered, and asked displeased, "Just now, I helped you calculate, and it’s roughly 350 million in debt. Your old small company couldn’t have spent 350 million, right?"
Her mother was furious, almost in tears, stomping her foot, "How could you owe that much money?"
Victoria took a deep breath, "The money was all invested into research."
Her mother, exasperated, slapped her own thigh, "Are you crazy? Over three hundred million, where will you get such money to pay back?"
The creditor said, "I think this villa is nice, let’s use it to offset the debt."
Renee panicked, "This isn’t Victoria’s villa, you can’t mess around."
Her mother agreed, "Yeah! This villa has nothing to do with Victoria, if you want the debt, ask her, not us."
Her father, enraged, "There’s no money to give, I’ll give you my life. If you don’t leave, I’ll call the police."
The creditor was firm: "You are Victoria Sinclair’s parents and siblings. You have an obligation to help her repay the debt."
Renee was annoyed: "Why should we?"
"Because you’re her sister."
"Hmph."
The creditor’s face turned dark, pointing at Mrs. Sinclair, "You are her parents, you have an obligation to help her repay the debt."
Mrs. Sinclair panicked, "Why... why should we? She’s an adult now, she’s got nothing to do with us."
The creditors chattered: "I don’t care about that, you are her family, and you must help her pay her debts."
"Yeah, or I’ll sue her and let her go to jail."
"She’s pretty..." The creditor reached to touch Victoria Sinclair’s cheek.
Timothy Sinclair pushed the person away and protected Victoria in front of him, angrily shouting, "Just try to touch her, and I’ll fight you to the death."
The creditor: "Paying debts is right and proper."
Timothy Sinclair’s chest heaved as he shouted: "I’ll pay, I’ll earn money slowly to pay it back."
"It’ll take you lifetimes to pay it off..."
Mrs. Sinclair sat on the ground, wailing.
Renee increasingly felt something was wrong, turned and called Vivian Miller with her phone.
In the whole scene, Victoria Sinclair was the calmest.
The debt collection storm only ended after Victoria’s father called the police and the creditors left.
Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair were nearly about to cut ties with Victoria Sinclair.
Yet they couldn’t bear to lose her monthly household subsidy, so they cursed her for ruining Timothy Sinclair’s marriage.
Victoria Sinclair only then realized, this tactic kills two birds with one stone.
Sarah Lowell’s marriage plans with her brother probably couldn’t proceed either.
Leaving the villa, Victoria Sinclair felt relieved.
In the future, her parents wouldn’t have the nerve to ask her for money again, right?
Even if they wanted money, she could ask her parents or brother for help to pay the debts.
Standing under the sunset, Victoria Sinclair felt even the air become fresher.
As she pulled out her phone to order a car, a familiar luxury car pulled up in front of her.
The car window slid down, Eugene Vaughn was in a suit and tie, his handsome face smiling with his elbow resting by the window, looking at her, "Victoria, was it smooth?"
Victoria Sinclair nodded happily, "Yes, very smooth."
"Let’s go home."
"Okay." Victoria Sinclair circled around the car front, got into the passenger seat and fastened her seat belt.
Eugene started the car and left, "There’s snacks in the box, eat something if you’re hungry."
"Not hungry." Victoria Sinclair was worried, "Do you think they’ll believe it?"
"Whether they believe it or not, as long as you say the debt exists, it exists."
Victoria Sinclair turned to look at his handsome profile, softly whispering, "Eugene, thank you."
The way she called him ’Eugene’ was intimate and gentle, and a slight smile appeared on Eugene Vaughn’s lips as he glanced at her, his eyes curving with a smile, "With our relationship, there’s no need to say thank you."
Victoria Sinclair smiled knowingly, "Alright."
Eugene held the steering wheel with one hand while the other hand reached over, holding onto her hand placed on her thigh, an invisible force conveyed through the warmth of his palm.
