Courting Death System-Chapter 84: Justin’s Nightmare

"LOWER THE CASKET!"

A large crowd of people wearing black dresses or suits watched as the casket was lowered. At the very front was Tony who was on his knees and screaming for his mother and he was still wearing the paper bag.

"Mother! Mother! Don’t leave me! Don’t leave me! Mother!"

"Tony, you have to be strong. Don’t give aunty more problems in her final place of rest." said Justin while grabbing Tony’s shoulder. The villagers also gave Tony words of comfort and encouragement before leaving one after the other.

"How was my acting skills?" asked Tony now that they had returned home.

"Award deserving, you should audition for a role in the Mage King’s play, you’ll definitely be recognised for your talent." answered Justin while drinking strong alcohol.

"I know right, maybe after we’ve taken over this world, I’ll consider being an actor. Now, the weather’s perfect to instill some fear in people’s hearts."

"You know what they say, there’s no better day to commit evil than when it’s raining. By the way, I’ve been having a nightmare recently and the creature in my dream is extraordinarily powerful. It’s very short, orange, one eye, two small horns and a massive mouth that spews lava."

"About time, you perverted bastard, I was wondering when you’d stop having wet dreams and finally dream about something useful!"

"Hey, don’t you dare look down on my wet dreams, they are the reason I’ve kept myself hidden for so long."

"Fine, I apologise. Anyway, do you have any people in mind that we should feed on?" asked Tony.

"Of course, at the funeral, I was checking for vulnerable targets and actually found quite a few. It’s the single mothers, they are more susceptible to being frightened at night, after all, not having a husband or man sleeping next to you isn’t reassuring of your safety." replied Tony.

"They are probably the ones who poisoned my mother to death, threatened by her beauty, they couldn’t handle the competition thus chose to kill her."

"Pretty much. Anyway, let’s begin, we still have a nightmare to catch. Not having wet dreams is messing with my mind."

SHWAAAAAAA

RUMBLE! CRACKLE!

An average looking lady with fair skin gazed at the ceiling under her covers. The crackling lightning would often illuminate her dark room.

Tswiii!

Suddenly, the sound of a door being sounded out and she heard it.

"Raff, is that you?!" she shouted but didn’t instantly receive a response. About a minute or so later, a deep voice responded.

"Mom, relax, I was just taking a piss outside. Go to sleep, it’s late."

"Okay, love you!" she said.

"Love you too!" he replied.

The woman then spent another twenty to thirty minutes awake before she became drowsy and fell asleep. Two hours later, she was woken up by the cold wind that was blowing directly at her face. When she opened her eyes, her windows were opened. She slowly got off bed and approached the windows but didn’t close them immediately but first looked outside for anything suspicious.

Unfortunately, it was dark and raining so she couldn’t see anything. Just as she was about to close the windows, lightning illuminated the place and she caught a glimpse of someone...

"Sara..." she muttered softly. Lightning pollinated the place again and this time, Sara, who was standing under the tall tree waved at her before darkness hid her again.

"That’s not possible... you’re dead... we saw your body being buried. You’re not real!" she muttered again.

The third time, lightning illuminated the place again but she didn’t see Sara and heaved a sigh of relief...

[WHY DID YOU KILL ME?!]

"AAAHGHHH!!!"

In another house, an average looking woman was taking a cold bath. Her name was Helen and she was the one who’d concocted the poison that ended Sara’s life. She hadn’t been sleeping well the past few days because Sara would appear in her dreams and torment her.

The cold bath she was taking was in hopes that she wouldn’t fall asleep. Her nightmares weren’t caused by Tony but by her guilt. She had her eyes closed and seemed to enjoy the cold water but then suddenly, someone came and pressed her down in an attempt to drown her. Helen struggled with all her strength and pulled through but when she looked around, there was no one and her face and neck were dry.

’Was I hallucinating just now?’ she thought. After this incident, she promptly got dressed and went to bed, not willing to take any chances. She opened the bathroom door and the hallway to her room was dark.

On the doorstep of the room, a dark and tall figure seemed to be standing there, watching her with glowing bluish white dots for eyes. Helen rubbed her hands and that shadowy figure disappeared. Since she lived alone, there was no one she could call to help lessen the fear she had. Without a choice, she slowly walked towards her room.

"Hello, is anyone there?" she asked but there wasn’t a response. While walking, there was a mirror on the wall and from the corners of her eyes, she saw a dark figure with thick black fur following her from behind, in synchrony with her every step.

"AAAGHHH!!!"

A few more houses also saw the "dark figure" and screamed in fear, waking up everyone in the house and for those who lived alone, they fainted from the immense fear.

...

"The feeling of getting stronger really is intoxicating. Poor villagers, they don’t know that this is just the beginning. Justin, are you asleep yet, let’s quickly get this over with, I’m done playing with the targets." said Tony.

"I can’t just fall asleep whenever I want to like you, these things take time and don’t tell me about sleeping medicine, that stuff doesn’t make me dream so you’ll just have to be patient."

"Fine, I’ll go and make myself something to eat while I wait. Also, before I forget, my mother’s lawyer is coming tomorrow so look out for her so I can prepare adequately."

"Sure, no problem."

[This doesn’t look like a wet dream. Hopefully, he has the same nightmare otherwise I would have stayed up late for no reason.] said Tony in a hoarse voice of the Wendigo that he possessed.

Justin had fallen asleep three hours later which annoyed Tony greatly and now that he’d finally entered the dream, he leisurely took a walk, not caring whether Justin had encountered the nightmare or not. After a while, the screams of Justin sounded out and they were blood curdling.

"It burns! It hurts! Let me out! Let me out! Aaaghh!!!" screamed Justin.

Tony then followed the screams all the way to the source where Justin was inside the nightmare’s mouth and was being burned alive. The Nightmare Creature was as he’d described it but a bit more scary and intimidating. When Tony appeared, the monster froze for a few seconds before throwing fireballs at him.

Tony easily dodged the attacks and slowly approached it. The nightmare panicked and slammed its thick arms on the ground, causing the ground to crack and lava spewed out but against Tony, this attack was nothing. With a wave of his claw, the ground was frozen solid.

The nightmare panicked even more, spat out Justin and roared loudly like an erupting volcano, like ocean waves.

Then something absolutely spectacular occurred. The dark sky glowed brightly, not because the Sun had suddenly risen but because this orange nightmare had actually summoned a meteor, an enormous one at that.

’Holy Shit! Justin got himself a powerful nightmare!’ he thought in shock and excitement. Yes, he was also excited, not for Justin but for himself. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

[Great, now I can finally test how powerful a Forbidden Spell actually is. I don’t even know how father, an ordinary Mage obtained a Forbidden Spell of an element he had no affinity with, anyway, let me test it out.]

A burst of cold energy was released from the Wendigo’s body and spread out in all directions, freezing everything in its path, Justin was frozen, the nightmare was frozen and the meteor in the sky was also frozen, the Dream World was frozen.
