In what used to be an abandoned factory located in the slums of a megacity there was a room filled with all sorts of notes and documentation about cryptids. Most people, even hunters who faced those vile creatures before, would deem it as nothing but the ranting of a deranged person with an unhealthy obsession. However, nothing could be further away from the truth.

It was Luna’s research, her life project and her reason to wake up in the morning.

Day after day she shut herself in trying to find answers to questions most people didn’t even think of: What do cryptids eat, do they have genders, how do they breed, do they have different personalities, what are the differences between their ranks, why do they kill themselves rather than being captured were the most common ones, but there were other questions that would have left baffled even the most expert scholars.

"Do they poop?" Luna muttered to herself as she stared at the ceiling with a blank expression on her face. "I never heard of cryptid droppings, but maybe it’s because I haven’t asked the right person."

She waited until she was certain Uriel wasn’t around before exiting her room, because he was dangerously close to finding out she’s a werewolf and didn’t want to risk herself getting caught, but she couldn’t avoid bumping into Nika.

"Where’s the fire?"

"Uhm, what fire?"

"I don’t know, you’re rushing outside like there’s an emergency." Nika explained after realizing that Luna was completely oblivious when it came to figurative speech.

"Uh... there’s no fire. I have to... uhm, do cryptids poop?"

"I... never thought about that." Nika said as she sat down with a dumbfounded look on her face that would last for the rest of the day.

Luna then left the perplexed Nika and tried to make her way out, but as luck would have it she then ran into Medusa.

"Luna! What are you doing here?"

"I’m walking," She wasn’t trying to make fun of her and simply answered the question, then she continued. "Medusa, have you ever encountered cryptid’s poop?"

"I can’t say that I have, but maybe Sam can help you. His trait is really good for finding stuff." Medusa replied and Luna suddenly became excited, though her emotion didn’t leak to her face.

Luna hurried to Sam’s room and knocked a couple times.

"Sam..."

"Don’t know, don’t care" Was all he replied as he was too busy with an online match in a popular game and didn’t want to mess up his elo.

"But... uhm, I just want to know if you’ve seen cryptids poop. Can’t you pause your game?"

Sam got up from his chair, but instead of opening the door he locked it and then got back to playing his game, leaving Luna standing outside. It took her about five minutes to finally understand that he wasn’t going to help her.

Although her emotions didn’t show, she was very upset by this. Sam was among the few friends she had and couldn’t understand why he was so mean to her.

Later that day, Luna went to visit the one person that would take her question seriously, Professor Lamar. She found him in his laboratory, as usual, but luckily for her he wasn’t giving a lecture and had some free time.

"Uhm, Professor, do you know if Cryptids poop?"

"Good day to you too," Lamar scoffed. "That is an interesting line of thought, but I don’t know the answer to that question."

"Can you point me to a book with some related information?"

"I don’t think there’s any. Perhaps you should ask the rangers, they spend a great deal of time outside city walls. If anyone has ever seen Cryptid droppings it must be them. Please let me know the results of your investigation." Professor Lamar adjusted his glasses and then continued looking under the microscope.

Luna excitedly left the room without saying a word, though Lamar was too busy to notice. There was something odd about the sample he was experimenting with, it was an energy drink provided to him by Uriel that somehow was able to channel flux energy and he couldn’t understand how something like that was even possible.

Luna’s next stop was Miss Charlie’s office, but she was nowhere to be seen. She waited for half an hour until she figured Charlie wasn’t going to come and her stress levels were skyrocketing. At such times she always counted on her sister Cassandra to comfort her, but she didn’t like her new friends and she was forced to move out of the dorm room in order to live her own life.

But it was precisely because of that, that Luna had to deal with her issues on her own.

She tried to calm herself down with little success. She tried all the usual things that soothed her, like thinking of something that made her happy or trying to find a quiet spot, but the moon cycle didn’t help.

That night was going to be a full moon and even though it didn’t mean she would necessarily transform into a werewolf as stated in the old tales, it did cause her mood swings and mental instability which was the main trigger for her transformation.

"I need... I need to find a quiet place..." She muttered as she headed outside the building at the same time the sun was rapidly declining in the horizon.

Light became too bright for her, the sounds seemed to be overwhelmingly loud, but the worst part was the smell. It was the smell of something rotten, only multiplied tenfold. It was a smell so disgusting and annoying, most humans would never get even to comprehend.

It was the smell of vampires.

Her heart began racing and hot blood pumped through her veins, she bumped into anyone who stood in her way and although her senses became heightened due to the transformation process already starting, it was impossible for her to recognize people because of the sensory overload.

She sought for shelter in the quietest, darkest place she could find and undressed herself knowing that failing to do so will result in her being naked in the middle of the campus.

When her transformation finally took place, a seething rage againt the source of the foul smells overtook her consciousness and she fell into a berserk state that only ended when she was caught red handed by none other than her friend, Uriel.
