Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband-Chapter 227: Proposal
Chapter 227: Proposal
"You look like someone who’s just had the best sex of their life," Aiden remarked teasingly as he watched her, pleased with himself over his plan of a surprise date for her. Even the weather seemed to be coordinating perfectly with him.
Serena stretched lazily, her grin matching his as she rubbed her stomach with exaggerated satisfaction. "What I had...It was even better than the sex," she replied.
Aiden arched a brow, leaning back in mock offense as he narrowed his eyes at her. "Should I feel insulted by that, my dear honey? Considering the fact that your sexual experiences have only ever involved me."
"Insulted?" Serena chuckled, tilting her head to meet his gaze and batted her eyes innocently at him. "You should be proud of your cooking skills, Aiden. They even managed to outshine your... other skills." Her grin widened mischievously as she emphasized her point with a little more stomach rubbing.
Aiden’s eyes narrowed, his expression shifting into something more determined and wickedly amused. "Is that so?" he murmured as his voice dipped lower. "I think that food has messed with your head, Serena. Lucky for you, I’m more than happy to remind you just how skilled I am."
Before she could react, he moved swiftly, catching her wrists and pinning them gently above her head. His face hovered just inches from hers, the playful fire in his eyes making her breath catch.
"You’ve been spoiled, Serena," he whispered as he leaned closer. "Let me fix that."
He dipped his head to the curve of her neck, where his teeth grazed her skin in a playful nip. She gasped, her body jerking slightly as a shiver rippled through her. Before the sensation could fade, his tongue followed the same path, soothing the spot he’d bitten. A quiet, involuntary sound escaped her lips, and he grinned against her skin, clearly pleased with himself.
Serena squirmed beneath him, her laughte escaping despite the heat sparking between them. "Okay, okay," she gasped, "I get it! You win. You’re very skilled in those things."
"That’s better," Aiden said smugly, finally pulling back enough to meet her gaze. His grin was all mischief as he released her hands, his fingertips trailing down her arms in a slow, deliberate motion.
"And for the record," he added, "I don’t mind a little competition—especially when I’m always going to come out on top, like now."
He grinned, leaning in closer, his lips hovering just above hers. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
But before he could close the distance, Serena pressed both hands against his chest, pushing him away with surprising determination.
"No!" she exclaimed, her voice sharp but laced with laughter. "You better keep your distance, Aiden. There will be no demonstration of your excellent skills here!" She wrinkled her nose for added emphasis. "I know for a fact that sand and stickiness do not go well together, and I am not about to test that theory with you."
Aiden froze for a moment, his expression a mix of surprise and sheer amusement. Then, unable to contain himself, he burst into laughter.
"Sand and stickiness?" he repeated, shaking his head as he rolled onto his back beside her. He turned his head to look at her, "Where on earth did you even get that little nugget of wisdom?"
"I just... know things." Serena answered primly.
Aiden didn’t buy it for a second. "Oh, really? So, you’re suddenly an expert in sand-related and sexual disasters? Do tell." he teased.
She avoided his questioning gaze, staring resolutely at the moon in the sky instead. "I just got the information, okay? You don’t need to know how."
She was absolutely not going to tell him that she’d googled it while he’d been busy setting up their picnic. The thought alone made her cringe with embarrassment, and she was determined to take that secret to her grave. No way was Aiden going to find out that while he’d been bending over to arrange the blanket and unpack the food, she’d been sneaking glances at him and feeling... well, distracted.
And so, to distract herself from her thoughts, she’d decided to do a search," why sex on the beach is a bad idea." She’d nearly dropped the device in shock at some of the very detailed answers, most of which involved uncomfortable truths about sand getting absolutely everywhere in places that had no right to have sand. Nope. Not happening.
They remained quiet then and she felt a sense of peace wash over her. She smiled when she felt him hold her hand and closed her eyes, letting the sound of the waves lull her into a sense of security.
Aiden’s thumb brushed lightly over Serena’s fingers, tracing the curve of her knuckles before lingering on her ring finger. His touch was slow, thoughtful, as though he was lost in some internal debate. She didn’t open her eyes, but she could feel the slight tension in his movements.
"Don’t even think about it," she murmured.
Aiden froze, startled. "What are you talking about?"
Serena cracked one eye ope and gave him a look,"You were about to say something. Don’t do it."
He raised an eyebrow, "I was? And what, exactly, do you think I was about to say?"
She turned her head slightly and sighed as if the answer was obvious. "You were about to ask me to marry you. Weren’t you?"
His silence confirmed her suspicion, and he let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head. "Wow. That’s scary. It’s unsettling how you know what I’m thinking before I even say it."
Finally opening her eyes, she turned her body, rolling onto her side until her head rested against his chest and then looked up at him," The last time you married me, you skipped the dating and the official proposal entirely," she said, poking him lightly in the ribs. "Obviously, you lost your chance, buster. This time, we’ll be having prpoer dates and I’ll be the one proposing to you."
Aiden looked down at her, his lips twitching as he tried to contain a laugh. "Oh, will you now?"
"Yep. Just wait for it."
