Chapter 56: The Mock Battle [Pt—2]: Skyler vs Zara

The attacks that surrounded Skyler, fell upon him like a tsunami. It was insanely overwhelming as he stood in the middle, taking all of it as though savouring the flavour of her attacks.

After the massive clash, the visions cleared. Everyone was stunned to see how Skyler stood unharmed.

Yes, there might be some little injuries sustained by him, but he didn’t seemed to be affected by it. Instead, it appeared as if it required more than that to even flinch him.

"Is that all you’ve got?" He murmured, smirking as though infuriating the opponent against him. "You’re a stage-9 mage, aren’t you? Then why wasting your mana on low level spells."

"You’re kidding right?" Zara shouted, clinching against her teeth. "There was no way you’d survive that. It was one of my strongest attacks. Why it didn’t affect you?"

’I know, right.’ Skyler thought, smiling to himself, ’If it wasn’t for my system which detected your murderous intent, I might have take a bit of damage. Right now my HP and MP are frozen.’

But a sudden reminder occurred to him. It was true that the system detected the murderous intent, but Dragon’s Wrath didn’t seemed to affect Zara entirely.

It might have frozen Skyler’s health and mana bar on his stats. But Zara wasn’t affected by his draconic aura. She was perfectly fine.

’She did said that she’ll fight with dignity.’ Skyler began to worry, ’And she didn’t seem to have any grudge against me either. Could it be....’ His eye brows raised, ’A third party.’

Worriedly, he scanned everyone around him. The students were shocked, and the professors were impressed while the students from honoured ones were cheering for him.

No one appeared to be scheming against him, or so he thought until his gaze met a frightened student from the Mystic Scholar.

She almost resembled Zara and was panicking. She was frozen to her place as she stood there and looked at Skyler. Her eyes weren’t moving from him as if they were fixed. Yet she was sweating crazily.

’So there you are.’ Skyler thought, grinning rather ferociously at her, ’She might be the one interfering with this battle. I guess she has my thanks.’

Skyler shook his hands. Electrical sparkles surged with his fist. His ’Dark Amplifier’ overlapped his fist, making it black lighting— stronger and effective.

He vanished. With his intense attack, he appeared just before Zara. He punched. However, before his punch could have impacted her, his fist clashed with an ice wall. Zara had cast it as he predicted Skyler’s movement.

Instead of panicking in the battle field, she knew how to regain composure. If her attack won’t work, that doesn’t mean she didn’t had any other ways. She was competent in utilizing those ways.

"Wind Thrust!" She blew Skyler away with her massive wind strike. They were powerful, and was enough to bend Skyler a little.

Skyler stood, preventing her winds which almost pushed him back at the edge. Bu the didn’t fazed— remained calm as usual, the sly grin still lurking in his lips.

"Aqua Outburst!"

He barely whispered and let the huge waves of water rush towards her. Meanwhile he made preparations for the next attack.

Soon the waves closed near Zara and was about to sink her under it. She wasn’t weak though.

Unleashing a certain amount of mana, she created a barrier of wind that rotated around her.

Clash!

But the wind barrier saved her from drenching as it kept rotating, taking the waters along with it. It almost formed a giant whirlpool.

"Ember Ignition!"

She used her fire spells. Since it wasn’t meant for Skyler, there was no hesitation from her either. She just used her flames to turn the whirlpool in a vapour that shrouded the area, making it hard to she.

Even in the unseen condition, she knew how to fight. She relied on her senses as the next attack could be from anywhere.

"Got you!" she smiled as she looked above. From there an intense light was coming. It was Skyler’s attack.

She was about to block it. But little did she know, it was only a decoy— a diversion to lower her guard.

And then it happened. Skyler appeared just behind her, smiled and whispered in a low voice.

"Thunder Surge!"

He punched her with all he had got, surging the thunder through her entire body parts. It ran through Zara’s body wildly, tormenting not only her muscles but also her entire nervous system.

******

It was surprising when the vapour cleared away. Zara was still standing. Even though thunder still sparkled through her body. But she refused to yield.

"Like I told you." She muttered, smiling with a sly grin, "I’ve hot got!"

