Courting Death System-Chapter 29: Old Beggar
"Now that the Apocalypse Shop has officially launched, just wait patiently for the customers to come. Have a nice da..." Jeff was about to teleport away when he noticed Lucius hiding behind Old Yezi.
"You! Come here." said Jeff while pointing at Lucius. Old Yezi pointed at himself because he thought that Jeff was talking to him.
"Me?" asked Old Yezi.
"No, the black kid behind you." answered Jeff. Old Yezi turned around and saw his disciple hiding behind him.
"Oh, you mean my disciple. What are you doing, Boss is calling you, quickly go to him." said Old Yezi.
"I-I don’t want to go." whispered Lucius.
"Why?"
"That guy looks scary. I’m not comfortable around him. Master, please don’t forc..." Lucius suddenly disappeared and reappeared before Jeff.
"Oh, so he is your disciple, what a talented young man. Don’t worry, I’m not gonna hurt him. I actually have a life changing opportunity for him, since he’s the weakest one here, I want him to check out a planet that I’ve recently discovered and he meets all the requirements. Don’t worry, I won’t allow any harm to come to him and will bring him back as soon as he’s completed my task." said Jeff as he disappeared with Lucius before Old Yezi could even thank him.
...
Jeff and Lucius reappeared in Jeff’s office which Lucius found very interesting. All kinds of guns were placed on the walls, alcohol on the desk, a polar bear skin rug on the floor and a fire place.
"Wow, this place is beauti..."
BANG!
PLOP!
Lucius’s head exploded before he could finish his sentence, his brain scattered all over the place.
"Shoppy, where are my notifications?" asked Jeff who was now wiping his golden Colt 1911 gun. It was another item unique to him that the system gave him. A bullet fired from this gun could pierce through even the toughest armour in Lumen existence.
[Ding! No %%^^@@ Energy found inside this corpse so there aren’t any System Rewards.]
"Absolute trash! Wasted my bullet for nothing. Shoppy, clean my office and throw his body where no one can find it." said Jeff. Lucius and his brains then disappeared from the office and everything returned to what it looked like before the ’messy’ incident.
...
"Finally, we’ve made it to the Silver City, Ignis, aren’t you excited?!"
"Not really. What’s there to be excited about. This place is no different from where he came from."
Ignis and his master Mazal had just reached the Silver City. Mazal had never thought that one day he’d actually reach this place but fate worked in mysterious ways.
"Now Ignis, there’s stuff I have to warn you about, this place isn’t as simple as it looks. You see that old beggar over there, you might think that he’s an ordinary person but later find out that it’s actually a hidden expert so don’t look down on anyone in this place." said Mazal while pointing at the old man at the corner who was begging for some spare change.
Ignis nodded in agreement. He was now wearing new armour but this one showed signs of smelting but it couldn’t be helped. Ignis’s body was releasing terrifying heat that even armour forged from Ten Thousand Years Cold Iron couldn’t handle it. The two walked passed the old beggar while chatting about their own stuff.
The old beggar also minded his own business which was begging in the street but he stopped begging when the duo walked past him. He turned his head and looked at the two people, when his gaze landed on Ignis, his pupils constricted.
’How is this possible?!’ he exclaimed inwardly.
[Boys, come here.] said the old beggar.
Ignis and Mazal who were walking away suddenly stopped in the middle of the street.
"What’s happening? Why isn’t my body listening to me?!" exclaimed Mazal. Ignis was the same. Their bodies had simply stopped listening to them. The two then turned around and walked back to the old beggar whom they’d just passed. It wasn’t that they wanted to go back but their bodies walked back on their own. The two then carefully looked at the old beggar. He was dirty, big nose and a few teeth missing and the rest of his teeth were rotten and he emitted a strong sulphuric scent.
[Boy, do you mind telling me how you’re still alive with a Colour Flame inside your body. A Red Colour Flame to be exact.] asked the old beggar in an authoritative tone.
"Talent. It’s his Talent Your Grace." answered Mazal. He’d casually pointed at the old beggar and used him as an example, never did he expert for the old man to be a hidden expert for real.
[Talent you say?] said the old man as he stood up and touched Ignis’s forehead with his dirty index finger. A few seconds passed by and the old beggar exclaimed while falling on his ass.
BOOOM!!!
[How is this possible?! You... You... You’re using the Colour Flames to temper and strengthen your body?! How is it even possible to refine your own body using Colour Flames?!] asked the old beggar, not caring one bit about the city that was on the cusp of collapsing from his weight.
[Hahaha! Boy, are you interested in becoming my student?] asked the old beggar. Ignis didn’t respond but looked at Mazal.
[What? Why are you looking at him?]
"Your Grace, me and Ignis have actually signed a Guardian Knight Contract so that’s why he’s looking at me." explained Mazal.
[Boy, if it’s the contract you’re worried about then I can easily terminate...]
"NO! I MADE A PLEDGE AND I SHALL STICK TO IT TILL THE END! IF YOU WANT ME AS A DISCIPLE, YOU’RE GONNA HAVE TO ACCEPT MY MASTER TOO." roared Ignis. Mazal was shocked but also happy by Ignis’s words. The old beggar didn’t respond immediately but looked at Mazal carefully.
[Although he has reached the limits of his Talent and Potential, your connection is actually improving his Talent and Affinity for the Fire Element. Although he won’t be as monstrous as you, he’ll still reach great heights. Fine, I’ll take both of you as my disciples.]
The old beggar’s appearance began to change but not by much. The dirt on his face disappeared and his clothes also changed into new robes. A Flame Crown adorned his head. He went from a beggar to a king and after this transgression. The city was couldn’t handle his weight and exploded. Mind you, it wasn’t just the human city that got destroyed but the entire planet was completely obliterated.
After the planet exploded, space distorted then compressed in on itself, resulting in the formation of marble-like portals. Just then, an even more authoritative and powerful voice resounded in the empty space.
{Greetings to all Sentient Beings. This is a message from my Master to you. The Apocalypse Shop has officially opened its doors today. Portals leading to the Apocalypse Shop have been created by my Master. Whatever you want to buy, we sell it and whatever you want to sell, we buy it! All are welcome in the Apocalypse Shop!}
[Let’s go there. I think that place might just have what I need for you.] said the now majestic old beggar.
"By the way Master, how should we address you?" asked Mazal.
[In the Lumen World, I’m known as the Inferno King Kabaal!] when the old beggar announced his name, space shook and began to melt. Mazal and Ignis were shocked by this. Never had they seen space melt.
’Inferno King Kabaal...’
