Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 102: A Wedding Night Misconception
Chapter 102: A Wedding Night Misconception
A frenzy of commotion erupted amongst the guests following his announcement.
"Wife? What the hell is going on brother?!" Desmond asked his older brother, who looked just as confused as he was.
William clenched his fists, and kept his harsh glare on the woman in Thane’s arms.
Cressida laughed, "What’d I say mom? There’s never a dull moment around him."
But her mother did not share the same sentiment. "Keep your mouth shut, you hopeless drunk!" She raised her gaze to where her husband sat, and noticed he had his eyes on the woman in Thane’s arms.
Just like everyone else.
"Mother, did you know about this?" The older uncle, Edward asked.
Sophia shook her head, "No, I didn’t know Malcolm was planning ahead of us this entire time." Her features contorted into a heavy frown.
Meanwhile, Mallory, took the news differently from the rest. Seeing the man that she had waited months to speak with, right in front of her, with his wife in his arms, made her lightheaded.
"Malcolm, what is the meaning of this? What wife?! Are you mocking us?" Godfrey demanded.
Amanda seconded, "Thane, explain yourself this minute! Who is this woman-"
"This woman is my wife, so select your words wisely." Thane sternly warned.
"Wife? Son, what do you mean?" Rosalind loudly whispered.
Amanda laughed mockingly, "Is this how the Graysons act? Tell me, what about my Mallory?"
Mallory held her hand to the side of her head, "Mom, please don’t yell-"
Her father drowned her voice with an outburst. "If your son was already married, why did you-"
Malcolm cut him off, "This is neither the time or the place to have this conversation."
"Hey." Brooke called out softly to Thane’s hearing alone, "Please, let me down now. This is getting embarrassing, everyone is staring."
Thane who would’ve much more preferred to stay that way the entire time, folded and carefully sat her on the wheelchair.
"Father, happy birthday." Thane greeted, then proceeded to push Brooke’s wheelchair forward, towards the elevator.
Brooke kept her head down. "Is this really okay? Your parents looked upset." She said as they reached the elevator. fгeewebnovёl.com
"Brooke, don’t mind-" Thane’s words were cut short when a ginger haired woman suddenly collapsed behind them.
Brooke peeked over, "Hey, it looks like someone got hurt-"
Thane wheeled her into the elevator, "Don’t worry, there are full time doctors here. You don’t have to worry yourself."
Although he said that, it did not ease Brooke’s mind.
Why did they have doctors on stand by?
Was this about his health or just a thing rich people did?
She kept her questions at bay when the elevator reached the top floor, which was surprisingly empty and quiet.
Her eyes caught sight of an old man sitting at the end of the hallway, she wanted to ask who he was and why he was just sitting there by himself, but Thane did that for her.
He wheeled Brooke to the old man who would not even look at them, he kept his attention on everything happening downstairs.
"Grandfather, this is my wife, Brooke."
The old man didn’t say a word in response, which made Brooke worry. Wasn’t he the head of the family? Then why was he by himself with no one attending to him?
After his brief introduction, Thane wheeled Brooke into a bedroom close by, and shut the door behind them.
Inside of the room was grey, from the paint, to the decor and everything else, the dull color went from ceiling to floor.
"This is my bedroom." He announced, wheeling her towards the surprisingly small bed.
"It’s nice." She said, ignoring how plain it looked. The room back home looked much better and felt cozier too.
She didn’t know why, but this bedroom gave off an icy feeling, making her uncomfortable.
"Um, about your grandfather, I don’t think he took the news very well." She said, slipping the ring back on her finger.
Thane noticed her do that, but didn’t address it.
"He took it better than I imagined."
She frowned, "Maybe you were right, I don’t think we should’ve come here."
Thane sat on the edge of the bed, Brooke wheeled herself over, sitting in-between his spread out legs.
He flicked her forehead playfully, "Does that mean I win our first argument?"
She knitted her brows, "There is no winner or loser."
He smiled, "Of course, if you say so darling."
Brooke’s cheeks flushed, but she managed to keep her composure. Fake coughing she went on, "Now that we’re alone..." She started.
Thane’s eyes lit up with amusement to where this conversation was headed. "Now that we’re alone?" He asked, reaching for the button on his shirt.
Brooke’s face flushed like a rippened tomato. "I think we should take advantage of this time and well..." She tightly closed her eyes, too shy to bring it up.
Seeing how difficult it was for her to say it, Thane took the initiative. "To be honest, Brooke, I thought you wouldn’t be okay with this, until another year or two, and I’m willing to wait that long, if that’s what you need." He started off.
Brooke tilted her head, and raised a brow, unsure what he was talking about.
"However, if you truly want for us to do this now, I’ll also respect that. Truth be told, I’ve been harbouring such thoughts for quite a while too." he reached for the side of her face and gently caressed it.
He traced his fingers to the lower part of her face, his thumb gently stroked her lip, slowly and sensually.
Realizing what he meant, her ears reddened.
’I just wanted to ask him for advice on how to act around his family.’ she panicked, as Thane’s touch made her body temperature rise.
But it was clear that Thane had other things in mind.
’I-I should just let this happen, after all I owe him for all the help he’s given me.’ she convinced herself, despite the uneasiness she felt.
Thane noticed the stiffness of her muscles, and immediately took his hand off her. Taking another look at her, he saw the way her lip quivered and her shoulders quaked.
She was afraid.
And it was his fault.
"Excuse me." Thane suddenly announced.
Brooke opened her eyes, "Wait, where are you-"
"I have to make an important call." He said, then dashed out of the room, with no explanation whatsoever, leaving Brooke in a state of confusion.
