Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 245: An Urgent Meeting
Chapter 245: An Urgent Meeting
The officers took Brooke’s handcuffs off and escorted her out of the prison towards an awaiting car. Axel stayed close to her, watching to see how an order from the highest ranked officer in the country could be overruled in just a matter of hours.
"You stay back." The older woman said, her hand stretched out, keeping Brooke and Axel apart.
Brooke looked over her shoulder at Axel, her eyes a nervous mess.
Axel balled his fists, "We can’t just let her leave with a total stranger, if she’s free to go then she should leave on her own-" he tried to move past her, but the other officer held him back.
He signalled his colleague to lead Brooke into the awaiting black truck, and made sure that Axel stayed in place until Brooke was driven away from the station.
Inside the car, Brooke looked to her side to see take out food and a change of clothes. Since the truck was large and had curtains, she would be able to change into them effortlessly.
She was the only one in the backseat, with nothing but a glass window connecting her to the driver in front.
Looking through the bag of clothes she asked, "Did Mr Grayson send you?"
The driver responded, "I was only hired to take you from this location to the next. I’m unaware of who it was that helped you madam...." He was saying, only to get cut off by another vehicle speeding in front of his truck.
The black sport’s car pulled over in front of the truck, nearly causing a collision!
"Ouch!" Brooke winced in pain when her head slammed hard against the window. She held onto the curtain for stability, her heart racing over the sudden halt the driver took.
"What’s going on? Why did we stop?!" She demanded, her eyes closed from the pain.
Before the driver could say a word, a loud horn from the other car cut him off. The sound was so loud it drew the attention of everyone on the street. In moments, the traffic wardens marched over to the scene, inspecting both cars.
’This is my chance to escape!’ Brooke immediately placed her plan in motion, she opened the backseat and ran out of the car. She planned to stop a taxi to the mansion, see Mr Grayson and find out if he was the one who got her out of prison.
But her plan sped itself up when Brooke realized that the other car that had overtaken them was actually Mr Grayson’s. She wasted no time to rush over to it, ignoring the hollers from the driver, who was blocked on both ends by the traffic wardens. After seeing a dishevelled woman run out of his truck, the wardens threw him harsh glares.
Brooke rushed into the backseat, where certainly enough Thane was inside. Her eyes watered when she saw her husband, she naturally fell into his arms, hugging him tightly.
"Brooke." He whispered her name so softly it made her forget for a second everything that had happened.
She sobbed into his chest, "I’m so sorry! I shouldn’t have gone to see him behind your back! I...I shouldn’t have left the house! I should’ve...I should’ve...." Her words were drowned by the indescribable despair swelling in her throat.
Thane pulled her in closer, "None of that matters now. All that’s important is that you’re here with me now."
At the set, the filming crew had a field day discussing Brooke’s scandal!
"You know, I never really liked that woman. Who takes more than a week to learn how to block properly?!" One of the extras said, staring at the nails they had painted for the scene.
Another chimed, "If she wasn’t sleeping with a sponsor, she wouldn’t have landed this role. That woman’s carelessness has placed this film in jeopardy-" in the middle of her sentence, a loud footstomp cut her off.
"Ahem!" Sadie dry coughed, causing the extras to part way, each standing at the side with their heads lowered.
"If you don’t have anything better to do, then rehearse your lines, filming is still going on, and any one of you could be dropped if you drag us behind schedule." She announced, her glare as sharp as a knife.
The extras could do nothing but nod as she walked away towards the director’s office. Once she was away from them, Sadie’s features softened into worry. She pulled out her phone from her jacket and stared at the unanswered calls to Hannah.
"What is going on here? Hannah isn’t answering, is Miss Brooke okay?" She had seen the news, but knowing the kind of man Brooke married she assumed that Brooke would be okay.
In fact, she wondered how Brooke could’ve been arrested in the first place, her mind scattered across as she stepped into the room, where the director, casting director, lead script writer, Damien, Dylan and president Lucas were already seated.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting." Sadie announced, pulling herself a seat.
The director waved it off, "Now that we’re all here, we can hit the nail on the head and discuss the elephant in the room." He said, starting the meeting off.
Sadie tossed a glance to Lucas, he had a saddened look on his face. She rested her hands on her stomach, gripping the fabric over it.
Why did he look like that?
She looked to Dylan, and in place of his usual bored expression, she saw something that resembled worry.
Director Flynn wasted no time and sliced through the tension with his announcement. "After some careful consideration, the president and the rest of us have come to the decision to..." he stopped, then took a look at the people at his left and right, seeking permission to go on.
Lucas nodded, giving him the go-ahead.
Director Flynn sighed, "We’ve decided to drop Brooke Larson from the film moving forward." He announced, raising the tension in the room through the roof!