Victoria Sinclair felt a warm sweetness in her heart.
"Drive carefully." Victoria Sinclair pushed his hand away.
Eugene focused on driving, gently asked, "Home to eat, or think of eating out?"
"Right now, I really want to have spicy hot pot." Victoria Sinclair’s eyes were full of expectation.
Eugene couldn’t help but chuckle, "You’ve had a strange taste lately."
"You don’t want to eat it?"
"As long as you want to eat it, I’ll eat it with you."
Victoria Sinclair bit her lip, unable to suppress the smile at the corners of her mouth.
After having spicy hot pot, they returned to the apartment by eight in the evening.
Once inside, Victoria Sinclair lay limp on the sofa, unwilling to move.
Eugene made her chrysanthemum tea and sliced her favorite mango, sitting on the sofa.
He pulled the collapsed Victoria Sinclair into his arms, gently kissed her cheek, "Victoria, let’s live at home, okay?"
"Home?" Victoria Sinclair was a bit dazed.
Eugene gazed at her beautiful flushed face, his fingertips gently lifted her stray hair behind her ear, "Yes, home, the house we’ve shared for two years as our marital home."
Victoria Sinclair hesitated, her expression heavy, "Going back to live, your dad will know."
Eugene was puzzled: "This is a matter between you and me, what’s it got to do with him?"
"He..." Victoria Sinclair struggled with whether to tell him.
If she didn’t tell him, she would just bear the danger directly.
If she told him, it might ruin the father-son relationship between him and his father.
Eugene: "Victoria, if you’re worried about the matter of taking his 200 million, I can return that money to him."
"It’s not about the money." Victoria Sinclair wasn’t worried about that money, after all, they had notarized it with a lawyer at the time as compensation for economic loss.
It was compensation for accidentally killing the virus monkey.
"Then what is it?"
Victoria Sinclair said in a compromising manner: "He doesn’t want us to be together, he’ll interfere and use means to separate us."
Eugene smiled faintly, holding her body tightly, "In this world, except for death and you, no one can separate us."
Victoria Sinclair was conflicted, gazing up at him, her heart weighed down.
She no longer doubted Eugene’s sincerity towards her.
But in this world, sincerity alone isn’t enough to be together without worries.
She feared getting hurt.
Victoria Sinclair anxiously asked, "You and Vivian Miller, what exactly is your relationship now?"
Eugene seriously pondered for several seconds, "Vivian and I have known each other for over twenty years, played together since we were kids, and our bond is indeed deep, but from beginning to end, I’ve only ever seen her as a sister and a good friend. Because of you, I’m willing to cut her off and not associate with her, but these twenty-plus years of friendship can’t just be cut off cleanly, since our families have been friends for generations."
"I understand..." Victoria Sinclair understood him, "Then your engagement, it really doesn’t count?"
Eugene ruffled her hair, "Of course it doesn’t count."
"Okay, I..." Victoria Sinclair was about to agree to go home with him when her words were interrupted by the ringing of a phone.
Eugene released her, pulling out his phone from his pocket.
Victoria Sinclair sat upright, watching him answer the call.
Eugene glanced at the caller ID, his face darkened slightly, and his tone wasn’t very good: "What is it?"
Victoria Sinclair couldn’t tell who called him.
She only saw his face grow increasingly grim.
"Okay, I’ll be right back." Eugene said, his expression serious, hurriedly ending the call, "Victoria, I have an urgent matter and need to go out, you sleep on your own tonight, don’t wait up for me."
Victoria Sinclair nervously held onto his fingers, a bad premonition rising in her heart.
"What happened?"
Eugene held her face in his hands, affectionately kissing her forehead, "It’s nothing, don’t overthink it, go to bed early, I’ll be back as soon as I’m done."
With those words, Eugene hurriedly left the house.
Victoria Sinclair’s mood grew gloomier and more stifling.
Something urgent he can’t tell her about is surely about Vivian Miller again.
