Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Sienna Is His Reverse Scale

Once again, Chloe’s mind recalled the words Henry Prescott had said to her back then.

He told her not to delude herself with things that should not belong to her.

Even if Silas Prescott had slept with her, she was nothing more than a tool for him to vent his desires.

The position of the young mistress of the Prescott Family could never be hers.

Recalling this, Chloe sneered coldly in her heart.

Without comparison, there is no harm.

She organized her thoughts and pushed the door open.

But when she clearly saw the woman in the room with a mole between her brows, she was completely stunned.

Her breath seemed to stop at that moment. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Childhood memories surged up in her heart.

When Sienna Paxton was three, her dad got injured on a mission, causing paralysis below his waist.

He would spend the rest of his life in bed.

Upon hearing this, the whole family was shrouded in gloom.

Sienna cried for a whole night.

But when she woke up, she saw her mom pulling a suitcase, leaving a divorce agreement for her dad as she left.

At the time, Sienna thought, Dad needed care, so what would happen if Mom left?

She cried and chased her mom, begging her not to go.

No matter how much she pleaded, her mom was unmoved.

Her mom pried her fingers off forcefully, coldly saying, "Don’t ever look for me again, and don’t call me your mom. Our mother-daughter relationship ends here."

After saying that, she took her suitcase and got into a black car.

Later, her dad and grandpa both passed away, and a neighbor told her to find her mom.

But the hurt her mom inflicted on her as a child was etched into her very bones.

She resented her mom for not caring about her dad’s life and resented her for leaving her so young.

She preferred to go to an orphanage rather than find her mom.

Thinking back on this, Chloe felt extreme hatred in her heart.

She buried her emotions deep within, her expression returning to its usual cold indifference.

She walked up to Old Master Prescott, handed a report to Silas Prescott, and said, "The brain report from this morning is out. Post-surgery recovery is good; just keep it this way."

Silas nodded, "Thank you, Dr. Nash."

From the moment Chloe walked in, Mrs. Sterling had been watching her closely.

But Chloe didn’t spare her a glance from start to finish. After giving her instructions, she turned to leave.

Mrs. Sterling immediately followed her.

"You’re the doctor who operated on the old master. My mother-in-law also has a tumor in her brain, and we’d like you to take a look."

Upon hearing this, Chloe inwardly sneered.

She could care so much for her mother-in-law, yet when her own father became disabled, not a word of concern was uttered.

She even quarreled with her father, blaming him for being a burden.

Chloe’s tone was very mild, "I was invited by Mr. Prescott specifically for Old Master Prescott’s surgery. After his recovery, I will leave. If you have any needs, please consult other doctors in the hospital. I am not responsible for this. Sorry."

With that, she turned and left.

Mrs. Sterling’s face turned somewhat sour, but with the Prescotts present, she couldn’t say anything.

She could only smile and say, "Stella, why don’t you stay with Grandpa Prescott for a while, and I’ll go talk to that doctor to see if we can get her to treat your grandmother."

"Sure, Mom, I’ll chat with Grandpa Prescott."

Stella Sterling fed all the porridge to Old Master Prescott and even helped wipe his mouth without any disdain.

Old Master Sterling nodded in gratification, "Apart from Sienna, you’re the second person who’s this good at taking care of people."

At the mention of this name, Stella Sterling felt a bit uncomfortable inside.

She had heard rumors about Sienna Paxton and Silas Prescott before; people said that Silas had remained unmarried because of Sienna.

She felt a bit indignant, "Sienna is really heartless. The Prescotts raised her, yet she left without a word, making Silas search for her for so many years.

I think she’s deliberately staying hidden, just wanting to see how much Silas cares about her.

I’ve seen people like her a lot; they play hard to get. Silas, you should stop looking for her. She’s not worth it."

Hearing these words, a cold glint flashed across Silas Prescott’s once calm eyes.

His tone also grew much heavier.

"Since when did you start having a say in my affairs?"

"I’m just thinking it’s not worth it for you. Do you know how people talk about you two outside? It’s pretty unpleasant. If it weren’t for Sienna, you wouldn’t be insulted so badly."

"Whoever insults me and whatever they say is none of your concern, Miss Sterling. Please be aware of your own identity."

Realizing how upset he got when Sienna was mentioned, Stella Sterling became more convinced that the rumors were true.

Someday, Silas Prescott was supposed to marry her, and she couldn’t allow him to have another woman in his heart.

She looked at Silas pitifully, "Silas, I’m doing this for your own good."

Silas Prescott dismissed her sentiment saying, "No need for Miss Sterling to concern yourself with my well-being. I’m perfectly fine on my own, and I don’t want to hear any slander about Sienna. Otherwise, don’t blame me for disregarding the relationship between our families."

His expression appeared calm but was terrifyingly cold, making Stella shrink back with fear.

She dared not continue on this topic.

She picked up an apple and said, "Silas, I brought these apples. They’re really sweet. Let me peel one for you to try; consider it an apology."

Silas didn’t even lift an eyelid, "Sorry, I’m allergic to apples."

That single line left Stella speechless, neither able to go forward nor retreat.

She had heard before that while Silas seemed gentle and elegant, he was more cold-blooded and ruthless than anyone else.

If not, he wouldn’t have become the Prescott Family Head at twenty-two.

Today, she truly witnessed his indifference.

But so what? She loved men like him.

Stella pitiably looked towards Old Master Prescott, "Grandpa Prescott, I made Silas upset. Please say something on my behalf."

Old Master Prescott chuckled, "Girl, it’s not that Grandpa doesn’t want to help you, but you touched his reverse scale. In his heart, Sienna is more important than this old man."

Hearing this, Stella cursed bitterly inside.

Sienna, you had better be really dead and never come back.

Chloe Nash returned to her office, still thinking about the scene she had just witnessed of Claire Channing.

Luckily, now she was Chloe Nash, and Claire couldn’t recognize her.

Otherwise, it would cause her a lot of trouble.

She had just sat down, planning to take a break when there was a knock on the office door.

Claire Channing stood at the door in an outfit that spoke of high status.

The expression on her face was worlds apart from before.

She walked over to Chloe with a biting, sarcastic tone.

"Chloe, back then, how did you promise me? You said you would never return home, never contact Jett Sterling again. Why have you reneged?"

Hearing these words, Chloe suddenly understood.

This woman also had another identity, that of Jett Sterling’s stepmother, Chloe’s ex-boyfriend.

The chief culprit forcing Chloe to break up with Jett Sterling.

Chloe couldn’t help but laugh coldly.

Who would have thought, after all this time circling around, she and Claire Channing would return to this adversarial relationship once more.
