Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 104: The Mistress’ Faction
Chapter 104: The Mistress’ Faction
"Card or cash, miss?" The woman at the counter raised a brow at the customer covered in black from head to toe.
Speaking through her face mask Sadie replied, "Cash." Then slipped some bills from the side pockets of her large jacket.
After her purchase, she went outside, only to see her taxi hadn’t arrived. She stood next behind the lamp post, hiding under it’s shadow, hoping no one would pay her attention.
The casting list was just released last night and the reception from the public had been nothing but horrific.
Sadie reached for her phone, and scrolled through the articles of angry fans going on a riot, creating accounts just to slur at her and even going as far as to make her a fake grave.
The image still sent chills down her spine.
Her thoughts however, were interrupted by an unfamiliar black car pulling over. She diverted her gaze, and pulled down on her hoodie to hide her face.
But, the front seat window rolled down, and sitting behind the wheel was none other than president Lucas.
Sadie sprinted towards the car looking both ways discreetly.
"Sir, what are you..."
"Come in, we have something to talk about." He said.
Although she felt skeptical about going with him, she didn’t want to stall and risk someone seeing them. She got in, and fastened her seatbelt, he started the engine, and drove off, just as her taxi arrived.
Looking out the window, Sadie frowned when the taxi driver picked up her grocery bags, wearing a confused look on his face.
"And they were on sales too." She mused, as the sight became further out of sight.
Lucas dry coughed, "Sadie, there’s something you need to clarify."
She sat back down, "Is there something wrong? Why did you show up out of the blue suddenly?"
He sighed, "After the casting was announced last night, I got an email through the company’s official address, with photos..." He took a pause and glanced at her, letting her know what he was getting at.
Sadie’s eyes widened, she ripped her face mask off, "No, he didn’t..." She muttered in disbelief.
Seeing her reaction, Lucas could tell that the photos were in fact real and not photoshopped.
His tone softened, "I’m not blaming you, I know that everyone makes choices that they’re not proud of." He started off, placing her mind at ease.
"However, we do need to nip this in the bud, and quick. The anonymous sender has requested a deposit of a million dollars-"
"What? That idiot!" She slapped her forehead in disbelief.
"You know him, don’t you? He’s the boy who claimed to be your brother that day, isn’t he?" Lucas asked, "If that’s the case we can head to the station now, and..."
Sadie cut him off, "You don’t understand sir, he is my brother, and as much as I hate him, I don’t want to send him to prison."
"Saide, that isn’t up to you anymore, what he’s doing is illegal, and so are the photos he’s harbouring. The people in the photo with you are all criminals in the system-"
"You looked them up?" She was stunned to see Lucas take this much initiative.
"Of course I did. I want to find a way to make this problem go away as quietly as possible before filming starts. If your brother is going to be a problem, I’ll have to take care of it." Just as he said that, Sadie’s phone rang.
"Sorry, I’ll turn it off..." She was saying, until her eyes caught sight of the caller, it was Hannah.
"I’m sorry, but I need to take this, it’s very important."
Lucas nodded and made a stop at the red traffic light.
She mouthed him a thank you as she answered, "Hello-" barely did she get a word in, than Hannah announced loudly into the phone, drowning her voice.
"I got him, that brother of yours, if you want to take him down, I have all the information you need, I’m sending it to you right now." Hannah informed her.
"What?" Sadie spat out, she exchanged quick glances with Lucas, who was equally as stunned.
Just like Hannah had promised, a file was transferred into her phone and had begun to download.
"How? How did you..."
"It was the boss’s orders, so of course I came through. Not to mention your brother was sloppy in covering his tracks, I didn’t even break a sweat..." Hannah’s words fell to the wind when Sadie cut her off with a gasp.
Staring at the photos of her brother, she shook her head from side to side, "You idiot...what the hell did you go and get yourself into?"
When Thane left, Brooke practiced what she would say to him upon his arrival.
It was in the middle of her rehearsal that she got her first visitor from the family.
Vexed, Matthew marched into the room and headed for Brooke, but stopped himself from getting close. He knew he messed up at the script reading and dreaded the punishment his brother would cook up.
"What the hell were you thinking coming here? And what is all this marriage bullshit? Have you both really lost your minds?" He fired one question after the other.
Brooke held her palm up, "Matthew, do you think I’m going to answer you, after everything you put me through at the script reading?"
He hissed, "Are you still hung up on that? It wasn’t my fault, that other guy was such a prick-"
She cut him off. "I don’t want to speak with you, just be glad I didn’t tell him about it." She hugged her sides, "Though, I doubt he doesn’t already know."
Matthew huffed, "Okay fine, I was a bit out of line, but placing that aside, you need to leave this house, now." He told her.
"I’ll leave with Mr Grayson-"
"You don’t seem to understand Brooke, you need to leave my brother, for everyone’s sake." Matthew said, meaning every word.
Brooke furrowed her brows, "What do you mean, everyone’s sake? Matthew, what’s really going on here?"
He sighed and helped himself sit at the edge of the bed. "I’m only telling you this, so you’ll understand the situation and know why you can’t marry my brother." He clarified before divulging into the narration.
Painfully unaware that Thane and Brooke had already gotten married.
In a low tone he started, "My father, Malcolm, is the son of my grandfather’s mistress."
Brooke’s eyes widened, "You mean..."
"Yes, our faction of the family is the illegitimate side." Matthew revealed, casting light on just the tip of the iceberg.
