Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 251: The Prince’s weakness
By the time Cardan brought her back to the castle, the royal physician was there to check on Esme’s condition.
The servants asked Cardan if they should get the royal physician for Luciana but Cardan refused it.
He did not know if that physician had healing abilities.
Cardan did not want Luciana to suffer from these wounds for long.
He wanted to heal her but the origins of his powers were impure. Other than the divine powers in his body, he had his mother’s black magic. He could barely heal his own superficial wounds but he did not want to put Luciana in any danger.
Someone he knew possessed healing abilities. His elder brother. But that man was a spitting reflection of him. They did not meddle in matters that had nothing to do with them.
In the past year, Cardan had never seen Aleister even approaching any woman, let alone touch or talk to them. And he was not the kind of saintly man who would go around saving people. So, it was unknown whether Aleister would agree to it.
And Luciana’s wounds...
Just the thought of another man touching her bare back was making his blood boil. But her health was more important to Cardan.
He was even willing to beg his brother to help her but before he could do that, Esme stepped forward to do it.
It was only then did he realize that she could heal too.
Now, here they were.
Luciana smiled weakly at Esme, her eyes sparkling.
’’Are you so touched that you are about to cry?" Esme climbed on the other side of the bed and patted Luciana’s head.
’’Crying because you healed me?" Luciana rolled her eyes arrogantly, ’’Isn’t it something you are obliged to do? And isn’t it an honor for you?"
’’Yes yes, it’s an honor to heal you,’’ Esme chuckled.
Although Luciana said that, one could see the touched expressions on her face. But since she was not used to showing her emotional side in front of others, she masked her emotions under her usual arrogance.
Moreover, in recent days, she had embarrassed herself by crying and being pitiful all the time so she restrained herself this time.
Esme let out a soft sigh as she pulled Luciana in her arms, ’’Who did that?" Although those wounds were healed but she could not forget the sight of those ghastly scars and cuts on Luciana’s back.
She had overheard Aleister and Cardan talking to each other and before Aleister could answer, she told them she would heal Luciana.
But in the end, she felt terrible when she saw those deep slashes on her back and even around her neck.
Cardan straightened up when he heard that.
’’Was it your brother?" Esme could not help but ask, ’’I know Lucian and you don’t get along but how could he...?"
’’It was not him, Es,’’ Luciana shook her head.
Esme broke the hug, ’’You don’t have to lie to me.’’
Cardan’s eyes darkened. It was her brother then...? 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
’’I am more powerful than Lucian and you know that we don’t do this to each other,’’ Luciana knew that Esme would not let her go unless she answered. And even if she did let her go, a certain man who was sitting like an angry bear won’t let her go until he got an answer, ’’It’s my father.’’
Esme was stunned, ’’What?" Although Marcus Norwell seemed to be a strict father but she never thought he was such a violent person.
’’We had some disagreements,’’ Luciana did not explain more, "I had kept some things from him. It was my fault."
Cardan pushed himself to his feet.
Both Esme and Luciana turned to look at him when they felt the movement.
’’You both should keep talking,’’ Cardan shrugged one shoulder, ’’I should go and see if the King is done talking with my brother.’’
Luciana had a lot that she wanted to say and ask Cardan but in the end, she decided to wait for him to come back.
After both the women nodded at him, Cardan left the room, leaving them alone.
Luciana could feel Esme’s probing gaze on her.
’’What happened between you and your father for him to transform into a beast and do this to you?" Esme’s brows furrowed.
’’I told you that we had some disagreements,’’ Luciana avoided her gaze.
Esme quietly glanced at the woman, ’’Lucy, can I even trust you?" she whispered after a long time.
Luciana tilted her head to meet her friend’s probing gaze confusingly. Did she know what her father had told her? No, how could she have known that?
Their conversation occurred inside those closed walls.
Esme stayed in Luciana’s room for a few minutes before leaving.
Luciana secured her appearance, and changed her gown before leaving her room.
Ignoring her complicated mood, she stopped in front of a group of guards, ’’Have you seen our guests?" she asked them.
’’I saw Lord Aleister going to the courtroom some time ago,’’ one of them answered, ’’And Lord Cardan also seemed to have gone that way.’’
Luciana nodded and made her way towards the courtroom but her footsteps slowed down when she saw a familiar face.
Her father paused when he sensed her presence. ’’I heard you have not been feeling well,’’ he asked like a caring father as he strode towards her.
From the corner of her eyes, Luciana saw the maids and soldiers walking past them, ’’I was a bit sick, father. I feel much better now,’’ she smiled at him.
’’I was very worried,’’ he patted her head before shifting his broad palm to her back as he guided her towards an empty hallway.
As they stood away from the hustle and bustle of the servants, Marcus nodded. His face still looked like that of a warm father as he said, ’’What did you tell them?"
’’Father, I left the manor in a hurry. They saw the blood...’’ she mumbled.
Marcus seemed to be contemplating it for some time before he looked at her sincere expressions and nodded again, "Have you decided?"
Luciana glanced at him.
’’I don’t know if you have any sort of remaining attachment for your dead mother. But I have none. Her existence only meant to warm my bed for me and give me heirs. If you are still hovering between your choices, I am not that patient—’’
’’I have a plan,’’ Luciana raised her head, determination shining in her green eyes, ’’I have found the Prince’s weakness.’’