Everyone focused on Skyler. He was standing but several icicle shots had already pierced through him, creating holes from where his blood flowed out.

His condition was worst. If it were any ordinary human, they’d die in a instant.

But it was Skyler. His HP was already frozen, allowing him to sustain even life threatening wounds. I won’t die.

"This is nothing." He replied bravely, "I have experienced more than this, and have always survived. Do you think this is enough to defeat me?"

"Probably not." Zara exhaled sharply, "That’s why I have prepared this."

With a snap of her fingers, triggered the flames entrapped inside her icicles shots which still stuck within Skyler. The outburst of the raging fire were insanely effective.

Yet, instead of affecting Skyler, they were healing his wounds— filling the gaps made by her ices.

"What?... what’s that." Students from Mystic Scholar stammered in surprise, "The flames.... It’s healing him? But how?"

’Beats me!’ hearing their whispered Skyler thought, ’This occurred last time when I was kidnapped by the Rouge Fighters.’

A fragment of his journey came to his mind which he didn’t game much thought. All he cared about the system interface which conveyed a new message.

[Success! Your wounds now have been healed]

"Uh-huh." He whispered to himself, and began to walk towards Zara. She was exhaling deeply as thought exhausted by using strength over her limits. but she was far from accepting her defeat.

Skyler was determined to won, anyway. He’d do literally anything to defeat her. But he was cautious not taka the matter as far as to kill her. She wasn’t someone against whom he’d hold grudge.

But there was still something that bothered him. It was the girl resembling Zara. Why her murderous intent resonated with his system.

"Mind if I ask you something?" Skyler inquired, surging his black thunder on his fists again, "That girl over there... who’s she?"

"You mean Zoya?" She glanced quickly at the girl Skyler pointed at, "She’s my twin sister, why?"

"You see, for some reason have this feeling that your sister might be intervening with our match."

"Stop being ridiculous!" she yelled, "Just because you’re having hard time defeating me, doesn’t mean you’ll drag my sister into this. She has nothing to do with you."

"That’s fine if you say so." Skyler replied, still pointing at Zoya, "Because if she were to intervene, my ’Magic Sense’ would’ve been triggered and she’d be feeling a mental torture."

"What?" Zara worriedly looked at her sister who actually seemed unnatural. She was dithering while murmuring something to herself.

Now that Skyler enlightened that, everyone focused on Zoya— rather than focusing on Zara’s battle.

Her words were now clear as other listened closely.

"Mon... Monster!" She murmured, barely louder than a whisper, "He’s... he’s a monster."

The Professors noticed it too. But they couldn’t comprehend why she’d say something like that. After all, they weren’t under his Passive Skills effects.

"What did you do to my sister." Zara roared, rushing towards him with scorching flames, "You play that dirty to divert my focus on my sister. You bastard!"

"Oh, easy, easy." Dodging her attacks, Skyler said, "I already asked you not to get hostile against me. Because if you did, you’d experience the same thing what she’s experiencing right now. But still I wonder why did she get affected?"

Skyler looked concerned and continued, "Even if she has murderous intent towards me, my ’Magic Sense’ wouldn’t need to be triggered. I’m facing you not her."

"That’s because they’re synchronized." Professor Andrew spoke suddenly, "It can be the reason why it happened."

"Synchronized?" Skyler seemed confused, "What’s that?"

"An Anomaly." Professor Arnol replied, "They are the only mage who are linked with each other since they’re born. Their thinking capabilities, magical enhancement even their graces are similar. They can even borrow each other’s strength. However...."

He stood in the middle, stopping their mock battle.

"However, during one on one mock battle , they were prohibited to do that. Since your ’Magic Sense’ has been tempered, I assume Zara and Zoya are still in sync. Is it true, Zara?"

"N-No."

"Don’t lie." Arnol insisted, "We can see that. Professor Andrew, you can se it right?"

"As much as I hate to agree, but yes." He replied with a sigh of regret, "She’s in sync with her sister right now."

"Your heard your professor." Arnol remarked, "This is considered as cheating. Thus you’ve lost this match. The winner is Skyler."

"No way." The other student stared with disgrace at her.

Utter despair fell on Zara as her face paled and her eyes popped out in shock.
