Courting Death System-Chapter 86: Who Are You?

Rus devoured the massive rat in relish and finished eating it in just fifteen minutes, not even bones remained. He even licked clean the blood on the floor, leaving the floor spotless of any blood stains. Cedric was frozen in shock the whole time, not believing that the bite force of the Ancient Human Species was so strong.

After he finished eating, Rus burped in satisfaction and sat down lazily on the chair.

"Now, what did you want to talk about?"

"H-How did you survive on that barren, that was the deal we made." said Cedric.

"Oh, that. It’s very simple actually, I reduced both my heart rate and metabolism, saving most of my energy and then I’d sleep for a few years and wake up just to drink some water then go back to sleep. Plus, the high oxygen concentration on that planet ensured that even though I had enough oxygen in my body." explained Rus.

"And how did you end up on that planet?"

"Beats me. When I woke up, I was already there. I managed to find some bones that I ate as snacks, other than that, there wasn’t anything else edible on that planet. Anything else you want to ask?"

"How strong are you? I mean, how were you able to chew through the Space Rat’s bones which are harder than steel while your body is also in a weakened state?"

"You said it yourself, I was once an apex predator." answered Rus.

"What does that mean?"

"You ask too many questions. Give me a different delicacy and I’ll answer more of your questions."

<Cedric, he’s already given us enough information, no need to waste precious food on him. Come back.> sounded the captain’s voice from the earpiece.

"Yes Sir."

Cedric then left the cell which instantly turned dark after he left and Rus closed his eyes and went to sleep. Hidden cameras monitored him from all angles just in case.

"Captain, what do you think?"

"From the results, it seems he’s telling the truth. Even now, the Space Rat is being digested at an extremely slow rate. Keep an eye on him while I activate Warp Drive. Have the others enter Ice Pods."

"Yes, Captain."

Captain Bling then left for about ten minutes before returning to the monitor room and then Cedric also left to inform his teammates about the captain’s orders. In a while, the spaceship returned to silence with only two people awake, Captain Bling and Cedric.

"Captain, what are you doing?" asked Cedric when he saw Captain Bling accessing the body suit that Rus was wearing.

"Don’t worry, I’m just checking some stuff out." he said and pressed the activate button.

Rus, who was sleeping peacefully in his cell was woken up by jolts of high voltage released by the suit. He endured the high voltage for an entire five minutes before it was deactivated.

"Haa... haa... haa..." he breathed heavily and was covered in sweat.

"Guys, what’s going on? I know you can hear me." he said with confusion.

<Who are you?> sounded Captain Bling’s voice inside the cell.

"I told you, my name is Ru..." before he could finish speaking, Captain Bling shocked him again for five minutes before letting him go.

<Who are you?>

"I’m Ru... aaagh..."

"If you let me finish speaking then you’ll know. I am R..."

Captain Bling kept asking the same question over and over again while Rus kept being electrocuted while trying to answer the captain’s question. This went on for hours with neither side relenting.

"Captain, what are you doing?" asked Cedric.

"Can’t you see, I’m trying to uncover this monster’s identity. There’s something off about him and I’m going to find out what it is."

"But captain, we’ve followed all protocols and there’s nothing wrong with him. We checked his DNA, checked if he was telling the truth or not and even checked his internal system. What else could he be hiding and where could he be hiding it." said Cedric.

"That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I won’t bring a threat back home and allow my people to suffer!" said the captain coldly.

"Isn’t he also one of us? Isn’t he also human? He’s our ancestor, how can we treat him in such a manner?! What would the public say if word of this got out?!"

"Stand down Soldier! If you’re gonna keep asking me questions then go and enter the Ice Pod too!" shouted the captain before continuing with his extreme interrogation methods.

"Captain, we’re a year away from reaching home. I think it’s best you stop with your actions now, you’ve been torturing the man for over nine years already." said Cedric who’d aged a bit.

"Who are you?" The captain ignored him and spoke on the mic.

"Hahaha! Good! Very good. I cooperated with you, followed your every instruction, even allowed you to keep me caged here like an animal. Nine years, you’ve fucking tortured me for nine years, fucking asking me the same question over and over again, do you fucking think you can just trample on my pride and dignity?! Do you think I’m a sitting duck just waiting for you to kill it, if so... then think again!" said Rus coldly.

Inside the dark cell, his glowing, reptilian eyes were captured on camera.

"Hahaha, after so many years, I finally managed to break through your cocoon! You’re finally showing me what I wanted to see all these years!" said Captain Bling in excitement. Looking at those reptilian eyes, Cedric felt like they’d provoked something they shouldn’t, awoke a monster they shouldn’t have.

Rus, through the cameras, opened his mouth wide and bit through the handcuffs and easily broke them, after that, he tore the body suit into shreds before disappearing.

"How is this possible?! Those are adamantium handcuffs, stunning that can’t be broken through easily, only a few creatures like the Space Rats..." Captain Bling seemed to realise something.

"The Space Rat corpse! I think he obtained the Space Rats abilities! Quick! Activate Super Gravity Mode on the hallways!" ordered the captain and Cedric quickly got to work and activated Super Gravity which the force of gravity was multiplied fifty times on the hallways but there still wasn’t any signs of Rus.

Super Gravity was the only way to counter all the Space Rats abilities because its body couldn’t handle such strong gravitational force.

[Where is he? Find him!] said the captain with a psychic infused voice. If the two could see Rus’s current appearance, they’d be shocked to no end because he was completely different. He now had thick horns that curved diagonally and was also half man half goat and was leisurely walking through the gravitational force like it was nothing.

’Ibex Goat... What a freak of nature.’ thought Rus while looking around, his eyes then turned pitch black and also had a fork tongue and kept licking the air.

"So it’s this way." he thought before following the Space Rat’s scent all the way to the closed door. He was phased through it like a phantom, not even needing an access card or other identification methods. On the other side, the room was spacious but also cold, very cold. It was the spaceship’s refrigerator where all kinds of corpses were frozen and well preserved.

He then transgender into a massive sandworm with meatgrinder-like teeth and started gobbling up all the monster corpses in the room.

"Found you!" said Captain Bling while looking at the screen with monster corpses suddenly floating in the air irregularly before slowly being ground down and disappearing into thin air.

"Cedric, go and wake everyone up, we have a monster to kill!" commanded the captain but Cedric was reluctant to face Rus.

"Captain, Rus is very dangerous, sending our crew is suicidal. With just the Space Rat Abilities alone, he can completely wipe out our team, plus, who knows what other abilities he has that allow him to be unaffected by fifty times gravitational force. We’re only a Low Tier Four Civilisation Beings, he might be a High or Advanced Tier Four Being. Please rethink your decision Captain!" said Cleric in concern.

"Will you fucking shut up and do as I tell you! The more time you waste, the stronger he becomes, what if he finds "That" corpse. Will you be responsible for the repercussions?!"

’If he devours that thing and obtains its abilities, not just us but our entire civilisation will be in danger, all because of our stupid captain provoking the wrong opponent! He fucking ate a Space Rat with just his weekend self yet you constantly provoked him!’ said Cedric inwardly.

On the other hand, Rus was almost done devouring the frozen corpses, all because of his strong teeth that could bite through the strongest bones.
